Islands of Insight is packed with puzzles and gives players an impressive amount of freedom to explore at their own pace. The world is beautiful, and discovering new challenges around every corner creates a satisfying sense of progression. Some puzzle types can become repetitive over time, but the sheer variety helps keep things fresh. A relaxing and rewarding game for anyone who enjoys exploration and brain teasers.
Unfortunately the game doesn't respect a player's time. Most of the puzzles are either no puzzles at all (like find barely visible objects or align the camera a certain way) or are insanely easy but what's worse is that halfway through the game (after about 6 hours of playing) the progress is blocked behind going back to previous puzzles and completed them with bonus objectives you didn't need to do at first which is a massive waste of time as you also need to find them sometimes in concealed places. 4/10.
I like this game, the puzzles are very good, and there's a lot of pretty cool "environmental" puzzles scattered across the world, for example I like the matchboxes. The game is a weirdly addictive form of lovingly handcrafted "puzzleslop", thousands upon thousands of things to do scattered across a large explorable world. But the game was originally designed for some bizarre reason to be an online game despite the core gameplay being totally unsuited for that, and there are a whole load of bad consequences of this. Puzzles rotate regularly every 24 hours, I can imagine there's no way to performantly have all puzzles available at all times, but three times while playing a puzzle was despawned while I was actively trying to solve it and so I lost all progress. If you want to play all the puzzles and see and do everything the game is very unfriendly to the player. The game does have one of the best player-created mods I've ever seen, which you can find in the discussions forum and makes the experience much better. Thanks again to all the modders that worked hard to try and salvage the good that's hiding in this game.

good game barley works on steam deck though.
Of the 10,000 things to click on, maybe 200 of them are actually unique puzzles? And the rest are like a very tedious job that you don't get paid for. There are no steam achievements and no puzzle completion tracker, instead you "level up" every so often, which seems to have no effect on anything. The cursor doesn't even map to the screen properly! You have to click 20 pixels above the button to get the click to register.
I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Then I found a puzzle and solved it. Ah well, and it looks quite nice.
