About
Classic Golf gameplay, inspired by Hot Shots and Tiger Woods games, updated for Disc Golf! A faithful interpretation of the sport powered by Unreal Engine 4 and coffee.
Heads Up: This is NOT the version of the game that can be played with a TechDisc! Steam doesnt allow apps that require outside subscriptions. That is available on itch.io, search for Perfect Round Disc Golf there, or follow the link from the Tree Branch Games website to find that version.
Real disc golf! The best physics in a disc flight simulation, combined with DGA Mach 7 baskets and 51 real Discraft/DGA discs creates the most realistic disc golf game to date.
Play alone, or bring some friends! Level up your abilities in a solo round, 8 player online matches, or invite up to 3 friends over to your house for some face to face trash talk!
279 holes to play! From a challenging par 2 island course to championship style courses with par 4 and par 5 holes, master each of 16 unique courses and compete for a spot on the global leaderboards!
Wacky characters! Because who wouldn’t want to play disc golf with Sun Wukong, the Monkey King? If that’s not your thing or grandma stops by for a round, you can always turn on nonfiction mode.
Motion captured animations! The most accurate animations for a disc golf game yet, all recorded with a motion capture suit from real throws by myself. Give me some form tips!
Having been a gamer since playing Civilization 2 on my parent’s Macintosh, when I started disc golfing 8 years ago it didn’t take long before I looked for a game in the style of classic golf games, but with the unique flight and challenges that come with disc golf. When I realized that game didn't exist, the idea of creating it myself stuck with me until I finally downloaded Unreal Engine 4 and started learning the engine to make it. This is the disc golf game I want to play, and I am always taking recommendations from other players who feel the same.

most of the reviews on here are a lie the only physics in this game that are okay, are the flight physics. i have had to play from inside of a solid stone structure, watched disc go through trees, and had a disc roll into a very deep creek which i then had throw from the bottom of the creek. i do appreciate the effort but it still needs work.
I'm no stranger to early access or indie games, so the fact that this is early access did not faze me at all. there's a certain level of jank - to be expected with early access. i figure, in most cases it will get fixed eventually so there's nothing to worry about. the problem is, when the fundamentals aren't there, well...... then what? I wanted to like Perfect Round Disc Golf - I really did! I love a good game of disc golf IRL, and had high hopes for it to be a good game. the issues were apparent immediately. -The levels are quite empty. they don't actually feel like a real course at all. -The playable characters seemed ok. but then the frankly silly f2p style emotes - dances they do after each successful putt is just embarrassing. Totally the wrong focus to put your effort into here. The worst is the 90's arcade style power bar that doubles as both power and aim, but moves so quickly that it becomes a matter of how fast you van click, and not actual skill. it would have been much better to model it more on games like Golf with your friends, or disc golf valley, where skill is actually necessary and its not just a case of - you are completely at the wims of timing your space bar clicks correctly or you will fail. A video game is meant to be fun. it is meant to be something you do to escape the monotony of everyday real life. i did not find it fun. i found it arcadie (in a bad way) and due to that, quite boring. if you decide to revamp the throw system, then ill give this another try. but with the current mechanics... i just did not enjoy playing it.
EDIT: including more info, rather than my emotional rant before of “game TOO early access, game bad!” ————————————————————————————— While I can praise the game's merit in what it's going for, especially in it's, mostly, accurate portrayal of the game of Disc Golf. The uniqueness of this sport being made into a video game helps the creator have access to an untapped market. As for my main issues with the game, all of these come from, in my opinion, the game being to “early” in early-access. Though, for reference, I’ve only played 2 other early-access games and comparing those (multi-developer games) so this (single-developer) game. It’s hard to make a game, let alone by yourself. I don’t often see 3D games made from a single dev, cementing my thoughts that it’s much easier to make a 2D game. Below are the 3 categories I can put these issues with the game, alongside some current positives for each: 1. BUGS: the game still has a lot of glitches that can put a full stop to a course. Might be ok in single-player (not much time lost) but when doing multi-player with friends it can take a while to do an 18-hole course and losing that time is disheartening. I've only played in multiplayer (Steam Remote Play), but my friend who's played single player says they’ve witnessed most of the glitches appear in multiplayer, and the ones they've seen in single player show up more often in multiplayer. Of the glitches we see, a larger than expected number of them break a run and require a restart or cause a crash. While most are HILARIOUS and innocuous, similar to Skyrim's, I could see the gameplay breaking ones removing entertainment that comes from competitiveness or unlocks that require a lot of skill. 2. IN-GAME ASSETS: I don't know which game assets are custom built, but seeing most of the characters’ models/voices and some of the BG items are free or purchased assets; the term “asset flip” comes to mind. That certainly brings negative connotations with it, even for me, and I understand that the singular dev isn't art oriented. I just hope the assets mostly become in-house before the ver. 1.0 release, especially key assets like characters. To speak on the current state of the game, I LOVE the hilarity of these serious, fantasy characters playing disc golf and especially the many ways to taunt, encourage, and generally cause a ruckus through the voice commands. Even the non-fantasy models are great, b/c the normal humans are dressed a combination of traditional and modern business casual for an outside sport. :P 3. PRICE: I won't pretend to know if Steam's Early Access has things locked in a way that has the Dev's hands tied from raising prices on various stages of the development, or charging people a little extra to move from the Early Access Stage to a Full Fledged game. Still, for the current state of the game, which to me feels like a more polished proof-of-concept, the price of $20 feels too high. A game's worth is based on many criteria, and subjective from person to person. I'm basing this on other games I've played and the amount of “content” and experience they offered. And it's hard for me to factor in what the the version 1.0 release would look like into my feeling here b/c it feels so far. ( to compare to Kickstarter where folks normally have to put together a road map of the game for investors, and show off an idea the final product’s visuals) ————— Overall, this game can be pretty fun, especially with friends. In the current state I’d change my recommendation to “Thumbs Up” if the price was less - maybe wait for a sale? Seeing the game as it is now, I just wish it was “more” (acknowledging feature creep)
It's fun to pass the time, especially if you have disc golf on your mind and can't go at the moment. don't waste your earned coins on discs until you've progressed your skill points. It's a stretch for 20 bucks but if it's on sale or you just want a disc golf game, give it a try.
best and overall most complete disc golf game on steam.
I love Disc Golf but this game is not it. I get that this isn't some Triple A game but it's borderline unplayable. 1. The course layouts (I played 4 different courses) are awful and don't enforce O.B. or Mando at all. It's not at all fun to miss your target, have the disc travel 300 ft down a hill into a water hazard then the game force you to play your lie. On top of that you have to sit there and watch your disc roll down a hill for a 2 minutes with no option to skip the animation. 2. There's no option to redo a throw, if not playing competitive, you have to start all the way back at hole 1 when using the "restart" option. 3. The shot selection is repetitive and boring. Which is often echoed by the default character skin telling me she's "bored" even when making par. While I like being able to adjust the angle, attempting to throw a hyzer or anhyzer seems to affect the flight path of the disc way too early and is never worth using. 4. The character skins make no sense at all, the default skin is fine other than her hair blocking the camera sometimes but the other skins look like they were stolen out of another medieval game. 5. The unlock system for skins, discs, skills is clunky with no clear objective for the player, you return to the menu and suddenly have hundreds of dollars not knowing how you earned it. 6. Speaking of the camera, a random piece of foliage, that is behind you since this is a 3rd person game, will sometimes be right in you view of the basket and you can only lean slightly left or right to view it.
This game is so damn fun. Ive been playing it with my roommate who also disc golfs and we have been loving it. Yea the graphics are ok but the physics make up for it. I hope the continue working on this game. 100% worth the money. The charter models, skill tree, courses are outstanding. You can flex shots!! That took awhile to learn but once we figured that out the fun doubled. It really does play like real DG. the one thing i dont love is the other character will some times block your view of the basket.
best disc golf game you can play at the moment. its pretty good!!
Some days you can get through multiple holes with zero issues. Some days you are unable to play through 3 holes before it freezes and crashes. Multiplayer sucks and does not work. This game could be wonderful if they would come out with bug fixes.
While not perfect, I have a lot of fun in this game. This cures the itch a bit to get out on the course, and having official discs in the game help this feel more legitimate. This can take some getting used to before you start to get a hang of the game, and how the discs flies vs the angle of release and power you put on it. But, it is very consistent if you can get your timing down for release. Putting takes some practice as well, but is also pretty consistent. I've gotten decent at putting at the edge of Circle 2, and it is super satisfying knocking in 60+ foot putts. I'd love to see the practice mode expanded, there are a few holes I'd love to throw over and over again for some of the courses. But there is not an easy way to do this unless you like Hole 1 or Hole 9, as you need to start a round to play any of the courses. Additionally, the hit boxes on trees are wider than the graphics. Quite often, I'll have a great line going, only to hit a phantom part of a tree that I should have flown right past. All in all this is still a work in progress, even though there has not been an update since January 30th earlier this year. Of the current disc golf games available, VR included, this is the most refined and easiest to get the hang of.
