OddFauna : Secret of the Terrabeast

OddFauna is a relaxing sandbox where you grow a little world on the back of a giant creature. The standout is the art: every plant, animal, and tool is sculpted in clay and painted by hand, and it gives the whole game a warm, distinctive look. The music fits it perfectly. I've spent a few hours just exploring, foraging, and befriending creatures. There's no real pressure, so it stays calm and fun the whole way through. It's Early Access from a two-person team, so there's more to come, and the roadmap of new creatures and biomes looks promising. I'm looking forward to seeing how it grows. Definitely worth picking up if you want something peaceful and made with obvious care.

I feel the game is to bare bones for the early access price not much to do and no map had a hard time getting back to the base before fainting at this time I don't think this game is worth EA price

So... 7 hours in, Oddfauna looks like exactly what you see: a cozy sandbox building and gathering and making-friends game. If you like those, definitely give it a chance, it's managed to delight me enough to forget I was in moderate to severe pain (for 7 hours so far!) What it brings to the genre is loving art, adorable animation, and the kind of delightful weirdness & bits of mystery and surprise that I don't think any big studio could ever match. This is the unmuddied artistic vision of a tiny dev team. We need to give them grace for being the kind of tiny dev team that could make this game. And it does need some grace! It's (very!) early access. The interface can be janky. I can't get built things to move or go away, possibly because it can't figure out the middle button on my laptop trackpad. There's a display bug where running under my terrabeast makes me look like I'm running through an earthquake. But these are just growing pains, and fairly minor ones. Enough of the core loop is beautifully polished to make me confident the final game is gonna be entirely amazing. They just need players in order to make it less janky and more player-friendly, and that's what early access is for. (If the last part sounds defensive it's because I'm annoyed at the one negative review I saw, which boils down to yep, it's an early access game being an early access game. I want this one to succeed! I want to see the final version! It'll be so so cool! I don't want it review bombed for being exactly what's promised.)

Overall, have been enjoying this game! It's super cute and whimsical-- the Fauna creatures are absolutely adorable and all have unique personalities. I hope in future updates, we can care and give more affection/interaction with them. The exploration has been fun and it has been a nice surprise to encounter new recipes and build items. I do wish there was a map in the game or an unstuck button in cases of glitches.

In the current iteration, this game is not good to play. Especially inventory management is absurd. No button to transfer all / split stack. While this is clearly denoted as an early access game, this is not a state it should have been released in at all. I will come back to it in some time to see whether things are more comfortable and the world is a bit more filled out.

I really like this game, I've always wanted to be a part of a new game from the start and helping it grow. I can't wait to see what it will be like in the future. :)

iT'S SO PRETTY I DIE! This is exactly the kind of cozy builder/adventure game I've been looking for. Hints of stardew, animal crossing, palworld, with so many cute creatures to befriend. This is still clearly early access as of me writing this, and I agree with several reviews about the need for content/quests/story/polish etc but there is so much potential here. The art style alone is so unique and worth investing in. Trying to discover, collect and befriend all the creatures and grow my terrabeast is motivation for me to keep playing. It shows that the devs put so much work into this already to have this level of project with a handful of cool mechanics that work (no game breaking bugs, yet!). I'm happy to wait and let the devs cook :)

Love it! Real art! No AI! Real passion! If you understand that you are buying an early access game from a company of 2 people then you wont regret purchasing and supporting <3 Just an edit to say i see reviews saying youre stuck in one place, this is not true, you upgrade you base then are able to travel to different locations and bioms, a lot needs to be discovered on your own

Such a fun cozy game! I absolutely love the character design. Relaxing but engaging play!

Love this game! The style is amazingly original for a video game, and is a must for any fans of Where the Wild Things Are and Howl's Moving Castle!!
