This game is an endless cycle of "Oh, I bet this would be a cool build!" *tries build* *dies* *Unlocks something new* "Oh, I bet this would be a cool build!", repeat forever (or at least until you unlock everything). I lucked into a good build on my first run and thought 'Oh, this game is easy!' and then the Second Cycle of Degradation proceeded to kick my ass for my next several runs. But I've made it to the Third Cycle of Hope now! Anyway, really cool game if you like sitting on stats screens comparing options for a really long time. Which, I do, as it turns out.
good, make a 2nd one

Some games are frustrating more often than they are fun, but we gauge their value by how fun they are only when they are fun. Most of the time, you die a thousand deaths for just one final moment of fun. You put up with many things that can go wrong and learn to deal with failure, but you don’t stop playing. Path of Achra has become my favourite torture and go-to roguelike. I have died a thousand deaths in the past year. Short Review
All the autism of traditional roguelikes with none of the keyboard requirements.
number and sound goes big, big dopamine
Best game I've ever played in terms of theory-crafting builds to be broken/fun synergies yet within a pretty short time frame of each run. Particularly enjoyable that there are lots of builds possible for stranger archetypes like staying still, teleporting around, summoning hordes, etc. Graphics grow on you super quickly, although you will be too engrossed in the game and breaking builds to notice anyway...
It's night now, I'm tired, I have to get up early for work tomorrow. And I'm sitting here, with my eyes half-closed from exhaustion And playing this instead of going to bed like a grown man 10/10
>Try new build idea >Die 4 regions in >Swear profusely at RNGesus >Try same build again >Learned nothing
9.5 out of 10. What a great game! Congrats to the developer. *i wish it was possible to mod the monsters, classes, and races names.
