Our Home, My Keeper

A collab effort between 2 greats in the yuri vn space - Studio Elan & Ebi-Hime. This story follows Paige, a semi successful children's book writer who moves to the countryside during a bout of writer's block & meets Faye, a fairy tasked with protecting the house she has moved into. The story is cute, the art is well done, and the music is atmospheric. As a fan of both developers I hope we see more from them both in a collaborative effort. Finishing the story took me about 4 hours.

Charmingly quaint (and British) writing as ever from Ebi-Hime. This time the production values reach lavish levels since it’s a Studio Elan production. The UI flourishes were particularly nice. There’s a nice realism to the protagonist and her thoughts, with the way she’ll second guess herself or how her musings circle back to her job as a writer. Might be a bit of confirmation bias though since I expect writers to know a writers mind best. Makes one wonder how much of themselves they put in the character. She pairs well with the adorable “max affection from the get go” brownie heroine. My main issue is that it feels a bit too short. The plot itself is fine but it feels like it needs one or two more scenes of slice of life downtime in between each plot development to let the relationship breathe a bit more. When there’s narration like “and then a few weeks passed”, it doesn’t really feel like it. Still, overall a sweet story with just the right amount of seriousness/darkness to add a little spice and a pleasant read throughout.

It's a genuinely interesting story with a nice premise and good flow. If I have any complaints, is that part 2 is a bit too short. Keeping the spoilers to a minimum, I'd say there's not enough development between London and the climax. But I love this story as it is. So far it's my favorite work of ebi-hime and one of studio elan's best.

Our Home, My Keeper is a very fun read, with likeable characters and an interesting mystery.

Literally two inches tall. In all seriousness though, this game was great. I found the characters enjoyable, especially Faye, and was pleasantly surprised with a slightly darker tale than I was expecting. Gay dolly go brrrr
