About
Defend, loot, level up and descend into the deep! These are the basic principles of Octogun. You were just about to enjoy some snacks in the middle of the ocean as these mean intruders enter your domain and try to take away what is yours. So get on the defense, take back what they stole and become stronger and stronger. This is YOUR place to be!
Defend yourself from the hordes of enemies by equipping up to 8 weapons simultaneously of a selection of more than 40 weapons. Choose the powerful sniper, overwhelm the masses with the devastating minigun or set them ablaze using the flamethrower, there is a choice and combination for everyone.
Try out different weapons every time to find the playstyle that matches you the best!
Defeating enemies drops the most precious of all! Goldfish! Collect them and buy new weapons from the store. Stronger weapons mean that even more goldfish are yours to be taken. Earn more, fight more and earn even more. Who is going to stop you now?
After surviving a certain amount of enemies you will have proven yourself to challenge even stronger enemies. By leveling up you will face off against even tougher enemies, but the rewards will be worth it.
Stronger weapons will appear in the shop and more money will be earned! But do not worry old weapons still have a purpose. Merge 2 identical weapons to upgrade them to the next level. The sky is the limit!
You are fighting and fighting but cannot keep up? Do not worry! Descension will bring you back to the start momentarily, but you will come back even stronger! Get access to more permanent upgrades to your stats, modify your build with the skill tree of the deep as well as a massive boost to your money earned.

Tap into the power of the deep and become unstoppable.

The game will launch with more than 20 unique hats to unlock. After completing a small feat to unlock the hat, you will be able to select any unlocked hat before passing on beyond level 5 to elevate your power to the next level.
Each hat comes with its own unique benefit for your current ascension run allowing you to specialize your loadout for any occasion.
And did i forget to mention the style? You can be an adventurer, a cook or a wizard. Or feel free to live out your cutie dreams with some cat ears while chat asks for kissies. The choice is yours!

Idle & Incremental Lovers recommends Octogun, with caveats: Eight "arms" Broctopus brings six "arms" Brotato vibes into the idler genre. Casual take, lots of weapons, numbers go up and clean UI. Pacing is way too slow to be enjoyable in the long run, though. + Like said in this short review, the game has a lot of qualities and potential. + It's fun to experiment with the different weapons in the first hour of play. + Hats for the collectors out there (and some synergies too). + My first gripe with Octogun was that a lot of things were unexplained and that I was missing crucial information to understand how the game works (it took me 30 minutes to fully get it). Props to the dev for quickly tackling this point with a patch introducing various tutorial informations into the game! +/- While technically it's possible to create "builds" and merge weapons, you quickly realize that you can brainlessly progress just by scaling your stats and weapons. I went this easy way, but i admit some people may have fun tinkering with specific builds. - Some informations are still missing despite the latest patch, but what really bothered me was not knowing how much new skill points I was going to get after prestiging. If you want to create a specific build (or simply finish the skill tree like i absolutely wanted to do) and ultimately fall short because of that, it's pretty frustrating. - With no enemy variety, it quickly becomes repetitive. - After prestige, you have to start at wave 1 again, and you don't clear the waves quicker (or very marginally). It would (maybe) still be OK if there was an auto-advance to the next wave (I went to wave 316 before clearing the skill tree, and given you can beat 15-20 waves with the latest weapons you buy, you just sit there, bored, watching your screen and clicking once in a while to go to the next wave... just to do the same thing over again after prestige). - No ending. I decided to call it a wrap when I cleared the skill tree after 25 hours, but I only really had fun the first 1-2 hours of the game. *What do you call two octopuses that look exactly the same? Very fun and addicting idle game. (Pls dont nerf sabers)
Not bad as a first release. Fun game so far! Maybe a little bit more depth (hehe)?
Was fun getting op af and getting all achievements, it's really well done gameplay loop gets to shine and I like that. Many quick quality of life updates were released very quickly before I could even mention them here. While becoming op is really fun, once you are, there arent really any major difficulty checks until the literal "difficulty level" going up until you dont make enough goldfish to buy the current lvl weapons. It would be cool to have some checks that cant be cheesed by just numbers at over difficulty level 99, but other than that this game is a fun little achievement hunt.
It's a fun little game.
This game is a simple but surprisingly satisfying idle arena shooter. The basic loop is easy to understand: defend yourself, collect goldfish, buy better weapons, merge upgrades, level up, and eventually descend to come back stronger. What I like most is how quickly the game turns from “small octopus defending snacks” into full-on bullet chaos. Being able to equip up to 8 weapons at once gives it a fun “what ridiculous build can I make this time?” feeling. Sniper, minigun, flamethrower, and a bunch of other weapons all push you toward experimenting instead of just buying the same thing every run. The progression is very much a numbers-go-up loop, so if you do not like idle games, this probably will not change your mind. But if you enjoy upgrading, merging, unlocking hats, and watching your build slowly become stupidly strong, it works well. It still feels like a small game and I would like to see more content and polish over time, but the core idea is fun. For my the nicest thing is: try to use the same weapon in all the tentacles, and unlock a hat that matches it. Like spears + medieval helmet. It gets better
It is by far the best Idle Game I have ever played.
This is a pretty good idle and merging game overall, though it lacks some explanation. There are a lot of hats to collect that reward you with stats, but it actually took me 20 hours just to figure out how to change them. Once I finally figured that out, I was able to finish all the hat requirements and get 100% achievements in no time since I already had a 387udc% bonus built up. One of the standout features is the detailed breakdown of overall damage for all your weapons. This tracker is very helpful for strategizing your build. It makes it so much easier to determine which weapons need to be swapped out and to figure out which armaments synergize best when placed next to each other. The experience is not without a few quirks, primarily a lack of explanation for certain mechanics. For instance, it took me around 20 hours just to figure out how to actually change hats. Additionally, there is a mysterious flashing crown that appears in the bottom left corner after descension. Clicking it does nothing, and it just vanishes after a few waves. A little more guidance or a tutorial would go a long way here. Finally, there is one technical issue worth calling out regarding how it idles in the background. The game will not run when minimized or if you switch to a different screen. Oddly enough, it will continue running if you specifically switch to the Steam client, but it pauses for any other window. Despite this and the UI confusion, it is still a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience.
I really like this one. a perfect mix of idle (making 'money') and actively choosing new weapons/upgrades. I think the idea with the hats is so cool? not only can u get different bonusses but I also love that the octopus actually wears the hat that you choose to go.. swim with. I like the balancing and the progression; it was a little different when the game was fresh in the store, but there were some patches making everything even better. Tbh, just buy it and have fun - its a nice having-it-running-in-the-background-and-sometimes-buying-new-weapons-game. : D
I love the Dragon Head. Easy to understand, nice to play, lots of tasks. Brilliant idea.
