Personal Disco VR

If I were rating this on a 5-star system it would probably get 2 stars, but I'm giving it a thumbs up because I want to encourage the "virtual disco" developers (even though most of that content right now sucks), and if you buy this and don't like it, you can easily get a refund after trying it out for a while. This is a start, maybe not a good start, but a start. The room is too bland. It needs more variety, and particle effects more like the things up in the sky during the menu. It needs options for colors and styles. It needs some exploding spheres like Audioshield. The people are kinda creepy. They stare blankly, but dance around, and always look you in the eye. You can also grab their arms and make them go through their own bodies. They're too short. They all seem under 5 feet tall. They aren't dressed for the disco, and some of their moves aren't well suited either. The collision for clothes is horrible. Knees are always popping out of dresses. Worst, they want to occupy the center of my Vive space. They should let me stand in the center and maybe move in a circle around me. The disco could also use a few more people optionally. If it is easy to add custom characters through an FBX import, that would be pretty amazing. But all these people should be optional if I want to remove them all. More effects. More options. AAC file support would be nice if it isn't already included. On the plus side, I like some of the included music. It does look kinda like a disco. And if you feel lonely in your life, once you've danced in a fake disco with nobody around except an emotionless VR companion, your real life will never feel quite as lonely again.

По настроению всегда можно поставить любимый трек и вернуться на танцпол. Но это все впечатления, а теперь ближе к самому симулятору. Так получается, что на каждый плюс напрашивается свой минус. + С помощью редактора можно создавать совершенно новых партнеров. - Такое впечатление, что большая часть настроек в редакторе создана для того, чтобы придать модели уродливый вид. Сохранять образы созданных моделей, к сожалению, нельзя. + Можно переодеть партнера. - Гардероб скудный до неприличия – всего два наряда для каждого (хотя в релизе и того не было). + Модели выполнены достаточно ровно, я бы сказал на среднем уровне, но и сам продукт не претендует на большее. Провалы в текстуры почти отсутствуют. Партнеры следят взглядом за игроком и меняют мимику лица, выполняют поворот корпуса. - Коже моделей не хватает блеска, отчего та выглядит сухой и восковой. Возможность держать партнера за руки реализована в высшей степени нелепо – при поворотах руки проходят сквозь тело. Было бы гораздо эффектнее, если бы партнер в таких случаях просто выпускал руку. Ну и самая важная деталь – под юбкой у девушек ничего нет! В том плане, что пустота. + Добавлен режим танца со всеми партнерами одновременно. Достаточно одного такого танца, чтобы получить шесть достижений. - При моих I7 8700 и GTX 1080Ti текстуры моделей начали терять четкость, словно перед этим я заправился в баре. Отмечено, что при расстановке пар модели могут врастать друг в друга, создавая подвижную биомассу. Парни лихо оттанцовывают друг перед другом, девчонки в сторонке тоже не стоят. Из мелочей: танцпол всего один, но зато с открывающимся окном и выходом в холл. В углу установлен синтезатор, на котором можно постучать на ударниках или подергать за струны. На нем же управление оконными створками. Несмотря на то, что минусы расписаны более подробно, получать удовольствие от танца это не мешает. Просто не провоцируйте своими действиями геймплей и не будьте столь придирчивы. Вполне возможно, что разработчики не забросят проект, а будут и дальше шлифовать слабые места и радовать игрока свежими обновлениями.

The simulated dancer just makes predefined moves, always the same dance, completely independent of the music (duh!) and the player. Not the slightest bit of interaction. If I just want to dance to music, I don't need VR for that.

I do recommend this game for the current price of $4.99 and only for those who understand what they are getting. What are you getting for $5? Well, you get to listen to your local music (along with a few in-game selections) while you look at a small disco VR world that includes 3 female and 3 male model avatars. Each avatar has their own unique dance. You can grab a hold of their hands and move both of their hands. Other than that, there is no interaction with the avatar although it does seem that for whatever reason, the avatar will at times "look into your eyes," which can be odd. You can dance along, obviously, but you can't even see your hands or body (just the controllers). There are also some items you can interact with in the world. Random balls of light are scattered and when you touch them it will make a cymbal sound and sparks will fly. There's also a stand controller on one corner of the room where you can make drum sounds or activate a instrument with beams of light (piano, harp, etc.) and you make sounds by touching each colored beam of light. I was disappointed by how small the disco floor was. You have options to have 1 avatar dance with your or all six together. Each avatar dances exactly the same routine they are preprogrammed to do. Most of the avatars dance barefooted, which is odd. They don't even up their tempo in dancing for an upbeat song, although you can make them your dance puppet (at least with their hands). The avatar also leaves at the end of each song (no loops or playlist) and walks through a wall. Another annoyance I had was with the teleporting (trigger and joystick at same time on Touch); the control was inconsistent. One of the fun parts of the game is that you can customize the look of your avatar. I danced with a [u] pregnant hag troll with big eyes and small pouty lips with beast hands [/u]. It was the scariest VR experience I have ever had. Rating 6/9 would dance to Hells Bells with my monstrous creation again

I switch between bustin' serious moves to being a worldclass DJ. You can't scratch but they do a few beats and a basic drum kit you can tap on. If you like VR, dancing, going to clubs, then Personal Disco is a must. I only wish you could play your own saved videos, like MP4. I also wish dancing with the other characters was more interactive. Hearing and seeing the video you pick from YouTube is pretty awesome and makes the game totally worth it for me. I used to go to a club that kinda looked like the dance floor in this game, and they also had a big screen for video.

It's fun, worth 4 bucks. Even more fun if you use your own music choices (even though they don't know the moves..it was kinda like meeting a woman who has never been to a goth club before lol). I'd like to see the models able to twirl around when they want to and maybe some better AI for being more aware of their environment, and of course way more varied dance styles and music. Maybe allow urls from youtube which is way easier than downloading OGG files. Looking forward to the evolution of this ! :)

This App allows to dance with Avatars. The immersion is pretty impressive. For gaming fans who are into FPS, MMORPG etc. this may seem useless, but if you are into dancing it will kick you. As far as I know it is the first of its kind for a modern VR HMD. In Roomscale Tower is one adventure that resembles a bit. I hope this app sells good, so that devs can spend much more time on extending it. I like to see better physics on the Avatars and it would be great to have them do real dances like Salsa, Tango and so on. Also: integrate a training mode. Alltogether: Great concept, well done so far. I'd pay 50 USD for a full size VR dancing software.

This is actually good. Gives a nice sense of presence being there. This is the girlfriend/boyfriend simulator you are looking for.

I was surprised at how good this simple game is. After playing, I would have paid more. If the devs are reading this, I hope there are more clothing options coming.
