I cannot recommend this game enough. It is a tragedy that this game will not get a sequel man. Firstly, the campaign is awesome. It is a full fledged 25-30 hour story with twists and turns you would not expect from your typical "looter shooter" story mode. PCF put alot into the story and the world building behind this game, this was not half assed, they deff went for something with the tone and humour. I found myself reading almost all of the journal entries because i found the story of the world and the people in it intriguing. Not only is the story engaging, but unlike most loot games, the gear game starts from very early in your campaign experience. Awesome loot isnt locked behind endgame, mere hours into the game you start to find powerful mods on loot that make you alter your playstyle. The gear game in Outriders is up there as one of the best in the genre (from my admittedly limited experience). The mods/perks are fun, creative, meaningful and powerful, they encourage experimentation and multiple playthroughs/character rolls. The class system contributes to that as well as there are 4 classes all with about 9 different skills and so many uniqure perks/armour sets tied to those skills. The gameplay itself is so fun, it really harkens back to that xbox 360 era shooter power fantasy, channeling the likes of Gears of War in feel. I mean this in the best possible way, it offers a unique experience from that perspective, a modern twist to that very nostalgic game feel. The game isn't gonna crush any graphics cards but i do appreciate it's artstyle, even more so with the World Slayer DLC, as the environments added to the game offer some very beautiful landscapes to traverse. Performance on my Legion Laptop with an RTX 4080 was very smooth, no complaints on that side, atleast for the base game. I just started the DLC and all of a sudden i get some hitches and crashes, but so far nothing that ruins my love for the game. TLDR: A MUST PLAY FOR LOOT GAME FANS and I would a;so strongly recommend it for gamers who just like playing through shooter campaigns. The story is surprisingly solid.
