Outriders is one of those games that hooks you visually before it ever hooks you mechanically. The environments are genuinely gorgeous—strong lighting, detailed textures, solid environmental design, and models that don’t look like they were assembled in a rush job. It doesn’t feel like a tech demo, and it doesn’t feel cheap. The world has weight, atmosphere, and a sense of scale that makes exploring it feel purposeful instead of like filler between combat arenas. The story is better than it has any right to be. It leans into mystery, slow reveals, and a tone that actually takes itself seriously without becoming self-parody. It doesn’t drown you in lore dumps, but it gives you just enough narrative tension to make you want to keep pushing forward. There’s a grounded sci-fi grit to it that works in its favor—harsh world, desperate people, and a setting that doesn’t pretend everything is going to be okay. Combat is where Outriders shines and stumbles at the same time. It’s fast, aggressive, and often stressful in a good way—the kind of stress that feels earned, not cheap. But the loop can get repetitive. Once you find an effective ability combo, you’re basically incentivized to spam it endlessly because the game’s systems reward efficiency over creativity. It works, it’s fun, but it can slide into monotony if you’re not actively forcing yourself to experiment. Unfortunately the same goes for build diversity, as you're better off just min-maxing. The bad is mostly systemic. Enemy encounters start to feel samey, difficulty spikes can feel artificial instead of tactical, and the gameplay loop doesn’t evolve enough to keep the pacing fresh all the way through. It’s not a broken game, but it is a repetitive one. Outriders ends up being a solid, well-made experience that never fully transcends its own design limitations—fun, good-looking, compelling at times, but trapped in a loop that eventually shows its seams.
Played the game when it came out on Playstation, back then it was really fun. Then came worldslayer, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dlc not worth its price but ehh the game was still fun with friends. Then the major nerfs happened and the support was droped. Now your stuck with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoyance that didnt even come close to the fun it was: The endgame is terrible boring, a absolute catastrophe in terms of constantly being frozen over and over and over and over by enemy's, the loot is even more horrible now then Diablo 4 at its peak ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loot season( currently season 12, which is the worst of all)... The lootpool is way to big as is the mod pool that can roll on the loot, i basically spend 20hrs to try and get at least one or two decent pieces of the Shieldbeast set with a usefull 3rd roll, guess what 0 chance and i am flexible in terms of the mod, prolly something about 15ish different variants that could have worked as 3rd mod but forget that. Old or new bugs dont get fixed anymore and overall the game is just dead. Footnote - even the crossplatform multiplayer DOES NOT FUNCTION at all properly, expect constant disconnects or serverkicks if you want to play pc + console(tried with a friend on xbox, absolutly impossible) So save your bucks and get something better, its sad really... the game really WAS fun before they decided to completely ruin it.
good game, only sad, because there is no futher development, like "Outriders 2", owerall 10/10.
Just an all around fun game and the weapon system is awesome. upgrading brings you lots of power. Super fun to play in co-op too!
yep, exactly what most neg reviews say, got this on sale and the stupid thing is'nt supported by the devs and still requires a presistant internet connection to play. Just got disconnected for the umpteenth time and well...not a reccomendation. Other than that, the game is nothing special. Not recommended.
A super basic story but with really solid gameplay. Destiny meets Gears of War. A ton of customization, just not too much end game content (unless you like running the same dungeon over and over). Get a friend and go shoot stuff, pretty enjoyable.
I played the sh** out of this game back when it released and I did so via i think xbox game pass. Now I decided to buy it to pay homage, started playing again and i felt compelled to leave this review. People like different things but this game does what it sets out to do very very well. What struck me the most is how i got engaged with the story, which imo is quite interesting. Humanity on the brink of extinction trying to find a new habitable world amongst the stars - gone very wrong :) I am 44 y.o. and not easily entertained but this game got me by the balls. I finished the campaign in couple of sittings and then went on to refining my build (i didnt play the 'worldslayer' yet) and spent countless hours on this. The grind was very enjoyable. I like the simplicity of this game, you shoot some stuff in a fun way and find loot which gives quite a lot of possibilities in terms of builds. The items and skills scale up nicely and you can really build a fun glass-cannon character which will melt your enemies even on the highest tier. The game is very well made in my opinion, it is somewhat epic with it's looks, story and music. It clearly pushes UE4 to it's limits with performance being outstanding. (RTX 4070 right now, back when i finished 1st time i had GTX1070 - no problems 60FPS stable). Looking at steam charts today there is little to hope in terms of multiplayer, but for a single player or even a coop experience this is a very fun shooter and i would recommend it to anyone who likes this type of game.
Acompanho a trajetoria do jogo desde 2021, e amo o jogo. Todavia, o jogo e sua empresa criadora, nao assumem o papel para melhorar o game para a comunidade. Creio que, o jogo morreu pela displicencia da empresa, e nao por conta dos jogadores, e por isso minha descricao negativa!
Painfully mediocre. Outriders took many mechanics out of the looter-shooter book without understanding what made them click. The story is nonsensical and the characters infuriating. The whole thing is barely holding together, with cutscenes and audio frequently skipping and not playing properly. Once reaching endgame, one of my skills started malfunctioning and frequently made me lose all control, except movement, over my character and forced to die and fail the activity I was in. It's not Anthem levels of bad, but it's still not something I'd recommend. Even the now rotting corpse of Destiny 2 is probably a better option. Hard pass.
