Too much like Terraria while being worse in almost every way and not doing anything new.

Worse reward structure. It has less unique equipment (making exploration less rewarding). The way crafting recipes are revealed spoils a lot of equipment in massive chunks (rather than when you get key materials). Mining is a lesser part of this game both because there's less things to find and because mineable materials are rarer.
Underground (where you would be mining) is spawning constant enemies which don't give anything useful and only slow you down. Meanwhile enemies you might want to farm don't constantly respawn.
Movement speed is too slow for how much empty(or useless) space you have to travel through.
Severe lack of QoL in inventory management and crafting. Simple example: You need to expand your base a lot early on. To do that you have to craft Walls and Floors at the bench. It's an extra step that also adds travel time and 2 extra items to manage. It could have just been building walls/floor directly from stone and when destroyed they could turn back to stone. There's like 20 other design decisions creating pointless speed bumps by making interactions clunky, or adding redundant items to manage.
You have your own village (not unlike Terraria in terms of how you get NPCs) and the settlers do things for you. The only problem is, what they do is effectively the same thing you would do by exploring, while costing upkeep.
Finally there are raids on your village, and the raiders that kill your NPCs and steal stuff from your storage. Target farming materials is already pretty tedious and you can lose entire stacks of them.
This is Terraria-like experience with a lot more clunk and significantly more speed bumps.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

If you like Terraria, you'll probably like this game. Could maybe use some QoL updates, but it's pretty fun, and more fun with friends imo.
Stardew Valley здорового человека. Тот случай, когда игра взяла понемногу отовсюду, но получилась очень самобытной и интересной. Давно я так приятно не проводил время: с первого захода затянула на все 50 часов полного прохождения. Определенно стоит своих денег!
Good little game. Solo it gets rough toward the end. Love the inventory management options that the villagers will organize your stuff for you if you set up the chests to do it. More games should have that system.
For terraria lovers this is a gem
I think this game is vastly underrated. I loved Terraria, from start to finish, and have been trying to find another game that would scratch that itch. I tried Valheim because it was constantly being compared to Terraria. I didn't like it. Unless you were an extrovert trapped in your house during the pandemic and was hungry for social interaction, or nostalgic for that time when you had so much fun with your friends while trapped in your house, I don't think the game itself is all that. When I tried it, the mechanics were clunky and trying too hard to be realistic but actually just made everything feel like work, drudgery. Mining too slow,, dungeons repetitive. In short I hated it. I tried Core Keeper. While it follows the same general progression style, the game loop was not compelling to me. Once you finish the first loop, it didn't feel compelling anymore. It was too grindy, and most of the enemies were annoying. Necesse is the first Terraria-like game that really scratched that particular itch for me. By that itch, I meant that Terraria loop of enjoyable biome exploration, getting new weapons and upgrades, killing the next boss. That being said, I am somewhat frustrated by the top-down perspective when it comes to base building. Even though Terraria was 2D, it still gave you much more creative freedom when it comes to architecture/designing bases/houses and interior decor. And Necesse has far fewer items, of course. Suffice to say it still has a lot of room for improvement but in its current state is still absolutely enjoyable. I couldn't stop playing! And I'm an older gamer who is hard to please.
Necesse is your typical RPG, you craft, build, and fight! Good price point for the game play value and surely will provide endless hours of exploratory fun. If you like terraria this is the game for you! build a village, gain various villagers, assign them to work and thrive. like terraria its a progression system of continuous upgrade through grinding but the difference is the cave system as you will need to make a cave ladder to get to the cave. very user friendly, tutorial on how to land yourself somewhere when you start each world.
