About

Plot Twist immerses you in the world of the literary industry, where you can rise from an unknown writer to a chart-topping phenomenon. It blends classic tycoon elements with original mini-games, helping you handle every creative and managerial “plot twist” along the way.

Start small, but as your success grows, establish a thriving literary studio. Hire editors, illustrators, and marketing specialists to help you reach new heights. Eventually, you can even become a publisher and decide what gets released—both your own works and other authors’ manuscripts.

Dare to experiment with various genres—try gripping sci-fi, moving romance, or a mysterious thriller. You can also create books in multiple formats (print, e-book, or audiobook) and expand your audience to capture the hearts of different reader groups.

While writing, you’ll enter the unique Focus Screen mode, where you choose what aspect of your work to emphasize—deep characters, thrilling twists, or captivating settings. Making the right calls opens up new possibilities and exciting add-ons for your final masterpiece.

Pick the right publisher or gradually become a publisher yourself. After each release, pay close attention to reviews—feedback from critics and fans will help you refine your work and transform good books into true literary masterpieces.

Plot Twist not only boosts your creativity but also offers entertaining mini-games to give you a break from constant writing. On top of that, you’ll face various narrative challenges and unexpected events during writing and promotion, bringing new opportunities or hurdles to overcome.

By consistently writing and releasing books, you’ll unlock new abilities—from captivating plot structuring to masterful prose and impactful marketing strategies. Keep evolving to stay ahead of the competition and secure your place among the literary elite.

Bring talented individuals into your studio—editors, illustrators, and marketing pros—to help elevate your work. Each team member has their strengths and weaknesses, and the right mix of experts can turn any manuscript into a true bestseller!

Saw this online, threw it on my wishlist and was very excited to play. After the first 5-10 minutes it becomes very repetitive and highly superficial. It's just a point-and-click game. You click bubbles to get "points" to add to your books, but you're choosing the same options over and over. Time is continually moving forward so if you sit too long without making money (even in the tutorial) you just get hammered and can't pay your rent. Not exactly the fun, chill, cozy experience I hoped for. Would not recommend.
Nah. Bad balancing, lack of choices. Just a clicker with bad click mechanism. Purchase better writing games
I love cosy sim games like this and was very existed when i saw it, the main thing that straight up ruined the game for me was the resource node clicking, as you begin to write you have little bubbled you have to quickly click on, not only does the nice break the cosy feel by it get super repetitive and annoying sadly i cannot recommend this game as much as i wanted to like it
I went into this game hoping for the best.. and instead what could be a fun little indie simulation management game is greatly hampered by some small details that make it a frustrating experience rather than a pleasant one. https://youtu.be/2stZ36kweg4 NOT RECOMMENDED - Unless this indie developer(s) actually listens and heeds to advice (which very few do), I cannot recommend this game. Time will tell. ..Will we see a much needed and very easy to do update soon?
So, as a writer myself and a lover of cozy games, I went into this game super excited. I'd seen the trailer and the pictures in the about section so I already knew what to expect regarding how the game looks like. Am I enjoying it so far? Yes. Am I noticing some things that I don't like? Also yes. Basically, I'm having issues with the movement of the cursor. Tried changing the quality and all of that, but it still moves kind of heavy and it's not a mouse issue. So I'm not sure if the game itself moves the cursor in like a heavy way so that the point and click games have some added difficulty, though it gets frustrating at times. Regarding pricing and number of copies, it would be great to be able to get more precise and not jump from 100 copies to 500 for example. I also noticed that in the about section of the game, some images show information that may not coincide with what you see in the game. Mostly minor things like the amount of XP needed for several skills that's shown on the image is not the same that you see in the game. Again, minor details. The idea of the game itself is very cool and I found it entertaining, though it can get a bit repetitive at times. I enjoyed the cards that sometimes pop up telling you about a writing competition or events that happen. More of that may help the game feel less repetitive.
this game is a grind and a repetitive one at that. Game Dev Story and other indie management games like this are meant to be quite casual and more about enjoying the progress of your little squad and feeling like a manager of sorts, but the sheer panic of nervously trying to click all of these skill points while avoiding the dozens of negative points AND with a cursor that feels laggy and doesn't click what you intend on clicking half the time really ruins the experience. in the beginning you don't make much progress at all, even when scoring multiple "perfect" projects. the events in the game are just losing or gaining xp, and the competitions are a good concept but i would have imagined a game based on literature might make you type something creative, when in reality you just type out common sayings. unfortunately, despite all of the systems the game appears to have, your success depends on two things: finding three genre combinations that work, and selling as many novels as possible. as soon as i could sell more than 100 copies per project, the entire game's economy was broken and money was no longer an issue, and even with the lowest publisher that's supposed to have like 2% of the market share i sold out of 10 millions books. once you start selling more copies you don't need to use the marketing feature the game has, you don't need more translations or even that many genres or features of your writing, and the grind becomes getting more xp so you can unlock stuff for achievements. i really hope this game can get more updates and have a genuine system to it. right now the cursor is broken and blends into the background too much, there aren't any xp skills or developments that make getting xp points easier, at least two of the achievements aren't triggering despite me overachieving them [the 5 translations and writing 20 books in one playthrough], and as soon as the game was broken nothing else mattered. unless some serious updates come out, i can't recommend, even though i love the idea and aesthetic :(
The game is cozy, cozy, cozy! The music perfectly underlines the gameplay, strategy and active playing are necessary, but it will reward you ✨
