For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.

About

Old World is a historical strategy game where you lead your empire through multiple generations, building a grand legacy to last beyond your own years. This is an era of great leaders, from the revered to the feared. Which will you be?

Marry for politics, raise your heirs, and manage your relationship with the families of your kingdom. In the fast and furious world of kings and queens, family matters.
Each of the 7 kingdoms has four noble families that provide various benefits when put in charge of your cities.
Manage family ties through events, actions, and marriages to keep them happy and reap additional benefits. Upset them, or make them too powerful, and you risk their ire.
Maintain a strong family unit, or distract yourself with more illicit adventures.

The world is full of great characters with distinct personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. Use them to forge your kingdom, defend your borders, and build ties with other leaders.
Seek out and recruit famed warriors, philosophers, builders, and more. Have them tutor your children, lead your armies, and further your reign.
Different personality archetypes allow your court members to perform different tasks in similar roles. Find the right combinations to take full advantage of governors, diplomats, spymasters, and even your spouse.
Characters develop new personalities and traits over time, growing old, gaining experience, and finally falling ill and passing away, leaving room for the next generation.

Unsettled tribes, barbarian marauders, and remnants of previous cultures are all waiting in the vast unexplored wilderness.
Discover artifacts and great heroes of the past at ruins scattered across the map.
Experience over 3,000 unique events inspired by history and mythology.
Contact with foreign dignitaries triggers event chains, stories, and courtroom drama.
Pursue ambitions and legacies related to conquest, development, faith, and more.
Historically inspired scenarios, weekly challenge games, and a choice between randomly generated and handcrafted maps to explore. Lead Carthage to victory as Hannibal in the Punic Wars, hold your own against Barbarian Hordes, or compete against other players in tackling fictional scenarios.

Why do things the way they've always been done? Old World brings a new take to key elements of the 4X strategy genre:
Go beyond the traditional resources. Buildings are made of wood and stone, not "industry." Population doesn't grow off "food" alone.
Orders are a resource shared across your realm. Instead of moving every unit once per turn, each unit can be moved multiple times until fatigued or Orders are depleted.
Technological advancement is not predetermined. Randomization helps keep technology trees feeling fresh with each new playthrough.
Quality of life improvements, such as the ability to undo mistaken commands and nested tooltips, ensure you're always making informed decisions.
Play with friends in countless multiplayer modes — from hotseat, to asynchronous, to cloud play.
Experience a Grammy-nominated soundtrack blending Arabic music with contemporary influences.
Mods further open up infinite options for new worlds, empires, and dynasties — inspired by our real world, and by works of fiction as well.

Like many others, I tried Old World after Civ 7 turned out to be a huge disappointment, and I couldn't be happier. Old World is obviously a labour of love, built with meticulous detail and providing the kind of addictive gameplay I used to enjoy with Civ 2 through 6. I was still playing Civ 5 and 6 regularly until I bought Old World, but I haven't gone back to them at all since. Old World is beautiful to look at, has depth, demands a strategic focus and, crucially, has that one-more-turn energy. I bought the bundle on sale and have zero regrets.
Polecam! Enjoyed the game overall but being so CPU heavy makes it lag horribly mid/late-game. Really takes the fun out of it.
Civilization s game of thrones prvkami .Ai super je celkom chalange. Odporučam 9/10
Great game! It's a refreshing combination of Civilization and Crusader Kings, set in antiquity, which I love. The game has complex rules that raise the skill ceiling and can be discovered during game play, at least on lower difficulties. I won my first ever game of Oldworld decisively on The Strong difficulty, even though I did not play optimally. That said, bad luck with the starting location would have led to a completely different game, so Oldworld can be quite random and the balancing and pacing could be improved. Overall I really enjoyed this first game.
A preliminary review from about 30 hours of play. On low difficulty settings, I rolled what I felt was a decent map and replayed it several times to learn the game a bit. These are my opinions so far. One of the few positives that I can see is that the MP that was broken with Civ5 has been restored and so for that niche segment of players it will be a great positive. Many of us broke with the Civ series, whether at 4 or 5, over a sense of dissatisfaction with the direction of the franchise on a couple of fronts. The faithful devout claim that this title is the spiritual successor to peak Civ, but for me the new boss is same as the old boss. Civ progressively got woke especially with 6, yet there is plenty of this nonsense to be found here, from many stronk women generals commanding troops in the field to the usual "inclusionary" practices of pumping up "Civs" that were generally irrelevant to history. I could elaborate further, but if you play the game at all, or visit it's forums or the other usual sites, you will get an idea of the type people who made the game and whom it was made for. And of course it is all done in an inconsistent and ad hoc fashion, completely amoral and meaningless. For example, the game will tell you a character is Bisexual, for absolutely no reason relevant to gameplay. Historical to be sure, but so is Pederasty, considering the setting; but they don't mention that one. On the other hand they will label characters (usually women in my brief experience) as Debauched, which carries with it a negative stat malus. Suddenly they do an about face and promote "traditional" mores? On what basis is this judgement arrived at? Temple prostitution was a widespread practice at the time and setting of this game. Almost half of the character development screens I got was a picture of an orgy. Multiple different ones! I don't have a problem seeing ashes and tiddies, even poorly drawn ones; but there seems to be a real obsession with sexuality which again should clue you in on some of the developer mindsets. With regards to the forums, I don't know what sort of arrangement there is with the publisher; but there seems to be a different form of moderation on these forums vice others in the community here. Threads which violate no Steam ToS and are relevant to gameplay are moved from the "gameplay" section in to "general" discussion which is a barren and unvisited wasteland. This serves to isolate this type of content from the main forum and ensure that it stays a fertile ground for a handful of promoters and propagandists. A heads up that these types of practices are in use. Gameplay here is championed as some of the best and most complex in any of the so called 4x games. You can reference my screenshot below, for the following commentary. Playing felt just like the older games where the computer has to "cheat" to make challenge for you and provides a mere illusion of a deep and intelligent opponent. At turn 40, while not making very much development in the cities due to lack of experience and knowledge, I had managed to clear a lot of barbs/tribes out and found a large amount of cities (8). I was at parity with one AI and running ahead of 2 in both tech and military. It felt like I was being successful, at least at the expansionary aspect of the early game. Suddenly I was forward settled, in classic Civ fashion by one AI, with a second on the other flank in the process of doing the same. Long term players of Civ will be intimately familiar with the AI failing to develop it's own area, but then leapfrogging over hundreds of miles of empty terrain to settle your border to hamper your progress and often in conjunction with aggressive moves from other Computer players. The next turn, I was hit with an earthquake, which severely damaged my capital land and the entire surrounding ring of cities. Yet the forward settled AI city, which was just to the west of my capital, was untouched. Deep and complex indeed! Mechanics like "calamaties" are cool, but I sort of have to wonder, why now? Why at this point when I am just beginning to make something happen in pulling ahead of the AI? Why no one else damaged by this earthquake? Just the entire core of my Empire. And you start to think that the game is cheating for the AI, like old and poorly made games always have. And you start to notice it in other aspects of "random" events and outcomes. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3696800753 Something else you can see on the minimap in my screenshot, and what really gets my goat when I see fanboys attack critical commentary, is the placement of the computer/AI civilizations. I was at center map, and the other 4 civs in the game were at the exact corners of the map, save for the southwest which was shunted to the north a bit, probably because there was water at the extremis. Inexcusable. Indefensible. Unacceptable These are words that come to mind when considering this situation with the spawn locations. An absolute joke and contrived nonsense. I remember how Civ would sometimes squeeze you on spawn and put the AI in close proximity and all around you while leaving them more open areas, but nonetheless it at least felt organic. This is completely ridiculous and makes this title unworthy to be ranked even at parity with it's competition. Navigating the tech tree is an absolute disaster. They did away with the Civ paradigm of meta pathing through the tech tree but instead of making thoughtful changes to the techs or the methodology to prevent this; they made it into another RNG that often seems to be used to kneecap you. So the techs you have available to research, they are shuffled into a deck, and you are offered a few of them as choices, but you don't have the option to research every tech you qualify for. There are little interesting choices added where you can research for free goodies while deferring a tech, but overall it is a poor system. I feel much of what is passed off as complex and deep gameplay is just the illusion of such. The early game seems little different than it did in Civ5, with extremely slow growth and little to do. The RNG rules everything and your choices are of little import, especially when the game decides you need to be challenged. They have certainly gotten away from the classic Civ weakness, where the human player could abuse the system in a number of ways to almost break the game, but they seem to have gone to the other extreme. Have you read someone raving about this game? Consider this tidbit. A large number of the people who purchased this game have never even played it. My Achievement of playing a "Single Player" game is shared by 65% of the community! Amazing! Shouldn't that be in the mid 90's at the very least? Curious indeed.
