It's a Brotato-like made by a guy who pumps out cheap games with tons of modes and unlockables. I like it slightly more than Boneraiser Minions, but it still feels less like a game I'm playing and more like a game I'm *watching.* The choices you make in shops are not as exciting, the UI is far too same-y and sterile, and it doesn't do anything new in the genre aside from hacking spots where you watch a percentage go up and hover in a circle. The biggest sin of all however is how generic all the enemies and characters look. Nothing stands out as particularly memorable, cool or interesting, despite the clear effort that went into the pixel art. This is all made by a great artist but it lacks a strong vision. Compare the creatures and bosses in this game to their previous work and you can see the difference immediately. Still, you can't really go wrong with such a low price. It's clear this game was made from a place of wanting to experiment, and I respect that. However, of all the awesome Caiysware games, this might be the least good, I'm sad to say. At least Spirits Abyss and Skelly Selest had personality. Voids Vigil works, but it's not a big winner. 6.5/10
Maybe it's just because Boneraiser Minions really clicked for me (by far my favorite "survivor-like," even more so than Vampire Survivors itself), but the fact that this title feels like it's consciously trying to be different from that one instead of evolving it just kind of rubs me the wrong way. Not a terrible game, and might appeal to those who wanted more of a challenge than Boneraiser offers, but the fact that Boneraiser has continued to get updates even after this came out gives me the impression that the dev themselves realizes that they kind of took a step or two back here. There is quite a lot of content (5 modes with multiple difficulty levels, like 30 characters, 200+ achievements, leaderboards) to be had here for $5 though so go ahead and check the game out for yourself since there's not much to lose.
A significant step down from the previous, similar title from the same developer, Boneraiser Minions. Classes are far more simplistic, there are no currencies to be gained or spent between runs, instead of a class skill tree you just get a couple of modifiers per class and no other changes.
Forget Noobs are Coming, THIS is the true Brotato spiritual successor, and it's absolutely criminal how underrated it is. Quick levels, bullet heaven, build diversity, lots of difficulty options, and an insane amount of characters and unlocks...it stuns me that this game hasn't seen a similar success to Boneraiser Minions. If you like Brotato, if you like Vampire Survivors, if you like Megabonk, chances are this game is up your alley. The art style DOES take a bit of getting used to, but it's so worth it, And at that price? Jeez. Impossible not to recommend.
A Survivors/Bullet Hell Roguelike that is visually dark, gritty, and alien. Sprite work is rough but adds to the charm. Diverse with game modes, difficulties options, unlockables, characters, and weapon builds. There is a lot to offer for such a well executed, little game. Well worth the price. Pick this one up when you can. Great on the Steam Deck.
I had bought Boneraiser Minions and really loved it. I was pleasantly surprised to see the developer has made several other games so I bought a majority of them. I started playing this game last night just to 'see what it's like' and now I can't put it down. This is such a fun game and a really unique take on the genre that feels very different from anything else and like all of his other games, it's priced very generously for the amount of content here. I'm 10 hours in at this point and there's still so much content and stuff I'm looking forward to seeing. Great game.
From the same dev as Boneraiser Minions, same DNA, completely different setting tho. Grimy sci-fi aesthetic, robotic hordes, auto-firing weapons orbiting your vessel Brotato-style. Comparing it directly to Boneraiser would be unfair and a bit beside the point. Where Boneraiser is about army composition, here you have more direct control over your damage output through your weapon loadout. The build crafting feels more hands-on and intentional as a result. Maybe it's not the deepest game in the genre, but it doesn't need to be. It's just genuinely good. A solid pick for any fan of the Vampire Survivors sub-genre.
Yes, the screen will eventually be covered in enemy bullets. But your character will have a shield, your weapons will have shields, your weapons will shoot shields, your drones will have shields and will be armed with weapons that shoot shields. Superb pixel art and chill bullet hell gameplay starring an eclectic cast of character classes. Great fun in 30-minute increments and many achievements to unlock.
I'd rather play Nova Drift. Also you didn't need to remove a lot of Boneraiser's QOL (like cogs not despawning, and cogs being pulled to you at the end of every sector)
