The game is horrifying in a way I’ve never experienced, but many people have. It feels so real and uncomfortable, and made me feel gross. I don’t want to spoil anything, but you can probably guess where the story goes just from the title. The manipulation shown in the game happens every day — from parents, partners, bosses or people we trust. It might be too much for some people, but I think it teaches some really important lessons about manipulation, assault and setting healthy boundaries. I also really liked that you play as a man. Women experience this kind of thing all the time, but showing it from a male perspective is a good reminder that manipulation not limited to one gender.

I am a big fan of horror games, especially psychological horrors but this game is really something else. I saw a negative review saying this game didn't have enough 'horror elements' and yes, if you're looking for a game with monsters and jumpscares don't bother playing this one. The terrifying part is the fact that this might be someone's reality right now, there's no need for monsters in this story. The expierience made me very uncomfortable, but I think that's the whole point and that's what makes this game a masterpiece. It pictures domestic abuse and toxic relationships perfectly and people who went through such things might relate the the MC. Not only is the art and setting insanely beautiful and fitting, I also found the dialogue uncomfortably realistic. Also the music is amazing. Summing up I heavily encourage anyone to play this game, even if they aren't a huge fan of horrors or this specific genre. It might make you more empathetic towards other people and show you what somebody might be going through. It made me very emotional and I can't wait until 'Happy House' comes out.
От твоего выбора зависит: отстоишь ты крепость, или впустить троянского коня в свои задние ворота.
A friend asked me to play this game just to see my live reaction. We played through it together, and it was really interesting, to say the least. Within reason, I genuinely think everyone should experience this game once. The game deals with very heavy and upsetting situations that happens to real people. Because of that, I would actually say that people who have gone through similar experiences might be better off not playing it, especially if those experiences are still difficult for them. Instead, I think the people who *haven't* experienced situations like these are the ones who should play it. The game really puts into perspective what it's like to be on the vulnerable end of a situation like this. It lets you explore many different ways of dealing with what is happening and, more importantly, shows you what you can realistically expect as a consequence of those actions, or of not acting at all. It builds this perfectly from the very beginning, especially in the way things gradually escalate over time. Something that initially seems uncomfortable but manageable slowly becomes something much more serious, and the game makes you understand the importance of recognizing the warning signs and acting early. What makes it so effective is that it doesn't need to get into the truly screwed-up details to make its point. It doesn't need monsters or exaggerated horror. It simply puts you in an increasingly uncomfortable, vulnerable, and eventually dangerous situation and asks you to deal with it, and that's what makes it genuinely disturbing. More than anything, though, I think this game can help people build empathy for those who are going through similar situations, or who already have. Sometimes people find it difficult to truly connect with someone's experience when they've never experienced anything remotely similar themselves. It's easy to look at a situation from the outside and think about what you would have done, what someone should have done, or how obvious the warning signs seem in hindsight. Well... Here it is. Now you're the one in that position. What do you do?
As a victim of domestic abuse as a child and adult, and also a mayor in psychology, therapist. I recommend this game. Even if i am a woman, i do very much recall being in this situation, both the mental and sexual abuse. The way Radek gaslight, belittle, manipulated, economically abuse the main car is very realistic. The game gives some good advice on boundary, and also how it feels being manipulated and keeping them. Actually this game works well if you experience any kind of push on consent and boundary. and the whole willpower, saying no i rather interesting. the art style and music is very haunting. the game both triggered me, but it also took something from me. i learned something new and it made me aware of how lack of boundaries and how often my boundaries were pushed away as a child. (cant wait to play the other game.) But also word of advice, in real life: The main car has to fight or runaway to survive the situation. there is very big focus on how you act and what you say. but the villian is the same. I kinda dont like this victim blaming mentality, which puts the blame on the person. Radek is dangerous, harrasing and would have assaulted you regardless. (yes moving in with him is a big red flag, but often is how domestic abuse is. guilt and feeling like you have no choice, often if you are abused at home aswell) often times if your abused by your parents, you dont know boundaries or what is right and wrong. often time you blame yourself. Consent doesnt help. Boundary doesnt work. If your being abused and pushed like this you need to get away, get help or if you can, fight back. there is no use talking sense into people with predatory behavior. u need to get away from anyone stepping over you, making fun of your consent. like the game ending, you can get assaulted or even killed if you set boundary. a person like that dont care what you say, and will even be more aggressive if you stand up.it might help with a normal , workplace or friend, but not a predator that abuse you, psychological, physical or sexual. Amazing game, short, psychological game. Good way to learn about psychology and boundaries.
A very eye-opening game. As a victim of similar things in this story it truly feels amazing to see a game that so perfectly replicates certain situations and words told between the victim and abuser. I felt very seen during the whole game playthrough, and I'm sure many others felt that way, too.
Somehow more uncomfortable than all of OUTLAST
