Reviews
After ~10ish hours and level 6 (from total 16) the impressions are terrible. Game gets lot of dedicated fans, but from CRPGs it's one of the worst i have encountered so far. It's not even slow burn as many call it. It is completely doused. The only interesting story part so far was prologue. There are dozens of fights against HP sponges with no interesting mechanics. We got some bait about children missing souls, but no other info... Just running around doin chores and fighting unending hordes of bland mechanic lacking NPCs. Character progression is bland to the point it reminds you of games from 90ties, where technology simply wasn't there yet (few skill points, generic talent and if you have some caster, you get either generic spell or useless flavourful spell; if martial you just get more generic boring talents - and this comes from a guy who usually likes passive effects! But barely noticeable chance to hit / lower the damage which you have to take because you graze so much even with minmaxed stats is not interesting at all. Your character is almost the same at level 6 as it was at level 1. And checking character builders, it barley gets any better at higher levels. Game looks beautiful at least, so it is not a complete pain staring at the scenery (which you have to do a lot..) Reading through reviews, i wonder what standards people had before playing this, to get charmed by this flavourless soup. Negative reviews are mostly on point with constructive feedback, but possitive ones are just amazement over salty water. If you want a good cRPG, go for Larian or Owlcat games... Hell even shadowrun games are deeper than this puddle.
Pillars of Eternity.
Lo he rejugado como 10 veces, y lo he terminado al menos dos ...
I really liked the 2nd PoE, but the first one just feels... old maybe? I know it's made to be like one of the old Infinity Engine games, but I'd appreciate some modern upgrades like in Pathfinder. Also, the combat feels very unimpactful. Tried to play it twice, both times gave up.
garbage combat even in turn base mode, take forever to kill a normal monster, could have some quality life like show quest/enemy HP, quests on the map, to feel less sluggish. Have potencial to be a good game if improved.
Love it after the update with turn based combat
Really boring game. I played with mostly the same weapons for nearly 15 hours because I wasn't finding any better ones, either as loot or as items to buy in a shop. And in 15 hours I was only able to get my characters to level 4. It's just so slow and boring. I want to make progression faster than a glacier. 15 hours to only level up 3 times. Watching Paint Dry: The Video Game. And even when you do level up, these CRPGs always make it so boring. Do you get any exciting new abilities? No. You get a spell that subtly modifies some statistic which affects some dice rolls behind the scenes. Whoo. Do you get any new and exciting equipment when you complete a quest? No. You get experience points and some pocket change. And it takes a metric tonne of exp to level up in this game anyway, so you can complete multiple quests without anything even happening. I also find the resting mechanic to just be the most boring thing ever in these CRPGs. You have a wizard that spends most of his time firing a crossbow because he's a 3-pump-chump with his spells. These games turn something as potentially interesting as magic into something as dull as a magician who barely uses any magic. I also found there to be very little player agency. You can choose your stats at the start, but you have very limited options, at least in what I played, to influence the story. it's just different dialogue options that all lead to the same outcome. This game is such a yawn fest. So boring
One of, if not the best, true CRPG in the last decade.
