"Shockingly Brilliant Roguelike Deckbuilder." Lost for Swords was a complete blind buy — honestly, I bought it by mistake. Then I saw a bit of gameplay and figured, why not give it a shot? What followed completely stunned me. This game is special. It’s unlike any other roguelike deckbuilder I’ve played, managing to blend strategy, tension, and creativity into something that feels both fresh and addicting. At its core, it’s turn-based — but every single decision you make carries real weight. One misplay can cost you everything, and one clever combo can completely turn the tide. That sense of risk and reward makes every run feel meaningful, almost like a small story unfolding turn by turn. You’re constantly on edge, thinking two steps ahead, and that’s what makes it so engaging. There are multiple classes to experiment with, each with their own playstyle and personality, and the balance between them feels just right. What really blew me away was the sheer replayability — not only are the level designs fun and varied, but there’s a full-on level editor and even a multiplayer option. I genuinely didn’t expect that from an indie roguelike deckbuilder. The card synergy system is fantastic — combos feel satisfying and smart, not random or luck-based. It rewards experimentation in the best way possible. And despite its tactical depth, the game never feels punishing — it’s challenging, but fair, and every loss teaches you something new. Visually, it’s vibrant and charming, with a cute but clean art direction that keeps the atmosphere light while the combat stays intense. The sound design gives every action a satisfying punch, and while the soundtrack isn’t groundbreaking, it fits perfectly and keeps you immersed. Overall, Lost for Swords completely caught me off guard. It’s a masterfully balanced, highly replayable roguelike deckbuilder that nails both gameplay and personality. What started as an accidental purchase has turned into one of my favorite deckbuilders in years — and I honestly can’t recommend it enough.
Love this game! Simple to learn, hard to master, addictive.
This was a gem, like an emerald (play the game to find out). Speaking of puns, check out the title. Two puns in one! Not only is it a pun on "lost for words", but you also have to find the lost four swords. Yeah, that's about it for story, but you didn't come here for that. The gameplay is challenging on regular difficulty, and there are options to increase the difficulty. There are four classes as of this review - Knight, Rogue, Mage, and Warlock. I found Knight and Warlock to be the easiest. Rogue and Mage are decent until the final tower, which becomes very challenging. Try different strategies and starting decks and see what works! The tutorial is pretty good. It teaches you most of what you need to know. Move around on a grid. Pick up weapons, prepare spells, cast scrolls, gain armor, fight monsters using your top weapon or spell. There are 3 parts to each floor. Towers have between 5 and 10 floors. That means, if you're doing well, your run could take about an hour and a half, maybe more. And you might just find yourself smashing your fists against a barrel for ten minutes (yes, there's a reason to do this). My favorite part of the game is the variety of characters and strategies. It doesn't get old. My least favorite thing is losing at the very end of the last tower! I would also point out that there are a couple of minor bugs. One of the warlock achievements says "mage" in it, and the warlock is unable to go through advanced training. It's ok though, as long as you went through it with another character. I'd definitely recommend picking up this game. Then you can pick up a lot of emeralds in-game and put the merchants' kids through college.
i would give this a mixed review if i could did i have fun? yes is it unique? yes does it have content? yes but whats wrong with it? the balancing is off. the whole system is very flawed, the different starting decks kinda sucked and at some point i just lost interest in it why recommend? bc its unique enough for yall to try it out, if its your kinda game or if it isnt
