You are gifted with a photographic memory. While you are carrying out the demands of the kidnapper, uncover clues in your surroundings to track down your family and rescue them.
Your life will be put at risk of a variety of threats. Stealth mechanics are present. You must be stealthy as you are observant.

First two levels are fantastic and really set the atmosphere of the game. However upon reaching the cemetery level the game nosedives into being a slog to get through. Devs needed to work on the other half of the game to bring it up to par to the first. Also including a random killer at the end of chapter 1 only for him to not even show up again as a consistent threat is a strange thing to do. Good bones of a game but this isn't it sadly.
I got e-mailed about a dozen times by this developer, not seeming like they even remembered messaging me. They complimented their hard work on the game, praising it as the "top 10 upcoming games" even though the game one day after release doesn't have 10+ reviews yet which for a "top 10 game" seems very suspicious. Also, they kept talking about other content creators, such as Insym, versus even showing remote interest in me. I received this game for free, and I still want my money back. The game challenges you to think, then shows exactly what to do all the time. The only thing it didn't show me to do which I figured out myself was to uninstall the game before beating it. Congratulations, you made a game I can't find the energy to beat.
This game somehow captured the crime movie feel from the early 2000s which is a personal favourite type of movie for me. The way the dialogue was written and how the story unfolded had a rawness and boldness to it that has somehow slipped out of our modern entertainment landscape and was rather nostalgic for me. It made the story feel more real, less scripted and produced, and the atmosphere was captured really well. The mystery is really engaging as the importance and relevance of each clue becomes clearer and clearer as you progress. This creates almost a dual story where what happened to your family slowly starts to reveal itself in tandem as you progress through the actual events in real time and try to survive. This to me was the biggest highlight as I have yet to see a mystery game designed in such a way. The pace is fast and refreshing compared to a typical detective game where you just go to a crime scene and slowly work your way through a mystery. One downside is the stealth. It works well enough to tell the story and move things along, but it could be more complex in design for the price point. The AI pathing can be predicted quite well after some experience and became easier and easier for me. The different types of threats and multiple vast environments were beautifully crafted and managed to make each chapter feel new and alive though. Conclusion: I had yet to see real innovation in the detective mystery genre of games over the past decade and this one, although a little simple in some areas, seems to be the first one that really brings something fresh. For anyone who likes a challenging mystery game with a deep story and great movie-like feel, this game is recommended.
Nice thriller in where you race against time to save your family, however one stage ruins an otherwise enjoyable experience. You play the character of a detective with photographic memory, who excels at his work. Unfortunately, this has a negative impact on your family and eventually leads to your divorce. The anguish is amplified because the wife also takes your daughter. So, when they decide to pay you a visit on your birthday, you avoid repeating past mistakes. You rush home to meet them after informing the boss that you are taking a few days off and will be unable to handle the huge case. But when you arrive, you find the place wrecked and your family gone. All you find are some clothes, a silenced gun, and a radio with a voice telling you to do what they say. The game focuses on stealth. There are occasions when you can sprint and walk, but most of the time you must crouch and move slowly. If you stand up or run, you will be immediately chased because the enemy has excellent hearing. You must also avoid patrolling enemies. Because there is no visual cue to indicate whether you are hidden or spotted, you must hide behind objects or in closets and listen for footsteps. Fortunately, the game does not cheat, and you will not be detected while crouching behind foes. The game uses checkpoints, so getting caught or failing a goal is not a big problem. They are relatively regular, so you will not waste too much time. Progress is linear, and you will pass through five stages or locations. Your objective is to do precisely what the voice instructs you and do it immediately. That is because the objectives have a time constraint. If you try to do something else or do not obey the voice, your family will be killed. Objectives use waypoints to show you exactly where you need to go, eliminating the guesswork. In addition to completing the objectives, you also clues. However, this can only be done between objectives because the voice dislikes deviations. Because no visual cues or waypoints are provided, you must locate them on your own by carefully inspecting the surroundings. Fortunately, you know how many there are, and they emit a faint glow when you approach close enough. Clues are retained in your memory thanks to your photographic memory. There is some reasoning involved, as a couple of clues demand information from another. For example, information for accessing a computer. A nice quality of life aspect is that discovered clues are not erased if you are detected. Clues are vital for the best endings since you must enter the correct answers in the last stage. The game is not very long, with only five stages, yet it manages to generate a pleasant mood. The story and voices are also nice. Unfortunately, the fourth stage spoils everything with ridiculous design decisions. Here, you must look for clues in a vast graveyard with sensitive troops patrolling the grounds. Fog makes things even more difficult, and all you have is a thermal camera with an extremely low battery. Strangely, the camera did not require a battery just a few moments before. Clues cannot be seen with the thermal camera, which is another major issue because turning the camera on and off consumes significantly more power than simply leaving it on. You will not enjoy stealth if you want to complete all achievements. There are two that want you to finish the game without being detected and killed. This is a waste of time because even a single error renders the achievement invalid and forces you to restart the entire game. One last thing I didn't like that much, which will bother you even more if you decide to replay the game, are scenes where you just stand there listening to long conversations. You can't skip those.
Unreachable was a very unique game within the horror genre. I absolutely love the premise of the game and that you have to really pay attention in order to obtain the "true ending". However, I feel like it was pushed too hard that you need to listen/take notes/etc in order to reach the solution to the primary puzzle. In my opinion, everything can be found within the clues obtained throughout the game. I did find the story interesting/engaging, the voice acting was quite good, and the environments were pretty. The NPC models weren't too bad, but had room for improvement. Overall a positive experience. Now for some items that I feel need to be commented on. This is feedback from my personal experience playing the game, and some of the frustrations I ran into. (I did stream this game when I played it for the first time and realized pretty quick I needed to put more focus on the game than initially thought haha.) * Random game overs. Details within spoiler as it contains specific in-game examples.
* There were several points where the kidnapper would seemingly randomly kill my family. An example would be waiting for ~3 minutes after entering the message for the final puzzle. It was unexpected and without warning. This happened in other maps as well, but that was the most specific example I can provide. I totally understand the time limit portions, but I would just get to a checkpoint, the objective would change, then my family would die. This happened once when I was at the top of the chapel steps. The kidnapper warned me, I bolted up the stairs, the objective changed to look in the building, and my family was killed. xD There were other times it honestly seemed random or that I hit a "bug" that triggered it.
*Initial game gamma settings. Setting that left symbol to barely visible or a tad brighter will destroy your experience at the second level. I ran around that house so many times, got to the second half of the chapter without realizing there were stairs to access the second floor. (Yes yes... if I used the grey mass between my ears I would've known there was a second floor due to the windows on the outside. ) It was only after turning gamma all the way up was I able to see the stairs as well as notes on tables that I had missed prior. * Random Evil NPC = Game Over :
Where TF did stabby McGee come from?! I died to him twice, then was paranoid that MF'er would show up randomly later and mess up my progress. Okay... this isn't really feedback, more of a personal vent point. :P
In summary, I found the game interesting and would recommend it to any horror/suspense gamer that is looking for something a little bit different. However, I may wait for this guy to go on sale before giving it a shot.
Overall a fun and challenging mystery-story game of about 3-6 hours long, depending on your abilities to progress through the story and get to the good ending. The biggest highlight of this game was how the mystery unfolded in real time as you are getting through the story, as opposed to looking at a case retrospectively in conventional mystery games. This really adds to the intensity of the experience, and is a style I have never quite experienced before which was very refreshing. It felt like you were playing through a movie. The story and atmosphere hits hard and the lore was surprisingly rich. The mystery does take concentration and quite abit of brain cells to solve, but feels rewarding when done. One downside is that dialogues are unskippable when you die and respawn from last checkpoint which can be abit annoying if you die many times, but I was really into the story and the details of what they were saying in order to pick up on any clues to win so overall it did not significantly damage my experience. - Graphics: Decent quality, though not triple A standard, good for its price point. The lighting and fog really helps to shape the game’s dark mood and feel. - Sound design: Movie-like voice acting. Music is intense and sets a great atmosphere in all stages of the game and develops according to the moment. A few sound effects can be further polished but overall acceptable for its price point and gets the job done in terms of immersion. Overall a refreshing and fun indie gem if you are into the mystery and detective genre, as long as you can handle the difficulty and are willing to retry levels to get to the good ending.
Yes, the graphics are a bit dated, but not everything needs to have shiny new pictures to be good. The tension was really good, the gameplay was somewhat unique, and I'm glad I got to playtest this one. Yes, I would have paid for it if I hadn't playtested it. Ignore the reviews that complain about some of the achievements being hard to get. It's about time that there were more games that didn't hand out achievements like candy just for ordinary gameplay.
Great game so far, highly recommend if there is a winter sale!!
A pretty interesting little game. It's far more about stealth and collecting things than it is about solving puzzles. Really there's only one big puzzle to solve, at the end of the game, that determines your ending. But the game oozes atmosphere, the voice acting is superb outside of 1 or 2 characters. When you're given tools like a map that you can draw on, a compass, etc. it really makes it seem like exploration and puzzling is going to be a bigger part of the game than they end up being, which was a disappointment, as the game is actually very linear. Still, an interesting little story game and a payoff at the end if you really examine all of your clues and solve the final puzzle.
