About
Planetbase is a strategy game where you guide a group of space settlers trying to establish an outpost on a remote planet.
In the game you play the role of the base architect and manager, telling your colonists where to build the structures they will need to survive. You will have to ensure that they have a constant supply of oxygen, food and water to stay alive.
You will get them to collect energy, extract water, mine metal, grow food, manufacture bots, and build a fully self-sufficient base in a harsh environment, where you are always one step away from total failure.
Even if the game is not intended to be a simulator, all the mechanics are plausible, and based on what the expected challenges of establishing a colony in an new planet would be.
Four different planets with different conditions and increasing difficulty.

Harness solar and wind energy (if available) in order to power the base's structures.
Grow hydroponic Vegetables and synthesize Vitromeat to feed your population.
Mine and produce raw resources, process them, manufacture goods, and establish a production chain.
Carefully manage the colonist immigration flow to ensure you have the people with the right skills.

Survive disasters like meteors, sandstorms or solar flares and defend your base from intruders.
Mechanize your base by creating your own bots that will help with the more arduous tasks.
Grow your colony from a few initial pioneers to a vibrant planetbase with hundreds of colonists.

Reviews
This game is plagued by drones not doing their jobs. It is way too finicky about what they need to stay working and there is no constant power, you are at the whims of the wind and sunlight. Without constant power your drones wont sleep in their beds. IN THEIR BEDS!!!! But they can use an airlock with no power.

Every market we collect.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Planetbase is a fantastic change of pace if you're looking for something that hits that management itch without requiring a PhD in logistics. Since I’ve moved to playing exclusively on the Steam Deck, I’ve been looking for games that offer that "just one more building" feeling while still being accessible, and this one really nails it. What’s great about Planetbase is that it’s fairly basic in its mechanics—and I mean that in the best way possible. There’s no over-the-top complexity to get lost in, which makes it easy to pick up and put down. However, don't let the simplicity fool you; once your colony starts expanding and you're managing hundreds of colonists across a hostile landscape, the challenge really ramps up. The gameplay experience on the Steam Deck is top-tier. It runs smoothly, and while the handheld controls are functional, I’ve found the sweet spot is pairing the Deck with a wireless mouse. It gives you that extra bit of precision needed for placing structures when the base gets crowded. It’s also the perfect "dad-friendly" game—it’s easy to pause or just let the colony hum along while you step away to deal with family for a few minutes.

This is an underrated game that is a steal on sale ! I've already played it 18 hours in the first week, with no time for others. Very atmospheric, and highly recommended. Can see me spending 100's of hours on this, and I'm still only on the first planet, not played any of the challenges yet. Don't wait any longer, I'd say a great game for £10 or less !
Great game. Needs a sequel.
it's a fun city builder.
AI太傻逼了,都要饿死了也不愿意搬食物去食堂,看看第二部怎么样吧。
I said it before, ya cant win, either bad programming or the rng is wrong!
"Invalid location" I don't have patience for this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If you're going to have nonsensical reasons I can't place something on perfectly flat ground, then you need to have a better explanation as to WHY. Yes the ground was flat, and yes all existing buildings were connected. And yes I tried restarting the game. It just doesn't work for no apparent reason, and I am too impatient for ♥♥♥♥ like this right now. Maybe I'll change this if I ever decide to try the game again, since its too late to refund it.
