About
The first roguelike deckbuilder to use player skill as mana. We combined strategy and speed to create a new take on the genre. Can you cast the perfect combination before the clock runs out? Choose your own path and face relentless waves of invaders to defend the sacred oak groves.
Every turn is a test of quick thinking and precision, the right pattern at the right moment can turn defeat into victory, or hesitation can lead to disaster. Build your deck, hone your reflexes, and unleash the full potential of your spells against the relentless invaders and their leaders.
Skill based casting: No mana costs. Cast as many spells as you can by matching their patterns before each turn’s timer runs out.
Powerful Combinations: Chain spell abilities to supercharge every spell you cast that turn. The more unique abilities you trigger, the stronger each spell becomes.
Celestial Upgrades: Draw power from the stars to shape your deck your way. Add cards, remove the ones that don’t align with your strategy, and discover enhanceable magical items that strengthen your abilities.
Use your spell book wisely: strategically cast around your spell book and use new nodes for each spell to debuff your enemies, or seek out multiplier nodes, where casting spells on the same spot will amplify every stat of the final spell.

It's a fun little game with original mechanic. I think price reflects quite accurately of how much it offers. After 1 successful run (~2h) I think I saw 100% of the game's content and I'm not encouraged to play more. Still I think it's worth to give it a shot.
This is indeed a little hidden gem, that actually not lying about the description, your skill is your main damage dealer on this roguelike. After 12 hours i could 100% it and gave me a good time. Games like this deserve more recognition
You really cannot beat the price of this game. Insane value for a game this unique. Building your spells up to godly levels feels amazing. Especially when big enemies start dropping like flies. Only one warning. Your power heavily depends on your accuracy with the mouse. It doesnt matter how much of a god run you think you are on, if you misplay your casting for even one turn past the first boss, the enemies will kill you from full health. I almost think there should be a once per run consumable, where you dump all your spells you cast and just block all damage. But theres also the option to just get good. Anyways 10/10 game.
Appropriately priced considering the lack of depth, this game is pretty fun. I hope it forms the core of a future release with much more depth, as I'd like to play for many hours. As is, it's a fun little snack of a game.
Patterns of the Oak is a roguelike deckbuilder with a pretty unique approach. This game is not as much about strategy and deckbuilding, but more about card customization and drawing skill... Yes, because in this game you play your cards by drawing the pattern that appears on them, and you don't have a limited amount of energy, but a limited amount of seconds to draw as many patterns as you can every turn. Because of that, at the moment of deckbuilding you will need to take into consideration, not only what you need in terms of damage, defense and buffs, but also if you will be able to deal with the patterns required to cast them. Honestly, a really fresh twist to the turn-based roguelike genre that keeps you busier in terms of precision and reflexes, almost as if it was a shooter, than using the mind, so it might not be the cup of tea for every deckbuilding fan. Of course, you will still have to take into consideration some enemies' behavior when playing, as well as some synergies/combinations of cards while playing, so it's not all brawls, you still need some brains. Patterns of the Oak counts with 3 different playable characters, each one with different unlocks, and a total of 13 difficulties, to keep yourself busy and entertain for more than a couple of hours. As an extra detail, notice than this game counts with 4 different bosses, plus a final boss, but you will only face 3 of the 4 and you get to select the order, which can be pretty convenient depending of what suits you better or what boss you think it's harder. Because of all that I mentioned, I think this is a great game, and especially worth it considering the cheap price. Very cool game with original concept. I managed to clear it on normal difficulty under 1 hour. Will try hard and other decks. It's very satisfying to perform the spells, especially if you have to remember them because of the boss mechanics. The AOE upgrade is definitely OP tho, I would tone it down, since the other upgrade dealing 50% to other enemy is basically useless in comparison. I get that there are anti-AOE mobs, but still, it could be like 50% of the original damage or something. Still, I heavily recommend to play, 9/10. The visuals and music are awesome. Feels really good to play the game. Looking forward to future updates!
If you want a fun, unique twist on the card battler genre, Patterns of Oak is a great fit!
Certainly worth the price. I'm a card game designer and played plentiful of card games throughout my life. The concept is really worth trying out. There are some aspects to polish like minor bugs, and needs to be properly balanced as some fights feel a bit off (elites are often easier than regular fights, some relics are busted etc). Nevertheless had lots of fun with it. Hope we'll have more cards and unlocks in future, as concept definitely deserves more cards and increased price tag, as currently buying this game for 2$ is a steal
okay so ive played about 2.5 hours , game is fun and different. only bug i encountered was sometimes in the first round of combat my cards would cover the bottom half of my book making it hard to cast certain spells. The gameplay difference between easy and normal is very very noticeable. so i cant even imagine playing on the god difficulties. but for a game that just came out and im hoping will have updates and q.o.l changes i hope to see where it goes! i wouldnt reccomend it yet for someone new to the genre but for the price its not a HUGE investment. 4 bucks for what you get is pretty fair so good on the dev not overcharging like so many other games in the same category.
гарна гра, цікава, трохи важкувато бо я не фанат mouse hunters, але якщо додати невеликій cell snap буде краще
