it has a lot of glitches but nothing game breaking, the house building is nice and it feels like they put a lot of effort in places that have been neglected for long time. I like the challenge of building different skills and school grades affecting jobs and making every para feel different in cool ways.
Building and decorating is already so great, as more items and features get added it will only get better.
Take this from the lens of someone who has played Sims (as I'm assuming many of you have) for 15+ years prior to trying this game THE GOOD: -create mode options (hair options/colors, body modifications, clothing options, gender options, etc) all great for base game -build mode is great -clutter options (think like tissue boxes, pencils, pots and pans, jars, laundry baskets, etc) are amazing! It's easy to make spaces feel actually lived in for cheap (many of these items are under $100 each, most cheaper than $40) -art style is unique but in a good way -life stages (at default rates) feel good in length. Added stages in childhood development to include preteen is necessary (IMO) and nice to see. Toddler independence is great (the only thing you have to help them with is eating). They are automatically potty trained to use a toddler toilet, can walk and interact with toys and objects independently. If you've played Sims you'll know how annoying toddler stage can be! It does not feel this way in paralives, for better or worse depending on how you feel about that. Baby stage is a little more involved but also much less frequent (vs Sims) and overall less of a burden on adult Paras THE BAD -overall camera issues and clunkiness while playing. Depending on the layout of certain plots, camera will often kind of "wonk out" and I had to double click my para to re-orient the camera. Once in a while? Fine. But this was happening a LOT in my 3 story house -confusing work/kids school trees (and progression) and it's not really explained what to do or how to prioritize things, I just had to figure it out myself. I mean that's fine, but I don't think it would have killed to have a pop up explaining these systems which take up a lot of the Para's lives -a lot of clunkiness with Para's dismissing things from their action queue for seemingly no reason. While other times they would flawlessly follow a queue of like 4 commands. Other times they'd stop doing something for no reason or for trivial reasons (another Para in their path for a second or less) -no way to assign beds: my family of 5 was CONSTANTLY knocking out in each others beds and rooms. I'll be honest it created some funny situations of where the f*** is __________?! but overall such an annoying thing to have to correct every single night if I don't think to check that they're getting tired THE UGLY -many items have no function. Like literally they are just for you, the player, to look at. Game consoles, handhelds, certain seating options (stools), and many available items of furniture simply cannot be interacted with and they'll treat it like wall art. Other pieces of "usable" furniture warp the Para even when used "correctly". Example: certain styles of sofa have giant gaps between the Para's back and the actual back of the couch when seated. Overall, honestly, more items ARENT interactable in any way than are. Even things like candles often can't be lit at all. Lights can't be turned off/on/adjusted, etc. -interactions between Paras: very limited social options. My Paras are married and my only options for them to interact is to kiss, hug, talk, or have S** in the bed or shower. (lol). Some options come up WHILE you're talking to be slightly more specific (like say "i love you", "wink at _____"). But the interactions still feel overall flat and meaningless. Doing things "together" often means silently doing the same thing side by side with no conversation or banter -constant need to use "UNSTUCK" feature for hardstuck Paras -glitched quests: my main Para is married with 3 kids and still has "Have first kiss" as a goal. It makes no sense because she's constantly kissing her partner. Other pinned wants I've achieved, are still marked as unaccomplished. And so on... -Limited things to do. Just period full stop. Partially because of the items (lack of) available currently. OVERALL: Get it on sale for now. There's some really truly great things here. But for $40? The quality and content is just not there yet, which is why I had to be honest and a little harsh in my review. But it's undeniably fun... when it all works... for a while. Here's hoping it continues to grow and improve!!
very promising game so far! unsurprisingly for a game in early access, it is quite buggy though, so i would probably recommend waiting until it's fully out if you have a lower spec computer like mine. that being said, if you're desperate to play it NOW, i've found it runs much smoother since the more recent patches (latest patch as of this review was 17th of july 2026). so long as you don't expect it to run super smoothly (if you're on lower specs you probably should be used to that anyway), it's a great game!
i cannot for the life of me find the file i have to remove to actually play the game, but i can create my paras and build them a house, and for me those actions enough are so well done that i WILL recommened paralives {and have} to everyone i know.
i´ve been waiting for this game since 2018 or 2019. So excited i finally get to play, i love to see this game grow!!
Perfect combo of stardew valley, sims and its very own nature. Intuitive gameplay, love the tarot cards that add a randomness and inspo to your narrative. Some glitches still. Wold like them to work on: child bugging all the time - swich back and forth moods not updatading profile picture when aging need to make squares like in sims need to change wether diagonal vs stragight/vertical/horisaontal view mapping in build mode need to be able to select more objects while holding shift for deleting/smashing in build mode i love the slight echo effect of the children/ toddlers always have. makes it more real! you know, they are always there but cannot feed child in high chair because of bugs
Pretty good game! Still in early access but overall a wellrounded game :)
LOVE THE BUILDING
