Was hoping for something more clever. Starts off solid, but never evolves and then ends up falling into moon logic by the end. A lot of technical issues. Weird depth of field bug when close to objects (thought it was intentional, but there's no setting to disable it). Disappointingly linear. A lot of backtracking, but not to discover new things, simply busywork to accomplish known tasks. I was told this would be similar to The Witness, Blue Prince, and Outer Wilds, yet the similarity was mostly aesthetic. The game is also very expensive for how barebones the final product is.

GAME GOOD. SOLID PUZZLER WITH A GREAT FINISH. SHOULD HAVE MADE NEWS THAT YEAR BUT WENT UNDER THE RADAR. MUST PLAY, out of 5.
Platonic is fun if you like environmental puzzles with no indication how anything works at first. The ramping of difficulty is comfortable and the puzzles offer useful clues and good feedback for an experienced puzzle gamer. The end game I found a real challenge.
Really good if you're willing to take on the 'meta puzzles' at the end of the game where you are pulling info from just about everywhere. If you're not willing to go that far, then it may be a bit disappointing as there's very few middle ground puzzles that bridge the difficulty level between the meta puzzles I mentioned and trivial early puzzles where you take a solution from one wall and punch it into some other spot. Overall a great environmental puzzler if you're willing to stick with it.
10/10 An amazing out of the box puzzle game that forces you to actually think. Layered environmental puzzles and beautiful worlds. Definitely a challenge to finish, but extremely gratifying in the end. Please make a sequel.
I first played this game three years ago and quit halfway through because I couldn't figure out what to do. Finally came back to it recently, and I'm glad I did. The sense of exploration as you visit each of the five areas is very strong, and Platonic does a good job with integrating its puzzles within the environment. The final puzzles are good, too -- I appreciate what Platonic does with the
secret codes
, taking the concept in two opposite directions to create an interesting set of final challenges. I do think the game could have done a bit more with its premise -- it ends fairly abruptly, I think -- but overall it really is different from other puzzle games on the market and is worth a play.
