This is easily one of the best challenging co-op games. Every stage feels like a brand-new game thanks to constantly evolving mechanics, Ideas and "speed-runnable" levels. The in-game emotes are so intuitive you don't necessarily need a mic, but communication is highly recommended any way you can. The gadget distribution feels like one player is doing most of the heavy lifting with a "Swiss Army Knife" set of gadgets, while the other goes through the game with just one primary item.
this game needs to be seen more its amazing
This game is fantastic. Should be tried by all fans of hard platformers like Celeste and Super Meat Boy. Hopefully you've got a friend who is also a good platformer. We had an absolute blast playing this couch co-op.
I haven't found a game that felt like this in a long time. Just laughing with my buddy at all the silly fails made us feel so nostalgic, fantastic game design, thank you developers.
Absolutely one of the most underrated co-op games! It’s basically a cooperative version of "Celeste". Beating each stage relies heavily on teamwork, precision platforming, and perfect timing. Plus, every new themed area introduces clever new mechanics to keep things fresh. Just prepare to die 2,000+ times!
My god, this game is incredible. Who are you people? Flawless on-line co-op? 200MB download? Free friend-pass? Cross-platform play on the way? This is one of those indie games that will blow up when it hits consoles, and I'll be all like, "I liked this game BEFORE it was popular. Poser."
Brave Escape is a demanding cooperative platformer that focuses entirely on teamwork, fast reflexes, and precision movement to deliver an intense multiplayer experience built around communication and synchronization. Developed and published by Hit Start Studios, the game throws two players into a dangerous world packed with traps, environmental hazards, and increasingly complex platforming challenges where survival depends on both players working together perfectly. Instead of emphasizing storytelling or cinematic presentation, Brave Escape commits fully to skill-based gameplay and cooperative problem-solving, creating a fast-paced arcade-style adventure that rewards persistence, patience, and strong coordination. The core concept revolves around two playable characters, Colin and Floyd, attempting to navigate hundreds of dangerous obstacle-filled levels spread across several hazardous regions. Each character possesses unique abilities that directly affect how puzzles and platforming sections are approached. Floyd uses a powerful boost mechanic capable of launching players through difficult terrain, while Colin relies on a climbing rope that allows access to otherwise unreachable areas. These mechanics constantly interact throughout the game, forcing players to communicate carefully and coordinate every movement in order to survive. One of the game’s strongest qualities is its dedication to true cooperative gameplay. Many multiplayer platformers allow players to function independently most of the time, but Brave Escape constantly demands active teamwork. Nearly every level contains sections where precise timing, synchronized actions, and trust between players become absolutely necessary. Success often depends on one player setting up movement opportunities for the other, creating a satisfying sense of partnership rarely seen in many cooperative games. The level design is another major highlight. Brave Escape contains a huge variety of stages that steadily increase in difficulty while introducing new hazards and mechanics at a carefully controlled pace. Early levels teach players the fundamentals of movement and teamwork before gradually evolving into much more brutal obstacle sequences involving spikes, collapsing platforms, moving traps, lasers, environmental hazards, and split-second timing challenges. The difficulty escalation generally feels natural because players are given enough time to adapt before more complicated mechanics begin overlapping together. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the experience is the wide range of gadgets and environmental tools introduced throughout progression. Different regions provide specialized equipment such as grapple hooks, freeze guns, magnet guns, wind launchers, and flashlights that dramatically alter how players interact with the environment. These additions prevent the gameplay from becoming repetitive because every major area introduces fresh movement mechanics and puzzle ideas that reshape how players approach traversal. The themed environments also help maintain a strong sense of progression throughout the adventure. Players travel through icy caverns, glowing underground ruins, mechanical trap chambers, ancient structures, and dangerous mountain regions filled with unique hazards and visual identities. Although the game keeps storytelling relatively minimal, the environmental variety still creates the feeling of going on a large-scale cooperative adventure across a hostile world. Movement mechanics are extremely responsive, which is critical for a game so heavily focused on difficult precision platforming. Jumping, climbing, boosting, and navigating hazards all feel smooth and reliable, ensuring that failures usually feel tied to player mistakes rather than inconsistent controls. The game constantly encourages players to improve execution and memorize obstacle patterns, creating an addictive gameplay loop where repeated failure gradually transforms into mastery through practice and coordination. The pacing also works very well for the type of experience the game aims to deliver. Most levels are short enough to encourage repeated attempts without becoming overly frustrating, while quick restarts help maintain momentum after failure. Frequent deaths become part of the learning process rather than major interruptions, allowing players to stay focused on improving their performance instead of becoming exhausted by long reload times. Another smart design choice is the inclusion of two separate difficulty settings. Standard mode provides a more accessible experience with gentler platforming and more forgiving obstacle timing, making the game approachable for casual players and younger audiences. Brave mode significantly increases the challenge and transforms the game into a much more punishing precision platformer designed for experienced players seeking extreme coordination tests and difficult obstacle sequences. This flexibility helps the game appeal to multiple skill levels without compromising its core cooperative identity. Visually, Brave Escape embraces a colorful retro-inspired pixel art style that works extremely well for its gameplay structure. The environments remain visually clear even during chaotic sections filled with hazards, which is essential for a platformer requiring split-second reactions. Bright environmental effects, futuristic mechanical traps, and varied region designs all contribute to the game’s energetic arcade atmosphere. The soundtrack and audio design also support the gameplay effectively. Fast-paced music maintains tension and momentum during difficult platforming sections, while sound effects tied to movement, gadgets, and hazards provide satisfying feedback that reinforces the rhythm of the gameplay. The energetic audio presentation helps strengthen the game’s arcade-inspired personality throughout the adventure. Replay value is another positive aspect. Hidden collectibles, optional secrets, achievements, and increasingly difficult challenge sections encourage players to revisit levels and improve performance even after completing the main progression. Since much of the game revolves around mastering mechanics and refining coordination, replaying stages naturally becomes part of the long-term appeal. However, Brave Escape is not without flaws. The most obvious limitation is its strict dependence on cooperative play. Since the entire experience revolves around two-player interaction and no true single-player alternative exists, players without a reliable partner are unable to fully experience the game. While this decision strengthens the cooperative design, it naturally limits accessibility for solo players. The difficulty level can also become overwhelming at times. Even with Standard mode available, later stages often require near-perfect execution and extremely precise communication. Players unfamiliar with precision platformers may find some sequences frustrating due to the sheer amount of coordination required. Some technical roughness is occasionally noticeable as well. Certain mechanics can feel slightly inconsistent during more chaotic moments, and some players have reported minor issues related to movement responsiveness and multiplayer connectivity. These problems rarely ruin the experience entirely, but they can occasionally interrupt the otherwise satisfying gameplay flow. For fans of cooperative platformers, precision obstacle games, and multiplayer experiences focused on communication and skill development, Brave Escape delivers a highly entertaining challenge filled with tension, creativity, and rewarding progression. Its strong cooperative identity and relentless focus on teamwork make it one of the more memorable indie co-op platformers currently available on Steam. Rating: 9/10
One of the best platformers I've ever played, as someone fond of precision platformers and asymmetric co-op. Brave Escape does a fantastic job of steadily but fairly ramping difficulty to make clearing each zone continue to feel satisfying. Whether intentionally taking cues or just convergent design choices, it reminds me heavily of I Wanna be the Co-op, another co-op precision platformer. However I think Brave Escape polishes up the concept and presentation so well as to be the best of the co-op platformers I've played. When you find someone to play with, try to find someone who's either around the same skill level as you, or persistent enough to keep trying even when things get hard. The base game itself is a reasonable difficulty, but should you choose to do any of the hidden rooms, they can get truly challenging (some even took me and my partner over an hour to complete by themselves, though only a few times). Additionally when choosing which characters to play with your partner, my personal opinion is that Colin has slightly harder platforming segments, but Floyd has to manage the zone gimmicks more which is its own challenge, so I'd recommend choosing who plays who with that in mind. Excellent game, a very strong recommend to any precision platformer fans who can rustle up somebody to join 'em.
What a gem! I'd burned through all the other platformers when I stumbled across Brave Escape. I expected a mid-effort, pretty good platformer, but oh boy was I wrong. This game has some fantastic mechanics and depth to the puzzle platforming that takes it places I haven't seen co-op platformers go. And it's huge! Tons of levels that mix up the environment and abilities to keep things fresh and challenging. The movement looks, and is, a bit floaty, but don't let that put you off. You get used to the feel of it really quickly and it suits the level design really well! And a FRIEND'S PASS! $20 and you can play with whoever you want! ❤️ Brave Escape deserves way more attention by the platforming community.
Fantastic game. Movement mechanics, teamwork, puzzles, and overall level design all come together in a rich and satisfying experience. Completing the base game and collecting all green RAM is easily 20-30h of quality content, with more to explore if you want to find secret levels and collect red RAM. As long as you've got someone to play with (the friend's pass is also a great feature), this is a must-play for 2D platforming enthusiasts.
