As a fan os Smups I'd say this one is on par with Touhou IN in terms of difficulty. The character rotation is hard to get used to at first though.
A Charming, Challenging Spin-Off
Neptunia Shooter takes the beloved characters of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series and throws them into a retro-inspired bullet-hell shooter. While it’s a far cry from the RPG roots of the franchise, this spin-off offers a fast-paced, arcade-style experience that’s simple to pick up but tough to master. Gameplay – Tight and Addictive The core gameplay is straightforward—dodge waves of enemy fire while blasting through colorful Dogoos and facing off against familiar faces as bosses. What keeps things fresh is the ability to unlock and switch between different characters, each with unique shooting patterns. Neptune fires straight ahead, while others offer spread shots, backward attacks, or defensive options. This mechanic adds a fun layer of strategy, forcing quick thinking as enemy patterns intensify. The difficulty ramps up quickly, making each run a tense but rewarding challenge. While the game is short (just six stages), the lack of continues means you’ll need skill (and a bit of memorization) to reach the end. Leaderboard support gives competitive players a reason to keep chasing high scores. Presentation – Retro Charm The pixel art is vibrant and charming, faithfully recreating the Neptunia cast in 8-bit style. The chiptune soundtrack is catchy, though the constant firing sound effects can drown it out. A minor gripe is the static starfield background—some visual variety would’ve been nice—but the sprite work and animations are solid. Verdict – A Fun Diversion Neptunia Shooter doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it’s a well-crafted love letter to classic shooters with just enough Nep-Nep flavor to please fans. The character-swapping mechanic adds depth, and the challenge ensures replayability. At just $5, it’s a great pick for quick sessions or score chasers. Score: 7.5/10 "A short but sweet shooter that proves Neptune can conquer any genre!" Highlights: ✔ Addictive, challenging gameplay ✔ Clever character-swapping mechanics ✔ Charming retro visuals and music ✔ Great value for the price Considerations: ✘ Short length ✘ Repetitive backgrounds ✘ Sound effects can overwhelm the music Final Thoughts: If you’re a fan of bullet-hell shooters or just love Neptunia’s quirky cast, this spin-off is a delightful way to spend an afternoon. It may not be groundbreaking, but it’s a polished, enjoyable experience that’s hard to put down. Recommendation: Worth a shot! (Pun intended.)
This Game is very basic, but very hard. I would not recommend playing it, as it has a bunch of problems. This Game could easily give the player a different button for every kind of attack you unlock, to not have to switch through multiple characters when wanting a different weapon, as it needs you to use everything. It also wants you to memorize everything to be able to clear it, because if you're only reacting, there will be times in which it becomes impossible to dodge attacks. You also move very slow, which isn't bad for bullet hell games in general, but you should also provide a faster movement option imo. Would be nice to reposition quickly in certain situations. I wouldn't mind the game being as hard as it is, if it would save and would let you try again in each level. But if you run out of lives, you gotta start from level 1. It gets boring super quickly. Keep a hardmode or something for people wanting to do that, but as it stands, I am unable to clear this game, as I am already sick of seeing the first 3 stages and do not want to further waste my time. I don't have fun hunting for "high scores" if I can't even beat the game.
Game is short but stupid hard, still good game.
Neptunia Shooter, retro sunumlu kompakt bir yatay kaydırmalı nişancı oyunudur. Pixel art yoğun sahnelerde netlik sunar. Mermi görünürlüğü tepkileri hızlandırır. Performans stabildir.

Basically a collector's game. There's better bullet hells, there's better 8-bit games, and there's MUCH better Neptunia games. 5/10, only get this if you're a diehard Neptunia fan.
I never played any Neptunia games prior to this, but I picked this up cos looked like a fun little shmup. The lo-res pixel art is nice. The character-switching mechanic is novel and interesting. You begin with one character and every level after the first adds another character with a different shot to your roster than you can cycle between with the left and right bumpers. Cycling between characters for optimum shooting efficiency is key to mastering the levels, and every time you add a new character you must re-learn the optimal cycling direction.
