About
Neon Spellstorm throws you into the shoes of a powerful wizard in a low-tech cyberpunk world, sprinting along a crumbling neon path. Every step brings you closer to new foes and treasures, but don’t look back: the path collapses behind you! Use everything at your disposal to survive as you carve a path through destructible terrain, unleash an arsenal of devastating spells, and create wild synergies that make each run unique.
The environment itself becomes an obstacle, with terrain crumbling behind you and breaking apart as spells and enemies collide. Every run challenges you to stay one step ahead, with each decision propelling you deeper into the unknown.
Forge your own style of magic with a spell system designed for insane combos. Stack, upgrade, and enhance spells to create unimaginable power. Experiment with Echo casts that trigger additional spells, Behemoth casts that multiply the size and impact, and auxiliary effects that unleash chaos across the battlefield. With every piece of Gear, Sigil, and Trinket, your wizard grows stronger, able to obliterate entire waves of enemies in a single cast.
As you venture deeper into the Neon, you’ll earn meta-currencies - Orbs, Stars, Gems, and Neon - that allow you to unlock permanent upgrades back at the Neon Core. Invest in new spells, abilities, and traits that expand your arsenal, and raise your Storm Level to unlock harder challenges and new enemies.
Choose your strategy with each run. Configure your Wizard before embarking: select your Spells, Fate, Archetypes, and Sigils to suit your style. Within the run, adapt to branching paths, deciding whether to explore every zone for maximum rewards or make a straight shot to the final boss. Every choice impacts your progress and your wizard’s evolution.
Dive into this neon-soaked, otherworldly realm of corrupted creatures and geometric landscapes. In Neon Spellstorm, spells reshape the terrain, debris fly with each cast, and pixel art collides with 3D physics to create an explosive, immersive experience. The vibrant colors and minimalistic cyberpunk aesthetic make each encounter feel as striking as it is deadly.
Are you ready to embrace the Neon and unleash magic like never before? The path awaits, but it won’t stay for long…

The thing that makes this game stand out is the incredible depth of the character build system. First, there is a wide variety of randomized gear that can drop during a run ... strategically choosing which pieces to equip as your run evolves will often be the difference between victory and defeat. Additionally, as you complete increasingly difficult runs, you will unlock an increasing variety of customization options ... Additional wizard classes with different strengths/weaknesses, additional spells, starting gear, and even Neon Sigils which can select at the start of the run to provide some direction to your build. The deep character build system makes ever run feel different and gives the game a ton of replayability. Lots of fun! Highly recommend!
Played Tap Wizard 2 for hundreds of hours (saved me from losing my mind at work back then, lol), therefore my expectations for this game were quite high, and damn, I did not get disappointed so far. It kind of manages to capture all the beauty of TW2 and put it into a different genre and it just... works? Very creative systems and good progression. Catchy music. Smooth Gameplay. (I might add more to this Review once I played more of the game.)
Really impressive build customisation. I love feeling like every spell can be as viable as any other.
Game is a lot of fun
Recommended because: - Satisfying spell chains and synergies - Good variety in characters and spells to choose from - Many interesting meta upgrades that aren't just "+X stat" - Nice surreal pixel art style - Cool electronic music
The artstyle, music and premise is very cool - but that's all I really liked about it. I dislike the slow movement speed of the player, this is at least one aspect that makes the standard gameplay a bit too plodding/cumbersome for my taste. I also dislike the upgrade choices in this game - very samey and yet always require some time to digest and consider. Convoluted. Because I didn't enjoy this aspect of it, it felt like tedium/busy work rather than something I'd get excited about.
A decent bullet heaven roguelite about spell customization. 7.5/10 Strengths: Spell customization is fun, trying to either create a massive spell chain that clears the screen or buff up my base spell casts to do the same is fun The art is good A lot of variance for loadouts with extra challenges. Flaws: There isn't much in the way of meta-progression before you win your first run, which kind of defeats the point of metaprogression The early midgame of each run (about soul level 2-3) isn't very interesting imo. It's after you're done worrying about early game, but before you can start to prepare for the boss. If you don't have a forge or a shop, its about 4 zones of not much happening.
Absolute Banger, go get it ! Dev is very active on discord, tons of content and variety, what a breath of fresh air.
i was already excited for this game but when I booted it up and recognized the playstyle n saw that its the same dev as TW2 I knew it was gonna be a banger.. and it is!!! my only complaint is that I wish it displayed keyword explanations when you moused over items like it does in something like StS or magic arena or whateva
In the early 90s I must have imagined games of the future would look and feel like this.
