I guess it would be acceptable for typical retro futuristic noir detective movie. Sadly it is a game, a moderately tedious take on "find the hidden object". There is no way I am going to hunt for few pixels of huge blood splatter that counts as "evidence" again. And despite menacing messages after every few dialog options it seems that your actual impact is actually quite limited. Which would be more than understandable in "who did it" story, so I don't know what is the point of lying about it.
Wonderful story telling, as sci-fi fiction fan i am enjoying to play it again just to get to the bottom of this twisted dystopia.
Worth a play, I'd only like more fulfilling endings.
If you like a mix of cyberpunk and noir with a touch of Greek mythology, this game is for you!

I really enjoyed it, but I can't recommend it to everyone. If you dislike "walking simulator" games, you should skip this one. Kudos to the team on the world-building and narrative! It was very immersive, and I loved reading any tidbit I found about the universe itself. The characters were intriguing and well-developed, which helped me get immersed. The voice acting was good, although there was a lack of reaction in certain parts of the game.
Pretty cool detective story.
Altered Carbon - the detective game.
Playing this on the SteamDeck and only came across an iissue when in an area with a lot going on it drops frames a fair bit but only for a couple of seconds. Never changed any settings I think or I may have limited the fps to 30 or 60. The game is a 1940’s / 1950’s sci-fi noir type experience with you as a disgraced cop who gets sent to a crime scene by your boss in a city with flying old mobiles that gangsters used decades ago. The story is quite good and holds your attention better than some AAA games I’ve played which was a bonus as I hate games with weak stories as it’s like what’s the point of doing this if the story isn’t upto scratch. The mechanics in the game are well done with the tools you use to reconstruct scenes and X-ray etc make this game great. You can rewind a reconstruction and find clues within which will help you determine what happened. I’m only 3 missions in and thought I’d say this runs pretty well on the Steamdeck. I’ll update review once completed or I’ve done enough to allow me to put my experience down here.
Nobody Wants to Die is peak cinema. It's basically an atmospheric, story-driven walking simulator and I honestly loved it. While I was playing I kept getting vibes from the BioShock games (especially the first two and Burial at Sea), Life is Strange and L.A. Noire. I don't know exactly why, but it has that same atmosphere and worldbuilding that just pulls you in. The only con I can think of is Sarah's facial animations when she talks. They feel really strange and clunky at times. Besides that though, I really enjoyed the storytelling, the worldbuilding and the overall visual design. The soundtrack fits the setting perfectly, and the gameplay is satisfying for the most part. I had never even heard of this game before, so I went in with zero expectations. I picked it up for €3.74 and honestly that's a steal. I don't know what the developers are planning to do next, but I really hope they don't give up on this IP because it has a unique charm. I'd love to see them turn it into something bigger. Maybe a story-driven first-person shooter like BioShock, with light RPG elements. Or maybe something closer to Metro, with atmospheric exploration and semi-open areas like Exodus. They could even keep the detective mechanics and expand on them a bit, kind of like L.A. Noire. I feel like this world has so much potential and I'd definitely like to see more of it. Anyways, it's a great linear, short, atmospheric and visually pleasing game. For around 4 bucks on sale, you really can't complain.
