Вошел скептиком, вышел фанатом. Величайшая работа, которую я видел в этом году.
I'm gonna start of by saying that I did have my share of fun with this game, but it had just a bit too much to frustrate me. It starts with the settings. There is only fullscreen or windowed, which will also be fullscreen, but with a border and part of the game missing at the bottom and right side due to that. I usually play my games in a smaller window or borderless, but neither works. My controller didn't automatically get correctly recognized either, I had to go into steams bigpicture mode and select a different controller layout, for it to work. I'm using a PS4 controller and it usually works. It automatically selects "the official One Dog Story" layout, which doesn't register a single button input. Instead I chose a generic other layout just titled "Gamepad", after that it worked without fail. So even just getting into the game and being able to play took a while longer. The gameplay itself is a typical 2d platforming experience, it works fine, I didn't run into any weird movement related issues or anything and it feels fun enough to play, if you just want to play through it. However, the game hints for you to try and search secrets and stuff, but there is no map. Some sections could really use a map, but seeing as some doors are just closed behind you, without being able to go back, just makes exploring very annoying. Most of the time, after going through a door that doesn't let you go back, there's also a savepoint in the same room, trapping you there, unable to go back. I would have liked to explore a bit more here and there but just couldn't. At some point I think the game starts to spam too many enemies at you aswell. I played on easy for the story and didn't have that much of a hard time because of that, but I could not imagine having to take just twice as much damage for example, I think I would have died many annoying deaths. I'm glad I didn't try to do that. Overall I would have wanted to like this more, but there is too much stuff that bothers me to play any more of it. It seems to actively want to annoy the player..
Underdog story
Random bug or air-pig-f**k is my fav part https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3126321648 One small story: i enjoy climbing up for one small chance that i miss something. On the way to this chance, however, is pain. A lot of pain and non-standard solutions on the jetpack (like taking damage from spikes for extra jump and fuel-management) + expect some turrets, fire-traps and most annoying flying creatures.
You can't even imagine how much I hate them
The reason why i need "something" is laser trap (insta-death-gate) at the bottom of deeeeeep hole. At this moment i didn't know that i need "ELEVATOR", cuz one random locked room says "activate terminal". Ironically the safe point located on a half-way to abyss and necessary object (as i figure it out) is ON a TOP platform that does not look like a "exactly THAT terminal" or elevator at all... It's a long way. As i mentioned, to climb up you need to take damage from spikes, turrets and annoying weird-flying pigs at the same time being on a hard difficulty level. Serious damage that almost leads to death The cherry thing is «you can't reach the top without certain tricks with jetpack» And then - you reach it (and destroy one last pig on top of it). You press the button and slowly go down for a veeeeery long time. At this moment turrets still spawning and some random fire from walls is casting... You are fighting for your life. Two mistakes and you can experience the full range of emotions from fighting gravity again When you reach the bottom of the pit - the boss fight begins And this boss is the most mechanicallly boring from all of them. Every boss in this game is "a little bit boring", but this maggot... Ugh he just broken in every way
he doesn't even really resist and just chases you, summoning only two waves of mobs for the whole sooo long battle
. And as a every boss have - he has an incredibly large hp bar and my shots from every gun, as always, do merely nothing. Thanks. Good experience. In general, I would give a thumbs up for backgrounds, but there are too many problems in the game (mechanics, plot, enemies, weapons, improvements, sound design (BASS BOOSTED MASS-PIGS + BLOW.UP.GUYS) and music especially. Nothing worked out well). Apart from the visual style, there is nothing in it. 2/10 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3126314093
Nice game but it's probably developed by russians so that's why I don't reccomend it.
Decent game with flaws (potential game-breaking issues) As the trailer looked promising, the dog character is cute, and the game was on 92% off sale, I decided to give it a try. The gameplay is actually quite fun - a platformer with item collecting. While not particularly complex, the developers did a good job of keeping the content engaging without becoming too repetitive. The story revolves around exploring a deserted illegal science lab, but you’re not alone- there are various NPC scientists and creatures. This game offers rich content but I skipped most text, focusing on the action part. At the end can choose to spare or kill, join or leave for different endings. The map isn't particularly big but has secret paths and treasure rooms, some of which contain interesting weapons. Despite its low price, this game doesn’t feel cheap. However, to fully enjoy the game, you’ll need to overlook some flaws. Below, I’ll list some of the issues I encountered, but keep in mind despite these, I still think the game is worth playing. Key Mapping My first impression wasn’t great, mainly due to the uncomfortable keyboard mapping. The default settings are: Right-click to jump (push) and Left-click to shoot. My index finger nearly cramped after swinging the baseball bat to deal with a few early evil spiders, and the jump button felt awkward. I remapped the controls to Num 1, Num 3, and Space, making the game much more playable. Weapons The game doesn’t overwhelm you with enemies, but later you’ll definitely need better weapons. The default melee baseball bat can be painful, but once you find a firearm in one of the blue toolboxes, the game becomes enjoyable. There are quite a few unique weapons to discover, since there’s no buying/selling system, weapons can be missed, encouraging players to explore beyond the main mission path. Most weapons have unlimited ammo, enemies often drop limited, powerful ammo, so whether you choose to avoid or eliminate enemies, both strategies feel rewarding. Bosses Most bosses lack complexity. They typically have 1-2 attack patterns, despite their long health bars, they’re easier to deal with than groups of regular enemies. Inventory Mechanics Health and save vendors are easy to find, but the save vendor can only be activated once - when you pass it automatically. If you die, your inventory is lost, including any weapons you picked up before saving. You don’t get to see your inventory, and you can’t interact with it - your items appear when needed. This became an issue for me. At first I didn’t notice, but later, after picking up a rocket gun and die (the game isn’t easy, toxic water and lasers are instant death), I lost the rocket gun and didn’t realize it until the next map. As a result, the rocket gun was locked forever, and I couldn’t pick up its upgrades. The game didn’t detect my inventory to switch it to another upgrade. Game-Breaking Bug After reading posts in the community, I realized I wasn’t the only one with this issue. Later in the game, you’re required to collect 4 crystals, each found in a toolbox in different rooms, to open a portal. Finding the crystals isn’t hard, but collecting all 4 without dying is challenging. The problem is that if you die, you lose the crystals, and they’re nowhere to be found (not in the toolbox anymore). I had to restart the entire level and avoid death to complete the mission. That’s when I faced the real challenge: a room with 3 moving laser bars. I got stuck in the laser room for a while and eventually looked up walkthroughs on YouTube. A 2019 video showed that the lasers should disappear for a second every few seconds, but in my gameplay they didn’t. After restarting the level twice without a fix, I decided to test my skills and force my way through the area. Above the laser there’s a small, safe space, and by double jumping precisely into it three times, I managed to pass the room. Thankfully, the door at the end of the corridor wasn’t locked. I had to repeat the precise jumps when I returned. Additionally, I fell out of the map multiple times during my playthrough. Overall This is an 8-year-old game, still playable. I didn’t expect to spend almost 4 hours on it but I did, which speaks to its value. While I can’t recommend it due to the potential game breaking glitches, it’s still worth 1-2 hours of time. Video review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=877DDS5K9mw Not crazy about One Dog Story. Poor story, bad structure, and tons of glitches, some of which made me have to quit to menu to continue. Plus, the publisher has engaged in some shady stuff that I go into more detail about in my video. If you want more info in a different format, then here's another Steam review by a guy named Dravvad did his own deep dive. Dravvad's post: https://steamcommunity.com/id/Dravvad/recommended/588110/
One Dog Story is a mediocre Nintendo Switch ported 2D retro pixel platformer, one of literally thousands of pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all games everywhere. This one is a Furry friendly Metroidvania where you control a dog and wade through seas of fake reviews, because no pixelcrap is worth $12 USD. Of course, the game is much much cheaper in roubles... I'm sure that has nothing to do with making it accessible for the fake review services. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. Because this is designed for handheld/portable gaming appliances, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the low power handheld gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the mobile game developers. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for low power handhelds forces upon a game. While this might run well on a Steam Deck, we must remember the vast majority of gamers here are gaming on PC. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. One Dog Story didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for finding a weapon, trivial to get, but less than 33 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a modest spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product.
So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? One Dog Story has the almost unethical price of $12 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. For comparison, the $12 asking price for this game could get you games like "Rust", "Wolfenstein - The New Order" or "Project Zomboid". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.

🐾 One Dog Story é tipo o sonho canino virando jogo! 🦴🎮🌈
