Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.29/day in the week to Aug 22 → 3/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Poland over the last 30 days: the 21 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 12 places towards #1, and the 2,501 moves with no price cut behind them went 1 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Old World is a historical strategy game where you lead your empire through multiple generations, building a grand legacy to last beyond your own years. This is an era of great leaders, from the revered to the feared. Which will you be?

Marry for politics, raise your heirs, and manage your relationship with the families of your kingdom. In the fast and furious world of kings and queens, family matters.
Each of the 7 kingdoms has four noble families that provide various benefits when put in charge of your cities.
Manage family ties through events, actions, and marriages to keep them happy and reap additional benefits. Upset them, or make them too powerful, and you risk their ire.
Maintain a strong family unit, or distract yourself with more illicit adventures.

The world is full of great characters with distinct personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. Use them to forge your kingdom, defend your borders, and build ties with other leaders.
Seek out and recruit famed warriors, philosophers, builders, and more. Have them tutor your children, lead your armies, and further your reign.
Different personality archetypes allow your court members to perform different tasks in similar roles. Find the right combinations to take full advantage of governors, diplomats, spymasters, and even your spouse.
Characters develop new personalities and traits over time, growing old, gaining experience, and finally falling ill and passing away, leaving room for the next generation.

Unsettled tribes, barbarian marauders, and remnants of previous cultures are all waiting in the vast unexplored wilderness.
Discover artifacts and great heroes of the past at ruins scattered across the map.
Experience over 3,000 unique events inspired by history and mythology.
Contact with foreign dignitaries triggers event chains, stories, and courtroom drama.
Pursue ambitions and legacies related to conquest, development, faith, and more.
Historically inspired scenarios, weekly challenge games, and a choice between randomly generated and handcrafted maps to explore. Lead Carthage to victory as Hannibal in the Punic Wars, hold your own against Barbarian Hordes, or compete against other players in tackling fictional scenarios.

Why do things the way they've always been done? Old World brings a new take to key elements of the 4X strategy genre:
Go beyond the traditional resources. Buildings are made of wood and stone, not "industry." Population doesn't grow off "food" alone.
Orders are a resource shared across your realm. Instead of moving every unit once per turn, each unit can be moved multiple times until fatigued or Orders are depleted.
Technological advancement is not predetermined. Randomization helps keep technology trees feeling fresh with each new playthrough.
Quality of life improvements, such as the ability to undo mistaken commands and nested tooltips, ensure you're always making informed decisions.
Play with friends in countless multiplayer modes — from hotseat, to asynchronous, to cloud play.
Experience a Grammy-nominated soundtrack blending Arabic music with contemporary influences.
Mods further open up infinite options for new worlds, empires, and dynasties — inspired by our real world, and by works of fiction as well.

There’s a lot to like about this game, but the learning curve really shoots it in the foot. Even on the third-easiest difficulty, and with the help of several YouTube guides, I’m still getting outscaled by the AI. It’s nearly impossible to keep pace, and unless you have a significant advantage, you don’t stand much of a chance. Even wars against much smaller nations are extremely costly, and if you fall behind early it’s basically game over. There might be something fundamentally wrong with how the fog of war functions in this game. In practice, it often leads to situations where you’re forced to reload turns or react to things you couldn’t reasonably anticipate. It doesn’t feel like meaningful strategy as much as trial and error. The lower-difficulty AI probably needs some rethinking. As it stands, this isn’t a great introduction for new players—either to the game itself or to the genre. If the game had better balance, a stronger introduction, clearer communication of power balance, and a tighter overall game loop (since it can become a bit of a slog), it would probably be worth full price. Right now, I’d recommend waiting for a sale. There’s a good chance you’ll need to invest a lot of time just to get comfortable with the mechanics, and I’m still not sure how deep the game’s long-term depth really is.

I became detatched from CIV since CIV 6, and OLD WORLD was presented as an alternative. Steepish learning curve for somebody used to CIV games, but it was worth the reward. The sheer number and weight of random events / Decision points to craft a dynastic narrative add a layer I didn't really realize CIV needed. ROME II had it a little too , with grooming heirs and gaining attributes, but the consequences seem more pronounced here. The benefit to the game is a little like the opening interest of finding abandoned ruins in CIV, but whereas in CIV they cease to happen and the thrill of early game scramble dies off, those random and consequential 'historical' events keep coming. You have choices to make usually, which makes those events more dynamic and 'choose-your-own-adventure-like'. The game doesn't make Idle Threats: My leader's sister fell in love with an idiot baffoon, I didn't allow her to marry, which I knew would upset her, but I was saving her for a political marriage with a neighboring tribe. WELL, she tried to assassinate me (Your living ruler), and although she failed, a coup with rebel armies sprung up. Most people talk about the orders and movement points- it IS interesting, but I don't think its nearly as impactful as the dynastic factors, OR the resource system. In a way it feels a little like an RTS in that you need to get enough wood, stone, iron, etc, to make xyz improvement or unit. ALL IN ALL, it is a successful alternative to CIv, a different, and more focused Civ, without the fluffy stuff for tourist players and dumbed down modern audiences. As I learn how to play (Im not fully competent yet), I find myself less likely to go back to CIV, which starts to look simplistic by comparison. Note Bene: The 'complexity' isn't about a million widgets - I have to mention that because in the first 30 min, thats what it felt like, because it does bombard with lots of game elements and modifyers- I don't think most of those really matter all that much unless you want them to. The *Critical* complexity over CIV is in a slightly deeper resource management way, and a Game-Of-Thrones surprise element which seems to upend whatever you thought was going to happen.
good game
Это то что должно было быть после пятой цивы, а не тот мусор что наклепали за это время, отличная игра
Civilization for the middle ages
Awesome game. Easy to get into once you finished the tutorial missions. Great mix between CIV and Crusader Kings.
Schrift ist z.T. viel zu klein auf einem 2560 × 1080 Monitor. Man kann zwar einige Größen einstellen, aber die extrem kleinen nicht. Das ist nix.
I really like how realistic everything is and all the simple but complicated mechanics
I've only played the base game with no DLCs, but this alone was clearly one of the more fun "Civ" like plays I ever had. Clear recommendation.
