Wrath of the Righteous is probably the better RPG, Owlcat game, and starting point - Rogue Trader sounds the most beginner-friendly of all, from everything I've heard, but I still haven't played it. Still, this is a fantastic CRPG and a great second stop after Rogue Trader and/or WotR. A bit more obtuse and user-unfriendly than WotR, somehow. Slower, explains itself worse, some really gnarly systems like the Kingdom time limits and whatnot. A game I feel very few compunctions about modding or recommending mods for a first run. Wrath of the Righteous' defining sin is making a guy who should be a miniboss into the hardest, most impossible dude whoever lived out of nowhere at a rate of one per every 5-10 hours of gameplay. Kingmaker's is hitting you with that classic "This area demands a specific damage type or defensive spell to be reasonably completed. Oh, you didn't stock up on Cold Iron weapons even though there's only like, five in the game? What's wrong with you, idiot." I always sound very down when I talk about Owlcat's RPGs, but their prickliness really is part of the charm for me. Aside from that, similar to WotR: One of the coolest, most engrossing class systems in any RPG. Lotta stinkers because of the sheer volume, it's not "balanced" in the traditional sense, but it's got depths and depths and depths. Sorta game you'll seriously consider making a new character in after 20 hours, just because the other options are so enticing. Fewer options than WotR, and I miss mounts, but conversely I'm glad that having a strong, high difficulty-ready character doesn't *demand* taking a mounted class like in WotR. Fun, interesting writing that surprised me with its quality given this is Owlcat's debut effort and translated from Russian to boot. More unvarnished wish fulfillment than WotR - you're literally a monarch - but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Jubilost and Ekundayo are my GOATs. Definitely an all-timer CRPG that presaged more, arguably even better CRPGs down the line from the same people.
This might be one of the best introductions to Pathfinder First Edition, the table top. Rules are not 1 to 1, there is some variation, but the core values of the system are there in videogame form. Sadly, Wrath of the Righteous is the superior game, but I don't think Kingmaker has to be skipped. It has fewer options and combat is simpler and there's nothing wrong with that. Kingmaker is a game I can play in real time mode and not have to worry about being suboptimal on core difficulty. And fewer options for a newcomer means that they can read better the game and make decisions. That being said, the game could make use of quality of life improvements made in the sequel, things like better shop and inventory UI, camera and overall a more clear presentation. Pacing is also a problem, there are going to be times where you are just passing days waiting for something to happen. Also it has some bugs, more notable are things like, casting a spell or an ability on turn mode, or having a bunch of npcs join the combat, the game just stops and you have to change into real time mode and back to turn mode to unstuck itself. It didn't happen a lot, but it shows more in the endgame and with crunchier fights. Overall, I've enjoyed my time replaying the game. Outside of the PF shpere it is a step game and the sequel is even more so, but if you are in for feature packed rpgs, with a lot of choices in combat, story and character building, this one will satisfy you.
If you want baldur's gate , but recent.
Huge and amazing rpg. The plot is really good, good characters and cool choices. The entire game is on a timer, you'll never run out unless you try, things happen at set times which is very unique and immersive. The game can be brutal in the very beginning and the enemies in the very end are the least fun in the entire game. The pathfinder system while faithful isn't the best in a crpg, it puts more emphasis on preparing a fight than what you do in the fight and can feel stat-check heavy. Wrath of the righteous is a better starting point for the pathfinder games being more forgiving but I found the plot and world in kingmaker much more engaging.
Super RPG was richtig lange geht. Ist der Anfang von Owlcat das sieht man manchmal noch. Aber war hier schon mega
The ruleset carries this game HARD.
Esta muy bueno el juego, la unica queja que le pongo y es algo personal, esque no esta parchado a español porque mi ingles no es muy bueno, batallo mucho traduciendo con google las misiones o los dialogos y se me hace pesado.
