its a great game i like it
Written by my 8 year old daughter: I love this game. It's not my favourite, but it is probably my 3rd favourite video game. I like how you can change it to On A Roll 2D. It is my favourite platform game. I give it this game a BIG THUMBS UP!
Sort of a generic and cheaply-made but otherwise good 2d platformer. Not much to say about it, but I enjoyed it.
good
It's a good game to kill some time, although the sound effects are a bit annoying in my opinion :v
On A Roll 3D is a physics-based platforming game developed and published by Battenberg Software that builds its entire experience around guiding a rolling ball through a series of increasingly challenging obstacle-filled environments. While the premise may seem simple, the game gradually expands its mechanics through creative level design, environmental hazards, puzzles, and boss encounters, creating a surprisingly engaging adventure that rewards precision, patience, and careful control. The game's foundation is built on momentum-driven movement. Players control a ball that must navigate suspended platforms, dangerous traps, moving mechanisms, and intricate pathways while avoiding falls and other hazards. The controls are easy to understand, making the game accessible from the very beginning, but true mastery requires learning how momentum, speed, and terrain interact. Small adjustments often determine success or failure, and the constant need for careful movement keeps players focused throughout the experience. One of the game's most appealing qualities is its progression structure. Levels are organized into multiple themed worlds that gradually introduce new mechanics and obstacles. Early stages allow players to become familiar with the controls and physics system, while later environments demand increasingly precise navigation and problem-solving skills. This steady escalation helps maintain interest and gives players a clear sense of growth as they overcome more difficult challenges. Level design serves as one of the strongest aspects of the experience. Rather than repeatedly presenting similar obstacle courses, the game continually introduces new hazards and environmental mechanics. Players encounter spikes, moving platforms, rotating traps, lasers, explosive dangers, collapsing surfaces, and numerous other obstacles that require different strategies to overcome. Because new ideas are introduced regularly, the gameplay rarely becomes repetitive and consistently encourages adaptation. The puzzle elements provide welcome variety alongside the platforming challenges. Many sections require players to interact with switches, activate mechanisms, move objects, or manipulate the environment in order to progress. These puzzles are generally straightforward enough to avoid frustration while still requiring observation and logical thinking. Their inclusion helps break up the more action-focused segments and adds another layer of engagement to the overall experience. Exploration is also rewarded. Levels often contain hidden paths, optional collectibles, and secret areas that encourage players to look beyond the most obvious route. This extra content provides incentives for thorough exploration and gives completionists additional goals beyond simply reaching the finish line. Discovering hidden sections can be particularly satisfying because they often require skillful navigation or creative thinking to access. A notable strength of On A Roll 3D is its use of three-dimensional space. The levels take full advantage of verticality and multiple pathways, creating environments that feel more complex than traditional platforming stages. Players frequently move between elevated platforms, descend into lower sections, and navigate around large structures. This approach adds depth to the gameplay and helps the world feel larger and more dynamic. Enemy encounters further diversify the experience. Various hostile creatures and obstacles attempt to disrupt the player's progress, forcing quick reactions and careful planning. While combat is not the primary focus, these threats help maintain tension and prevent levels from feeling purely mechanical. Their presence adds an extra layer of challenge that complements the platforming mechanics effectively. Boss battles represent some of the most memorable moments in the game. Each major encounter introduces unique mechanics that test the skills learned throughout the preceding levels. These battles provide satisfying milestones and help create a stronger sense of progression. Defeating a boss often feels like a genuine accomplishment because it requires both familiarity with the controls and an understanding of the game's various mechanics. Visually, On A Roll 3D embraces a bright and colorful aesthetic that suits its arcade-style gameplay. The environments are vibrant and easy to read, ensuring that hazards and objectives remain clearly visible. While the graphics are relatively modest compared to modern platformers, the presentation remains charming and functional. Each themed world introduces different visual elements that help maintain variety and give the adventure a distinct sense of progression. The game's audio design complements the action effectively. Energetic music accompanies the platforming challenges, while sound effects provide useful feedback during movement, collisions, and environmental interactions. The soundtrack helps maintain momentum during gameplay and contributes to the lighthearted atmosphere that defines much of the experience. Like many precision-based platformers, On A Roll 3D can occasionally become frustrating. Certain later stages demand careful execution and repeated practice, which may discourage players who prefer a more relaxed experience. Some camera angles can also make specific sections more challenging than intended. However, these difficulties are generally balanced by the satisfaction that comes from mastering complex courses and successfully overcoming demanding obstacles. What ultimately makes On A Roll 3D enjoyable is its commitment to expanding a simple concept through creative design. Every world introduces new hazards, mechanics, and challenges that keep the gameplay fresh. The combination of physics-driven movement, platforming, puzzles, exploration, and boss encounters creates a surprisingly complete package that offers much more depth than its straightforward premise initially suggests. For players who enjoy skill-based platformers and physics-focused challenges, On A Roll 3D provides an entertaining and rewarding experience. Its diverse levels, imaginative obstacles, satisfying progression system, and emphasis on precision create an adventure that remains engaging throughout its campaign. While it may not be the most visually advanced platformer available, its strong gameplay foundation and creative level design make it a worthwhile experience for fans of the genre. Rating: 7/10
This is a simple platforming game, but it is platforming done right! The controls are tight, the game is extremely well designed, and errors are usually to blame on the player. With that being said, this game is easy to complete, but often atrocious to perfect. Getting the extra points for a perfect run-through of each course is very challenging, especially in the DLC that offers worlds 7-9. However, this game is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it to all of the platform lovers out there.
