UPDATE (September 2020): The developer account commented below acting like I'm lying about their fake user base. Well, how about some more examples? https://imgur.com/a/qmFytiO UPDATE (July 2020): I feel compelled to update this review, now 3 years later, after a couple of comments below. The developers (and friends or whoever) are continuing to try to scam people all of a sudden. You can see a user notified me below of a recent influx of cheap reviews from primarily Russian accounts. If you feel like digging in the comments, you can see I commented about non-English sites being used by the developers back in 2017. I never stated, but it was Russian, so the developers and most people around them at least speak the language. Here we are 3 years later, and all of a sudden the developers posted a couple of "updates" claiming they've fixed lots of things. Suddenly you get a few comments to those updates, primarily from Russian-speaking users (same as the developers), and now we have an increase in positive reviews for the game. Most reviews are one or two lines, relatively useless commentary, and most importantly, fake. You can dig around yourself but I snipped a few screenshots here: https://imgur.com/a/GG136UB We have users like "tradeit . . . tradeskins" (truncated to avoid their URLs) posting a review with 5 hours playtime yet they never got an achievement and they talk about the game's multiple endings. There's also users like "rolton <3 cs.money" being similar. Those already sound like pretty bad accounts in the first place by name alone. Also, one user "legeng #24" similarly has a positive review with no achievements. Yet they have 240+ hours of gameplay spread across 60+ video games in the past 2 weeks on their profile. That doesn't sound valid at all. I'm not saying every review is one, but it seems like a good chunk of "staged" reviews to boost the developers out of the blue. UPDATE: This game is officially abandonware with many game-breaking bugs. Do not buy. ORIGINAL: See: http://steamcommunity.com/app/588110/discussions/0/2132869574269679704/ The developers released the game and disappeared after 1 month. It's been 3 months now with no response, no fixing of bugs, especially some of which that are game-breaking. I cannot recommend it if the developers released the game and then threw it aside so quickly.
To not bury the lede, I'll start with why I do not recommend this game:

There are bugs which may occur which keep you from completing the game.
There are bugs which will keep you from getting all achievements.
The devs have been silent for over a year (check the discussion forum).
With that out of the way, this game does otherwise have some redeeming qualities. The gameplay is pretty fun: the story is interesting enough to keep your attention, at the very least; the pixel art is well done; and, look, it's just plain cute. I got through 9 hours before the bugs caught up to me and I couldn't progress anymore. I got it on sale (with the bundle) for $1.48. At that value, you may be fine with the bugs.
One Dog Story
One Dog Story is a wonderful 2d platformer game, with a story to tell as you play through the levels. I have been playing the game using my Xbox controller with no issues what so ever, everything seems to work very well. The game is not difficult to play, with plenty save, health & weapon upgrade zones, that you will find as you move through the levels, they do cost a small amount of mutagen, which you will pick up along with bones & ammo as you fight of enemys. I feel this game is 1 of the easiest platformer game's I have played so far, & I have even managed to kill 3 bosses already, thats after a few attempts with each 1, since I did not know what to expect. Now Im up to a lava moving screen, which has up'ed the challenge a bit more, but with persistance I will make it through Im sure. All I will say is I have been really enjoying my time with this game so far, & this is 1 platformer game I do hope I can finish, since a lot these type games do become quite difficult as you progress through them, & thats when I stop playing them as they get to hard & frustrating to complete. But so far this game has been on the easier side for me, so I hope I can finish it in due time. Price wise? Im not disapointed about my purchase, but perhaps waiting for a better deal would be a better plan ;) Game does not disappoint ;)
Basically, the game's all about all sorts of bosses and monsters, a bunch of weapons, lots of battles, and a funny lil dog with his story. What I liked - the monsters are kind of funny - weapons upgrades, heaps of it - hp restore you have to pay for - the bosses - the dog is sort of cute - secrets and collectables - oh yeah, there's this huge plant that can swallow you (so watch out there) - various locations to explore So yeah, if you're thinking of how to spend like the next couple of days, have some fun, this is the right stuff.
Not a bad toy from a Russian indie studio. A typical platformer, however, an rpg system was woven here in an interesting way. A grafon in 8-bit style, the most nostalgic for the times when after school you played the whole evening in dandy with its cassettes a la "1001 games". I personally didn't like the music, but you can check it out yourself in the trailer. The plot is on the level, it's even surprising that this toy is so unpopular. The combat is absolutely common, like all similar platformers. In general, it will do for your money. Especially if you take it at a discount.
There's a really good platformer somewhere in One Dog Story, but I couldn't find it. Lots of promise, but woefully underdeveloped in almost every facet - map and level design, weapon upgrade curve, character and story progression.
This game is amazing! The levels are colorful, the storyline is intriguing, and the characters are well developed in every way possible! The bosses are tough and amazing, the levels are also creative, with new enemies sprouting up left and right! This game is overall a must have for any Indie game lover!
Good game, non-linear plot, weapon pumping. I especially liked the very difficult bosses. Eight beat music complements the atmosphere. I don’t regret that I bought it. The main character is super, I love dogs! And so playing "One Dog Story" got a lot of pleasure
This game is deceiving at first, solid gameplay and pretty cool pixel art graphics, but don't be deceived by it's package, the game hard-locked me very close to the end of the game and a lot of other people are reporting game breaking bugs and achievements not popping up, hard pass this even if it's really cheap on sale, the devs abandoned development and have no plans to fix this game ever.
Ran into a dead-end after 15 minutes of gameplay, because I couldn't retreat through the very same door I entered the room before. I haven't explored all doors I went across before, so maybe I've missed some item or upgrade to progress further. Unfortunately there was a checkpoint in the room too, so I was stuck and I couldn't even hop back to an earlier save ... And that's it. Just imagine this happening deeper into the game! In 2022 I don't want to have that to happen in the games I play. NO WAY!!! It's a sad thing, because this game seems to be abandoned by the devs and according to the discussion forums they tend to do so with all the games they released over the years. The game does look pretty, I'll give it that, but sounds and music are nothing special and the fighting mechanics are a chore. I do like Metroidvania games and I do like them retro style. But having dead-ends implemented forcing me to restart the whole game just because of bugs or lack in development is not my cup of tea and never has been either.
