About
OVRLRD is a true mech simulator inspired by the classics, with a voice-acted single-player campaign, fully-featured mission editor, and native built-in VR support.
Influenced by games like Steel Battalion, VTOL VR and MechWarrior 3, OVRLRD puts you in a fully-simulated cockpit, controlling a complex war machine. Use your mouse, keyboard, HOTAS or VR controllers to manipulate physical buttons, switches, levers, throttles, joysticks and more.
Stomp tanks, blast infantry, strafe other mechs in close quarters, snipe the legs off your foes at mid-range, or rain artillery down on enemy bases from miles away. An OVRLRD operator is expected to dominate the battlefield in every role.
Embark on an intriguing single-player campaign written by a published sci-fi author, following in the large mechanical footsteps of the classics. You'll run routine patrols, long-range combat engagements, low-profile reconnaissance missions and more.
Stomp through the campaign, then meet your match in multiple skirmish game modes where the battlefield is different each time, but full of smashable buildings and forests you can raze to the ground.

You heard me. The tools I use to make the campaign are at your fingertips. Use the powerful, intuitive mission editor to sculpt terrain, build cities, assemble armies and design missions with fully operational narrative flows. Triggers, scripted events, AI behaviours and more are in your toolbox, and you can share it all for free on the Steam Workshop!

An OVRLRD platform is a collection of dangerous systems working in tandem, and one mistake can spell disaster. An OVRLRD operator must maintain combat effectiveness while managing system temperature and coolant levels, sensor capabilities, targeting systems, drone optics and leg stability - as well as compensating for damaged or lost subsystems. Watch your step!
OVRLRD's custom environment system tracks the havoc you wreak across the world. Use your fifty-foot war machine to smash down buildings, scar the countryside with craters and scorchmarks, track enemy mechs by their footprints and level everything when your reactor detonates.
No more cramped caves, fenced-off quarries or conveniently small arenas. You'll operate in massive outdoor environments at milsim-scale. Burn through forested hills, snipe from treacherous mountaintops, and carve paths through windswept grasslands with simulated rain, lightning, wildfires and dust storms.
Problems with motion sickness? Have a certain way you like to play? OVRLRD comes with a large and growing list of VR comfort settings, from blocking out peripheral cockpit windows and reducing visual noise to disabling aim kick and cockpit tilting. Accessibility requests are taken seriously and I want to ensure that everyone who wants to can play OVRLRD.

Non-VR review, Ive been craving a modern mech sim for awhile now that isnt uh, deprecated for lack of better words and this game has been scratching many of those itches also implementing things that generally are seen in flight sims but at more simple level (not a complaint i dont want to spend 3 hours studying a pdf to shoot big gun on robot) and i think it plays very well into this games strengths, ignore comments about graphics, there fine if your using a beast pc and complaining your game doesnt look like MW5 why not go play that instead not everyone has the best specs so im thinkin yall abit selfish now to actually talk about the gameplay as earlier said the actual sim part is simple but has alot of depth guns have varying target ranges, bullets have travel time and distance, missiles while have only having a few launchers function somewhat differently from one another also howitzers and artillery cannons are an option with shelling being another toy for you play with also varying lasers and mechs alongside these options oh i shouldnt forget the freelance mode it has some issues with tanks ending up in water but for the most part it gives this game alot of replayability and now to talk about mouse and keyboard controls in the current state i think they work wonderfully they are subject to change cause its early access so dont forget that bit when HOTAS finally gets implemented i think it will help alot more with Non-vr players like myself for immersion/fun or simply its more useful depending on the setup (also if a RES option could be included the future that would be cool but idk if it being a VR game limits this capability due to it being borderless fullscreen if im noticing correctly)
Great game love it. The most in depth and complex mech game I have played yet
It's like VTOL VR but on the ground.
The mechanics are very cool but it is a very rough game. At the moment the campaign missions fail to complete and in freelance mode you will build a mech and spend your money on a mission, only to have it explode before you even load into the cockpit.
As a lover of all things stompy-robots, I was overjoyed to find this game on Steam, followed by dismay to see it was for VR. However, curiosity got the best of me and I checked out the demo, and was elated to find this works perfectly without a VR headset! Not even an hour in and I'm having a ton of fun. It's clear this was a labor of love, and I love supporting small indie projects like this. Get this game if you enjoy mechs in any capacity, and don't fear if you don't have a VR headset! It's fully enjoyable without one!
I haven't played in a hot second, but even before the more recent updates, the game did a phenomenal job scratching my "vr pilot game that's more inventive than just more fighter planes" itch. I also really like how this OVRLRD does aiming and long range ballistics, put me in a katyusha mech and I can die happy. Also it's got a demo so you might as well try it. Also doesn't need vr! Haven't tried non-vr tho.
This is one of the coolest sims I've played. Not much of a VR guy, but there is a lot of care and realism going into it. I dig it.
I don't often review games this early into their development - clearly this game is HIGHLY in Alpha, with alot of missing features and bugs, so can only recommend this for the hardcore sim mecha crowd (which isnt alot of people). That said, this has the potential in my honest opinion to be the best mech vr game with any systems depth. What is here, is pretty tight and enjoyable in a steel battalion, VTOL VR esque fashion and the basic gameplay is pretty involved. The fact its focusing on Singleplayer first I think will give it legs, especially if COOP or other MP modes come in the future to build off it. It is also, in pretty active development and is not abandoned.
Good stompy mech action, something i think a lot of games dont get right, but this hits the notes for a nice Chunky mech game, and an unparreled feeling in VR, sooo many buttons feels cool
