About
Even the luckiest's pirate's luck runs out, eventually! In Pirate Cove Simulator you're the captain of a pirate crew caught in a vicious storm when returning from an expeditions with your cargo holds filled with treasure. You wake up on the fabled Island of the Damned, where all the best pirates go, when they die at sea. You're dead, and so are your sailors! But there's no reason it should stay that way. Maybe you can buy your way out of this place...
The Island of the Damned is full of undead pirates… who happen to have a lot of gold! Setting up a shop and tavern seems like a great way to help them part with the wealth they no longer need and might just give you the chance to buy your way out of that place. Stock your shelves, set your prices, and get your gold while trading wares!
Why is the rum always gone on the Island of the Damned? The undead can’t work the distillery. Time to change that! Mix local plants to find that perfect taste and distill potent drinks for the restless pirate souls. Find your own favorite recipes. Sure, everything they drink just goes through their bones and spills all over the ground, but what’s important – they will come to buy another round!
The game is full of activities that go way beyond a standard casual economy sim game. Working the distillery, stocking shelves, trading wares is fun, but also something your crew can take over from you. That leaves you free to roam the islands and explore, search for rare plants, hunt for buried treasure, or just go fishing! Some of these activities help you gain gold to buy yourself out of the afterlife, some don’t. But all are fun!

This game feels like an initial Early Access build, but apparently it's a full release. Given that this is listed as a full release, I can only thumb it down. The game is NOT ready for prime time. The UI is very rough, there is no control rebinding (or even reference), and overall it just doesn't feel good to play for me. I'd stick with it, but I tried the dev's previous game, Alchemist Shop Simulator, the other day and it's in an equally rough shape in terms of its basic user experience. I figure if that game is (presumably) considered finished, then this one isn't going to get any better. Oh, and not to be mean, but I strongly suggest hiring a native English speaker to proofread the dialogue and UI. The current broken English doesn't help the user's impression of the game. All of that said, I like the premise of the game and the fundamental gameplay loop as far as I can see it, and if the dev ever unscrambles things I'd be happy to put money down again and change my review. I feel the same about Alchemist Shop Sim. But for the moment at least, this one's a refund. :(
Is good to kill half an hour or so, but 7 hours in, i think I've had enough. I like that there's more than just a cashier element to the game with the ingredient mixing and the fishing but the developers chose an end-game goal that's a little too far away for the amount of content in the game and the grind doesn't seem worth it. There's a skill tree that supposedly helps make the grind easier but after 7 hours I've only managed to unlock 7 of the 20. Each Tier of the skill tree costs 1 skill point more than the previous tier. You're probably looking at 40 minutes to 1 hour grind for 1 skill point and the game isn't fun enough to justify 4 hours of grind to unlock just 1 of the 'Sea Captain' skills. You're far more likely to get the required enormous amount of money to finish the game before you're even halfway through the skill tree. Recommendation: Buy it, play for 2 hours (it's enough to experience 90% of what the game offers) and refund it if you're a cheapskate or keep it with hopes some things get more balanced. In it's current state it's a 6 hour game mathematically stretched to 60 hours grind.
This is a fun game but however there are still things that need to be corrected. One of the things is the money earned. The math isnt adding up and its annoying. If you are going to show how much you earned per transaction then make sure the math adds up. For example I sold an item for 118, the gave me 136 and I gave them 18 back in change but it said earned 39. I posted this in there discord about 2 weeks ago and nobody has acknowledged it which doesnt give me hope that they are collecting feedback.
Unbalanced. Too grindy. All content unlocked way too early. Buggy (distilling doesn't consume resources with the bot). Promising premise, but not fleshed out. Seems like it should still be in early access. Looking forward to more content patches ;)
Pirate Cove Simulator is… well… let’s say an undead pirate shop simulator, complete with fishing, brewing booze, and hunting for treasure. Yeah. Everything about the game is fun in a simple, childlike way – from the colorful graphics, to the reworked versions of classic sea shanties blasting through my speakers, to the fact that one of the skeletons has a bird perched on its head. Don’t expect some groundbreaking AAA title that’s going to change the industry, but I suspect there’s a small niche of players who will find it more than entertaining to grind their way to 1,000,001 gold for the god of death.
