Everyone is going to compare it to Refunct. And I have to say that Neave loses this match. Refunct just "feels" better. It feels more precise, specially the walljumps and just jumps in general. Also refunct developed on its ideas with different challenges/obstacles e.g. springs/tubes. Also if you fail a jump in refunct it was quite easy to get back to where you failed. If you fail the last jump before the last checkpoint its gonna take a minute or so until you are back. This doesnt seem like a lot but remember that I finished this game in 13 minutes when I first played it. Also it feels like the game is lacking textures or just colour and the water is just kind of ugly specially when you are just nearly under water, sorry. The fact that the ground changed colour in refunct really did a lot for the visual style and actually for the enjoyment. The controls need to feel more precise but not like you are walking on ice. A big issue for me is that the crouch button doesnt fullfill any role. There is not a single obstacle you have to slide underneath. This feels like an indication that the dev stuck too close to refunct instead of inventing something new/developing on the idea or just giving it a twist. He added a wallrun I definitly give him that but it feels a bit weird as well. You cannot really look around while you are wallrunning and sometimes it just cancels my wallrun/ after jumping to a wall the wallrun doesnt start and I fall down. There are also no collectibles or aadditional achievements. The only one there is is rewarded for finishing the game. I wont refund the game tho.

People compare this to Refunct and as a top speedrunner of both of these games, it is unfair to judge one based off the other. NEAVE is still a great game for what it costs and is a fun way to spend an hour or two!
This game is well worth it. Clean vaporwave aesthetic. Intuitive controls allow for precise movement. Runs perfectly on a mobile gtx1050 at 4k. Most importantly fun. I hope to maintain my leaderboard spot...
Very good game to just sit back and grind out attempts. Reminds me a lot of Refunct which is also a great game.
At first I thought this was gonna be a simple Refunct cut/paste with different graphics. And I mean well, it's *quite* similar, but not really the same, to my surprise. Found myself having quite some fun with this tbh. Only gripe I have with this is that Shift is crouch, and crouching is actually useless in this game. Wish it was a run instead tbh, but whatever. Might actually try to seriously route this at some point for speedruns, who knows.
Nice game
Go and play Refunct instead of this.
The dev was inspired by Refunct and I think it shows in a lot of ways. Some could argue to it's detriment. Gameplay: It's very similar to Refunct except you're collecting the cubes as the main thing to change the world instead of pressing buttons and coloring the world as you go. Neave also does something different in that you're not slowly bringing up the world around you. You're changing it as you collect the cubes and is also different in the fact that you finish and are done you can't explore a completed world like in Refunct. Controls: Refunct has really tight controls and feels very responsive in how you can string things together. Neave does not and feels very floaty and too snappy. I was forced into wall runs into walls I wasn't aiming for when I wasn't that close to them. They're fine enough I'd say but they could use a bit tweaking if there's any plans for a sequel Music: I really like the music. I like Refunct's better overall but the music in this was pretty good. World: Talking about the world feels a bit important since I brought it up earlier. It feels pretty barren because they're just basic blocks with there only being like two different colors. Refunct got around this issue by having your color the blocks in making them look like land and also having elevators and bounce pads to change movement even a tiny bit. Neave's world changes but it doesn't feel as satisfying or as organic. Would be really hard to give this a score out of 10 and while I may have ragged on the game throughout this review I think the most important thing to take away is that Neave was still fun to play. I look forward to any more games from you Patrick. Good job.
This feels like someone tried to make Refunct without identifying exactly what parts of Refunct they enjoyed. The physics are floaty and horrible to control, the map layout is unimaginative and frustrating (especially the leadup to the final cube), the graphics are passable but definitely not the "beautiful vistas" the store page advertises. Not even worth keeping to speedrun. I'll be requesting a refund.
Not refunct LoL
