Invisible cake

A short overview Добрый день, сегодня предложу вам взглянуть на неказистую головоломку Stickman in the Portal, которая очень старалась повторить успех своего вдохновителя.

"Cubes, panels, buttons and many, many portals". BBB Games (well, quite a strange name for a developer) has released only this game so far, and it was about 5-6 months ago. It's made in Unity and should feature all the things mentioned above - we're also told that we'll have to "manage the stickman" through portals, cubes and panels in order to reach the elevator for the next level (no buttons mentioned here!). Yeah, there are so many typos in the short Steam store page.. I mean, at least double check that you have put the right spaces like: "Control movement - wsad or arrows(you can accelerate or slow down in the air) e to pick up the cube, left or right mouse button, to throw the cube." Should be like Controls, WASD, arrows ( with a space, "e to pick up" probably has a letter in there never checked.. ok ok.. I'm having some pain in my liver.. Do you want to know what's funny? Well, I've been searching for hours for "kidney" while I obviously have pain in my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ liver due to probably too many medicines these days for flu fever and whatever else.. and I was searching kidney thinking obviously English websites will be way better than the Italian ones.. and so.. kidney.. ok.. Come on, I know I'm funny.. even if my reviews are unique in a negative way.. xD Back on the game, you can choose from some graphical options but playing windowed is quite hard since the whole game is composed of 26 levels in a single screen - no side scrolling or whatever else, meaning that if you don't play fullscreen you won't see anything apart from two floors compressed one onto the other one. WASD keys are used to move, and the mouse buttons are used to shoot two different kinds of portals. Actually, the game has a weird short tutorial that doesn't explain that much what you're supposed to do - you're rather left alone with your portal-shooting rifle and little else. Thing is, that apart from the two portals there will often be a cube to pick up with the E key and throw it on the buttons to make them trigger something and let you go. You'll throw it with either mouse button. The game mechanics are really basic, quite childish in some way. For instance, if you pick up the cube (which means that it will just float next to you, no changes in the stickman's graphics) and let it mistakenly fall in a hole, it will instantly respawn besides you. The whole portal thing is just a matter of getting used to teleporting here and there, like a Flash game.. you can't die, since you can just fall down and instantly re-appear. The game actually adds some elements of difficulty, like more buttons to hold or more portals, some panels and so on.. but nothing gets really difficult. Maybe it's from a perspective of someone who has played games like these since the '90s, but it seems all a recycle of levels and mechanics already seen multiple times. This would have a 5/10 vote for me. If someone is new to the mechanics, the game is quite challenging - but the other thing we have to consider is that, if someone's new to these puzzle games.. well, he should definitely not start with this one.. The game has literally lots of bugs and graphical issues, from the instant respawn to the boxes picked up and that will travel through the walls and so on.. it's all too minimalistic, although in some way the puzzles work.. apart from the fact that for instance if you accidentally step on a block it will go metres away and you'll have to pick gently it up again and so on.. It's somehow a nice attempt to an indie puzzle game using mechanics which are the contrary of "new" under every aspect.. while I like the constant use of good puzzle/logic mechanisms, this game is far too short, minimalistic and badly designed for me to be recommended, although it costs less than 1€/$. It's just.. I don't know. There are levels that feature blocks and entire parts that aren't required - you simply can make two portals and for some unknown reasons high jump towards the exit.. or levels in which you'll transport your block besides you and you can leave it floating and go through the portal.. It should have been worked way more, and graphics should have a role too. I love indie, arcade, retro games, I really love them, but not stickmen and MS Paint gray blocks.. If you really love these kinds of puzzle/portal games, this might be something that you can enjoy for some hours although it's really badly rendered, both graphically and for what concerns mechanics, portal creating, blocks and whatever else.. for everyone else though I'd definitely not recommend it, it's not -that- bad as I said, the 26 levels apart from some of them which can be beaten in 30 seconds are real levels and not asset flips or fake random things, but the whole game looks old, copied and totally boring. It's just for the real fans of these games that want a small, indie, basic addition to their collection..
Before you even start playing, you wonder: How did they not get sued? Where’s Valve? Are they asleep? Looking the other way? The game doesn’t try to hide its inspiration: portals, puzzles, buttons, boxes, momentum. It’s all there, simplified and condensed. The big difference? There’s no ironic narration, no GLaDOS to insult you with, no pristine, minimalist lab. Just a stickman, a couple of portals, and bad physics.
Stickmen into Glados
Quite simple implementation of the Portal games. Just 2D but puzzles are still challenging. I think the hardest is the transformation from a sideways movement into a vertical fall position. Manipulate laser beams or boxes as you are used in Portal. Left mouse purple, right mouse green portal.

F*ck level L bruh
yes 8/10
A cleverly disguised metaphor for french colonialism in the 18th century in africa, 'stickman in the portal' attempts to show us, the viewer, such art and truths that no one else in this town has the balls to do. 4/10 lied about the moving walls
