Certainly a sequel of all time. Though before NMH 3 came out, I hated this game. But when NMH 3 turned out to be a big disappointment for me (from technical, gameplay, and story standpoints), I started thinking that I was rather too harsh on this game all this time. Aside from muscle training and Jasper Batt Jr. fight, this game isn't that bad to be honest.
It's a good game but it's definitely not worth the regular 20 dollars it asks for, buy it for 10 dollars on sale. It removes all of the grindy open world parts from the first game which is great, you just select what you want to do from a menu and instantly start. The minigames are also way more fun compared to the first game, and the OST is good (Philistine is the best). However, this game is absolutely not friendly to KBM users, and there's many things that simply don't work on keyboard such as parrying. Despite parrying being just enabling lock-on at a specific time, it doesn't work on keyboard for whatever reason. This can give huge problems against a certain boss. By default, shift is the lock on key (it's not a toggle). Having to hold it down for an entire boss fight can put a lot of strain on your hand so be careful. Bosses aren't as memorable compared to the first game. The story also isn't as good but teaches a good lesson. Some pre-boss fights were unbearably long with a million enemies for no reason. Was able to get all achievements (not true 100%) in a little over 10 hours. Overall a 7.5/10 experience, buy on sale.
Overall an amasing sequel that I doubt I will be able to appreciate fully until some time passes :[ It seems like it improves a lot of things that the first game had perfect(which is fantastic), cutscenes and bosses are more epic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nonsense, we are able to play as more than 1 character, narrative has taken a more serious route without it ruining the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ funny vibe the first game had, more bosses and all of them are pretty unique either from narrative point (bossfight for 2 rank) or gameplay point (more than half of them). Gameplay more fun in some aspects, the roulette has higher chances to hit something, gauge system is fun with it giving you more area for combos. But there are some downsides that I cannot close my eyes for. Biggest dissapointment in this is that they fully got rid of open world and all of the side-quests are now in 8-bit games style, which gets annoying real quick and do not become nearly as interesting as the ones in the first game. And getting rid of the open-world from the first game makes the atmosphere of the game like a lot less immersive and you like do not want to see the menu on where you going to go, I always was thinking "just make this fully linear game why do I need to see this not-so diverse menu of staff I can do". And the revenge missions does not even give you like any money, so it's just if you feel like fighting a few more enemies than needed you can go there. But there is also a huge point in fighting system that they decided to remove from the first game -- it's ability to slice a crowd of enemies with the right stick slash. In the sequel you can do more than one foe only when gauge mode is activated, I think it ruins the main point of fun that you were getting from the gameplay of the first game, but they do not compensate this with anything(maybe higher roulette chances is what they expected but it's still completely different part of fighting in this game) This is an amasing freaking sequel overall, and maybe after some time I will get used to the downsides I mentioned and it will be another masterpiece for me, but for now it just stays as another beautiful experience of the suda51 games.

I wish this game and the first game could make sex and have baby.
