Short version: Unless you REALLY like playing hidden object games, and you don't mind either spending money or lots of time waiting doing literally nothing, I cannot really recommend this game. This game gives you quests which are "gather X amount of items", and you gather those items by going to the hidden object scenes, which you unlock by leveling up. Completing one rewards you with one or more random items. The game seems to give priority to those you need for your quests, which is good, as the amount of different items grows exponentially as you continue completing quests. Now this wouldn't be so bad, but sadly, the game uses the classic browser/mobile game trick where you have "energy", which you spend doing the HO scenes. As you go to locations more and more, they level up and cost more energy to do. Now, even all of that wouldn't be too bad, but then there's the "characters" you interact with. As you unlock more locales, more NPCs appear, roaming the map. There's several items that you can use with these NPCs to exchange for a random item out of their stock. Sadly, unlike with the HO scenes, the NPCs do not prioritize items you need, and some of these items are exclusive or just about exclusive to just these NPCs, meaning that if you have bad luck with rolls, you don't get the items you need or no needed collectibles at all. If you don't have the item you exchange for interacting with the NPCs, it costs in-game gold to interact with them. For instance, I had a quest where I needed one item from the Wolf NPCs. It took me about 25 tries to finally get it off of him, and he only had 4 possible drops at the time (most of them didn't drop anything). In other words, this game is very much designed to extort money from you by making you wait in order to play, and locking needed items behind the 100% random chance NPCs. If you don't mind all of this, and like Hidden Object games, this game might be for you. Otherwise, though, I'd recommend looking at other ones.
It's one of those free-to-wait hidden object games where you replay a handful of scenes over and over and get randomly rewarded items for quests, and playing scenes costs energy which refills on a timer. Which is fine, I mean, sometimes I'm in the mood for a mindless type of game like that, and making you wait or pay for energy refills isn't the worst type of monetization for a F2P game. Except that the developer/publisher here changed the game from free to paid without rebalancing the gameplay or removing the microtransactions, which is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Last straw was when my quests started bugging out and got stuck on incomplete even though I'd gathered more than enough quest items. Makes me feel bad for anyone who actually made in-game purchases and then got stuck unable to progress.
The Steam Community will like this 'free to play' Hidden Object game far better then the last one (Lost Lands: A Hidden Object Adventure), for one, the achievements are far easier to get and are in sync with the area leveling. Achievements are earned at the first level up. Though I am sure many will still complain about microtransactions that NEVER, EVER have to be done. The player levels up relatively fast giving the player a full energy bar to continue playing. There are 38 locations in total to open. There are also two nice features at the bottom of the page, a diary and main story quest log, so the player can keep track of the storyline. The Hidden Object scenes start out with 3 items and the items increase at each level. Also the player is encouraged to chain the object finds to increase the "prizes" of XP, money, items, and energy. A special area feature is the little picture by each area name indicting the type of HO scene available. "Sun" is straight find list. "Hand and sun" Silhouette mode. "Moon and stars" Night mode. This makes it much easier to know, find and anticipate certain modes when needed for quests. Much easier play style compared to other games of this type, with far less grinding then usual and who can beat the price of FREE, so give it a try if so inclined. 53 achievements and now with trading cards
Mystic Saga
Pay to Win Game of 2016. Unravel the mysteries of the past, find ancient scrolls and learn more about the prophecy of the ancestors! Decipher ancient spells and find magical keys to master the power of all elements! (Developer) Pay to win disguised as a hidden object game. you need energy Just buy them. Replacing time spent with real money to speed up progress is what Pay to Win actually means. Alternatively, you can let the so-called game run forever in the background to generate energy. Because you need energy in the game for almost everything and not a little of it. You also need crystals and you can also buy them. You could also say you have to. So either buy it right away or leave the PC running, which then also causes costs on the electricity bill and represents a waste of electricity. In my opinion such games should be banned or at least not sold on Steam. Especially since you can't see on the shop page that it's a rip-off game. The icing on the cake is that here in Germany you also have to pay around 5 euros for the game. So buy to pay to pay even more. Luckily you are not forced to buy it yet. Ergo, just ignore it. 100% purchase warning! 100% Kaufwarnung! To call this game terrible is really an insult to all the horrible, useless, terrible, asinine games on steam. One of the few games I wish I Steam would let me give a lower score to. Not only do you have to BUY this game, (which I admittedly did in a package deal) they don't let you play the damn thing. You need energy and you have to wait for it to fill up so you can do more actions. I mean I get that on a FREE game. It's only fair as the developer should get something for their time. However, if you pay for the game, you should be able to play the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. I can choose to pay MORE money to play the game I've already bought, but why should I. Mind you, this isn't for new content. It's just to play the exact same content I've already paid for. That's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and although I have several games from this developer and publisher, I'm voting with my money. These thieves (which is probably the nicest thing I can think to call them) will never get another cent from me. I've got tons of time on this game as I forced myself to play it to see if I would change my opinion, however after almost 40 hours I can say with authority, this game is ♥♥♥♥ and not worth the .50 cents I paid. I'd get a refund for even that paltry sum because it offends me that I paid for this. I kept waiting for this to get better and it just never does.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3427587015
Mystic Saga.
The game is very similar to the f2p game "Lost Lands". At LL you get the archievements not so fast but beside that i didn't see much difference. Mystic Saga is a HOG with energy consumption for playing/solve a hidden object scene (location). In the end you must make hours play breaks to refresh the energy automatic, use found food to refresh a part of the energy (you never have enough to do much with it) or use the optional micro transaction (from my point of view a slap in the face of the customers -this advantage is NEVER worth the demanded money!-). The hidden object scenes can feel repetitive because you need for quests partly very much of the same items that drop only at one or two locations. The artwork is nice. I recommend it in a sale for around 50 cents. I recommend you don't get caught up in spending real money in the game just to progress. If you prefer to test first a free to play hog game with micro transaction try, Lost Lands, that I mentioned. after that you know what you will buy here (nearly the same with faster progress) I recomment the game because i had fun with it and got it cheap. Would have been better on Facebook. I want to like this game, cause I endulge frequently in casual puzzle games, Usually I play similar games in like this in one go. However, having to wait or pay to refill your energy it is just rediculous for a game on Steam. Also, where other games have you spend 1 energy for a level. This game has some weird setup where you spend 10 energy on one level and 13 or 15 on the next. In the end, if you're looking for a quick fix in item finding puzzles, this can keep you busy for half an hour. If you want more of a binge gaming session stay clear of this.
This can become a pretty fun game if you are a patient sort of person. This is a free game, so there is a pay system set up to help you play longer sessions and to aid you should you get stuck, but you never actually have to pay to fully enjoy the whole game. As long as you don't mind putting in only a half hour once or twice a day and then moving on to something else, this game is fairly satisfying. The artwork is beautiful and the story is engaging, there is plenty of variety in the hidden object scenes, and there is a fair amount of choice as far as what to do on the map which makes for a surprising strategy element to the game. It does take a few days or so to get the hang of how the game plays out, but as it is free to try, there is no reason not to give it a whirl and see if this title is for you. If you do find you enjoy this title check out the Lost Lands: Hidden Object and Lost Lands: Mahjong free-to-play games as well.
Mystic Saga is a easy and fun casual play game that you can log in for 30min to unwind and relax. It's great if it's free... But now it is for sale I do not recommend it. The game is an amalgamation of Asiatic cultures borrowing from Chinese, Tibetan, Japanese and other smaller mythic traditions. Its slightly bizarre to play as the clearly western writers have mashed up the traditions and don't seem to understand the significance of the meanings but simply adding an 'Asian flavour' to the Hidden Object game. And this is most definitely a Hidden Object game as there are no other puzzles or variations on gameplay. The game has the standard modes such as day and night, silhouette or words, and the game cycles each map (area) independently. There are quests to direct you to certain areas for bonus xp and money to help motivate you to continue playing. The game also has a rpg like development in that as you level up you can unlock new areas and areas also level up to drop more items, have longer search times and more variety in objects to find. Searching for objects is straightforward however there are two things that lead to frustration: firstly, the drops that appear on the screen when you are searching that then obscure the image causing distraction and secondly, the mouse clicks don't always register first time meaning you sometimes have to click twice to select the object. The maps (areas) are beautifully illustrated and have clear fore-, mid- and backgrounds to assist when searching for objects. The objects themselves are also well illustrated with a variety of colours and sizes to blend them into the backgrounds better. The quest givers are all prettily drawn with slight animation overlaying them to give them character and life. The story is oddly completely revealed in the book already and doesn't expand as you unlock new areas and characters which is a little odd. It could be a quick 30min per day game but some very frustrating design flaws make this game on to avoid unless you are patient and dedicated to completing it. (Free since I took the game before it was given a price).
