About
Nuclear Option is a combat flight game set on a dynamic and realistic battlefield of the near future. Use an array of advanced weapons to change the course of battles as you intercept bombers, duel fighters, fly under the radar, or unleash the fury of nuclear weapons on enemy formations.
Each aircraft comes with an immersive cockpit featuring a situational awareness HUD, identifying nearby targets and threats. Aircraft can be flown with various controllers or with a mouse-controlled "virtual joystick", requiring no special hardware.
Experience realistic flight dynamics, with stalls, spins and g-force effects fully implemented, as each aircraft is composed of up to 50 individually simulated physics parts . A highly detailed damage model means that the condition of each part affects the way your aircraft flies.
Build your own missions using the included mission editor, and then fly your mission solo or with friends in PVP or PVE multiplayer combat.

Finaly can play a flight sim without feeling like I have to read a 10 page manual.
This is a solid flight simulator game that strikes a good balance between simulation and being able to jump in and play. There's a lot of interconnected systems at work for the flight model that are enjoyable to learn the ins-and-outs of. Heat output, radar cross-section, weight ratios, and the performance of ordinance are all things that are fun to learn and employ. The default selection of missions are good enough to get into the game, and the Escalation mission type is a very interesting take on combined-arms gameplay with nukes involved at later stages. Workshop aircraft livery allows me to indulge in my degeneracy and fly close to other players and see if they do too. All that being said, outside of the core flight model and gameplay, there are a lot of rough edges that the game needs to work out if it truly wants to be a combined-arms experience with a combination of strategy from land, air, and sea. I understand the game is being developed but I am unsure if they're going to be able to deliver on what they're selling. Here are some issues I've seen:

Ground unit AI and pathing is very limited. This helps keep a lot of them in play because they don't take much system resources, but their decision making is largely restricted to driving to specific points and firing at anything on the way.
There are frameworks for logistics, but they might as well not be there at this stage of development. Ferrying ammunition to installations, ships, or ground vehicles is too slow to be useful. Most ground vehicles are far too fragile to invest ferrying ammo to. You can use cargo helicopters to deploy ground units by air or while landed, but this has very limited effectiveness outside of being a requirement of certain scenarios or for deploying Jackknifes to repair destroyed airbases.
The UI and control schema is rather clustered. The devs have attempted to also make this game work on a controller, but there are just enough buttons to where this isn't easily possible. The keybinds UI for keyboard and mouse leaves a lot to be desired and some binds are not clearly explained or cannot be rebound. This makes it a little annoying to discover how to do things like manually control thrust-vectoring aircraft.
The default economy and balancing of game modes like escalation need a huge pass. It is currently serviceable right now if you only want matches to last an hour, tops, since killing virtually anything instantly earns you more money than you can really do anything with. Later game weapons systems like Piledriver ballistic missiles are fairly annoying to run interception for, and the nuclear escalation is both cool and annoying in that it deletes the airbases of both sides near immediately.
The overall war economy is not really clear, neither is where units get sourced from or how they get deployed. AI ground vehicle columns get deployed from nearby bases and kind of just drive to the nearest enemy base without much strategy. I think it would be interesting and maybe more manageable if larger groups of units could be deployed and organized into higher command echelons which could both help simplify the map's display by default and simplify overarching AI goals. If 12 tanks are traveling together with some logistical support vehicles, mark them as a tank company with NATO markers on the map instead of 12 individual tanks.
Enemy air power pretty sharply falls off after their initial reserves of planes are gone. Outside of being stiff armed at close range they are relatively easy to defeat. Even if I jack up the number of enemy AI aircraft to the max, they're pretty lackluster as an obstacle.
I am loving this game, it's in early access so it does leave a little to be desired at least with it's menus- but legitimately that's the only nitpick I can even have is the fact it's menus aren't the prettiest. It does everything else I think it's setting out to do quite well and I wholeheartedly recommend it to someone wanting the action arcade feeling games like Ace Combat offers whilst keeping the more grounded elements you'd see in something like a real life simulator. Im praying to managed democracy that they implement VR to this game.
mod. the. game.
Very good and fun. Especially with mods.
классный симулятор с неплохой графикой. SAM с радаром заставляет попугаться, конечно. что-то между аркадой и невозможным DCS World, ближе к аркаде. всё равно очень сложно. у меня два корабля съели 8 AShM и не подавились :P
