NightKnight is a fantasy archery VR game. The game currently consists of a four week single player story mode campaign with co-op and multiplayer coming soon. When I first started playing the game I found it to be very hard to land a shot and it kept sending archers, a harder enemy, at me so I kept dying. I was a few minutes away from giving it in but I persisted for a bit and I'm glad I did. I'm not sure why but the game seemed to decrease it's difficulty and sent far fewer archers in the early levels plus I found my preferred way to hold the bow and my aim got a lot better, I was finally having fun. I think it adapts difficulty at the start and it seems to start way too high so just stick with it for a while until it becomes easier then you'll have a great time. The game play consists of you standing on the archers tower on a castles wall and every night skeletons, goblins, and other monsters attack and try to breach the castle. With your trusty bow you need to fend them off. At the end of each week you are rewarded with a new bow that possesses a different power. After you kill enough enemies you raise your bow above your head and activate the power. The last day of the week a boss monster turns up and spawns new enemies until you kill him. The enemies don't shoot you, they all aim for the castle gate to try and destroy it, if they do it's all over. In the end I played it for nearly two hours, made it to fourth place on the leader board, and really enjoyed myself. I made it to day three of week four before I died but my video had to be cut off early due to a nasty popup that I didn't know had appeared over my recording. I added a screen shot of my results at the end for those interested. It's quite a good game and the price point is nice and cheap, when the multi player aspects are added it will be very good value. I did notice it was very sluggish in the main menu an I was worried I wouldn't be able to play it but once I entered the game the performance was perfect. I was worried my GTX970 had finally met it's match but it was fine. Take a look at my video to see what you think... https://youtu.be/ws-09cMqZjo Thanks for watching, please like, subscribe and comment.
Just got the chance to play this one, still breathing heavily :) I can truly say that it was an hilariously intense VR exp. Really enjoyed the slow-motion mode and the burning fields. I was chatting with the developers on their Discord channel and it seems that they have VERY cool features coming soon Waiting for the next updates.
Good funny bow defense game. Different enemies and bows variety make it attractive. Gameplay, graphics fully match the video.
This little jewel of a game popped into my sight and as a fan of TowerDefense type of games, I thought it's worth checking out. From the first moment you see the touches of humor and chaotic moments in the game's trailer until the last when you reach the game's end (I won't spoil it for you), you are captivated by its cool mechanics, beautiful art style and humorous gameplay & sound. Game's difficulty is increased linearly, bow feels just about right and the player progression system together with the interactive elements in the map are an excellent addition. Developers are nice and responsive, promising cool new features to come in upcoming updates, but even without it it's still a VR archery game worth checking out.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
I actually got this game in a VR bundle, 9 VR games for $4 deal. This game may be worth it at less than .99 cents type of deal, but it certainly isn't worth $14.99 USD or even the sale price of $7.49 USD. This game is just mediocre at best and because of some bugs I encountered, I'm giving it a thumbs down review. Keep in mind, this game has 18 positive reviews and 4 negative reviews ... but only 2 reviews from people who actually bought the darn game on Steam. And, mysteriously, you have 2 reviewers with 600+ hours in this game with only 1 review in their accounts, both positive for this game with the exact same Portuguese 1 sentence review ... geez, even Scooby-doo and the gang could figure out this mystery without the help of Velma. Anyways, this is yet another stand still (with some teleporting) archery game in VR. Honestly, if you're being generous you're counting it as an average TD archery game, but a few issues keep it in the bottom half of that genre for me personally. The graphics art style is something you'll either like or hate (I don't know how anybody who could love it but whatevs). However, it does look an awful lot like several other archery defense games I've seen in VR. The game does run smoothly outside of the bugs I encountered. The bow feels good and is pretty accurate. Animations are okay and the sounds are mediocre at best. So what's wrong? Well, it's just one stage as far as I can tell. Nothing really changes. It's just really more & more enemies. Sure there's some nice artificial variations on enemies, but it basically comes down to they are either melee or ranged. They all act the same from these two variants, just different skins & animations. It's really a matter of they have either more health or more powerful attacks on the castle. Soon even headshots are not one hit kills and you're over-run by enemies really fast. I'll admit, I only got to the 4th night. You might think that is bad and maybe it is, but I was also #33 on the leaderboard and there were certainly a lot more players than that on the leaderboard. So most people had trouble getting past the 4th night. I never saw any upgrades (other than the fire arrow one) or bows. i never saw any portals opening that you can teleport to or any traps you can lay (I only saw them in the store page video). On the 4th night, there's just too many enemies all at once and it seems the difficulty spike was over the top. I had no trouble with 1-3 nights, but after several tries I couldn't get past that night ... and you have to start from night 1 each time. The tutorial is bare bones .. if you can call it a tutorial (the game calls it that). I didn't even realize that you can shoot dead enemies to turn them into ghosts which you can shoot to regain health for your castle until late in my playthrough. I eventually gave up on the game because it would always crash whenever I tried to get to the main menu or quit the game. I had to take off my headset and manually click off the game (it would crash my Oculus home app). I wasn't having fun and there wasn't anything new or original that I saw in this game. Keep in mind, we have In Death, Holopoint, QuiVR, Elven Assassin, Twisted Arrow, Sacralith, etc. All much better than this game. In fact, I would have trouble listing a bow & arrow game worse than this at this listed price range! I honestly can't think of one. Rate 4/10. Mediocre at best, and with the crashes I experienced, I would rank it in the bottom half of either bow & arrow games in VR or TD games in VR. Don't settle for this mobile VR quality crap.
First to review!? I'm surprised no one has reviewed this game! It's SOOOO FUN! This is Valve's "Longbow" but with more stuff! I love the night and day animations in the sky (3d moon rise). The added abilities and new functions on the map as you progress through the game make it continuous fun! The only thing that bugs me is the bow mechanics. It's not "BAD" but I feel like Valve's "Longbow" game feels better and more accurate. When I shoot with the bow in this game, it seems almost like it compensates for distance and shoots differently for closer shots. Where as "Longbow" shoots the same no matter what the distance at full draw, and it forces the user to compensate more or less based on distance. I may not be accurate on this, but it just feels like that to me personally. Otherwise AWESOME GAME!
I am going to start this out by saying this game is an awesome tower defense style game. The first thing I noticed when loading into the story mode, was the bow mechanics. The aiming feels very smooth and that of a normal bow, or as close to a normal bow that you can get in a video game. The game seems like The Labs castle defense but with a twist. I like that after you beat each week in the story mode you are able to unlock new bows with different power ups, I wont say what they are as to not ruin anything for anyone looking to play. Each week grows more difficult with the last week being insane and has defeated me still! If you like bow and arrow VR games, I definitely recommend checking this game out!
Really fun game. The bows feel great in the hand and arrows have an accurate physics. The art fits the vibe of the game - dark & funny. I heard that the multiplayer is coming soon... Gonna be a blast ;)
Highly recommended! This game is quite addictive, couldn't get enough. My friend and I were browsing for a new game, when we saw the trailer we were laughing so much we couldn't not try it. Funny, very intuitive gameplay, bows feel very nice. We liked the interactive traps and barriers, it adds so much to the player's strategic. Even when you die, the skeleton throw a party, it's kinda fun to die. I guess a little bit of sound balance will do great to this XP. Looking forward to the multiplayer update! Thumbs up!
Ich habe mich für negativ entschieden aufgrund des Preises. Dieser scheint mir für das Gebotene zu hoch. Dennoch ein solides Pfeil- und Bogen-Spiel mit guter Grafik und passablem Handling.
