About
Nuclear Option is a combat flight game set on a dynamic and realistic battlefield of the near future. Use an array of advanced weapons to change the course of battles as you intercept bombers, duel fighters, fly under the radar, or unleash the fury of nuclear weapons on enemy formations.
Each aircraft comes with an immersive cockpit featuring a situational awareness HUD, identifying nearby targets and threats. Aircraft can be flown with various controllers or with a mouse-controlled "virtual joystick", requiring no special hardware.
Experience realistic flight dynamics, with stalls, spins and g-force effects fully implemented, as each aircraft is composed of up to 50 individually simulated physics parts . A highly detailed damage model means that the condition of each part affects the way your aircraft flies.
Build your own missions using the included mission editor, and then fly your mission solo or with friends in PVP or PVE multiplayer combat.

Perfect blend of realism and straight forward arcade action. Flight physics are realistic but don't limit you like DCS world, guns and ammo are proportionate to how actual jets and vtols carry. If you have any interest in dogfighting games or flight sims, this is a great pick.

Just enough sim to satisfy! Not over the top with controls and systems to learn but enough to be fun and very intuitive. I picture future gen planes being more of this style of UI and less flipping endless toggles and fiddling with menus and that's what this delivers. Best of all I'm a mostly VR player and the one click VR mod for this game is fantastic. Price point is shockingly low for what you're getting here, (They are giving this game away at $20) because you'll get virtually endless replayability with the mission editor and then workshop mods. Well done especially for early Access!
autism time
I really enjoy this game because my brain is too dumb for DCS, but I don't want arcade level either. It makes controls make the game very easy to get into and do the basics, but while still giving you room to grow and learn. Being able to download community made missions is really cool and fun, and keeps the game feeling fresh. Some of the liveries are really cool too. I'd defs recommend this game if you're looking for a good flight sim that isn't over-the-top sim, and fun to play (especially with friends).
Think of Ace Combat but with much more depth and more realistic system yet still simple enough that anyone who has experience with flight simulator can go from the aircraft taxing on the ground -> airborne -> emptying entire missile payload that wipes out entire armored column within seconds, all within 5 minutes and then returning to base to rearm and refuel to do it again. And with plethora of aircraft to choose for almost every role you can think of, you want to be a faux A-10 strafing ground targets into pieces to reenact highway of death? can do. You want to play stealthily with proper stealth fighters armed to hunt other aircraft from outside their radar range like Predator stalking their prey? can do. You want to play gung ho with agile fighter for close in gun duel and IR missiles? can do. You want to be faux AC-130 gunship and rain death from above to the unfortunate targets on the ground with artillery shells? can do. Whether you can survive them or not however is a different story. The game is much simplified compared to full fledged combat flight simulator, but it has plenty of depth still including how to deal with radar, radar guided weapons (which can kill you in a single hit from dozens of km away),IR missiles, optical missiles, or the good old fashioned guns and underestimating your opponent can get you killed in an instant as the damage model is fairly solid and a single blast that hit a critical component in your aircraft can quickly cripple you and make flight itself a challenge if not destroy your aircraft outright. So, if you want a combat flight simulator that isn't as demanding as DCS and other full fledged simulator that require hours to learn just the basic system and how to start the aircraft, but more complex and with more depth than the simplistic model in Ace Combat, then congratulation... you have found that game.
My faith in the industry is restored when I find games like these. A simulator that knows it's still just a game. No micro transactions, no logins, no distractions VR support and more PvE scenarios that don't tax the CPU's so much would be welcome :]
