beautiful art and tight and responsive gameplay. some of the platforming can offer a little challenge but nothing insane or overly cruel. Bought and finished it on the switch and bought the game again to enjoy on the Deck and it's worth every penny!

Ori and the Blind Forest is an excellent 2D action/puzzle platformer. Now, up front I will say that the story and thematic worldbuilding are completely irrelevant to me. I found them both nonsensical and boring. The metroidvania elements were okay but I'm not the biggest fan of needing to constantly backtrack so for me that wasn't really a selling point. So why the positive review? Well, the strength of the game lies in its responsive controls, challenging platforming sequences, clever save/upgrade system, and interesting character upgrade options. It felt very satisfying and rewarding to pull off precision jumps, swings, and dashes as the game continued to ramp up in difficulty. This one is right up there with the platforming classics.
