NBA BOUNCE

(I'll start off by saying, i'm recommending the game, but suggesting you wait for a lower price) I remember watching Basketball growing up, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Isiah Thomas, and so many other legendary players, I watched the NBA blow up on the back of Michael Jordan and his GOAT career. Along with the NBA becoming a global game, NBA video games, who doesn’t remember playing NBA Jam, probably one of the greatest arcade games of all time. Playing NBA Jam at the local Chinese Food place the China Dragon, was awesome. Quarter after quarter, game after game. Playing as super stars like Shawn Kemp, maybe Karl Malone, dropping dimes from Mid court and hearing the announcer says, Whamma Jamma slamma or whatever else was said. Many of us old school gamers have clamored for years for a new NBA Jam game, we’ve gotten some games which were close but never managed to actually mirrored that original style of those classic arcade games. Why am I bringing up NBA Jam, before you get your under roos in a bunch, this game isn’t like NBA Jam, although it could have been. NBA Bounce is your average generic officially licensed NBA game. (no not the Players but the teams) The game has all the NBA teams and a bunch of random generic players. It’s a 3 vs 3 arcade styled game. The action is rather fast paced compared to other NBA simulation game, while the game does have some outlandish dunks it’s nothing like NBA jam. While the game lacks the real players it does have some pretty neat features. Like the ability to unlock NBA mascots which you can use in game. Gameplay – Fast paced 3 vs 3 basketball action, the game plays like you’d expect an NBA game to play, you can take shots with a shot meter, nothing out of the ordinary here, but where this game gets a bit different is the timing required for things like blocking shots, grabbing rebounds and getting steals. Like for instance grabbing a rebound, you need to position your player correctly and then press the button at the right time, if everything isn’t perfect the CPU will pull down the board. The two CPU controlled teammates are pretty crap at pulling rebounds as well unfortunately. The game has multiple modes , Pick up game (two teams going against each other), Party game (a game with random modifiers which affect game play), Tournament (think NBA playoffs), Season (an NBA season it says Full Season on the store page so possibly 82 games, no stat tracking aside from W/L records), Also the game has practice mode. Pros Fast paced action Fun casual experience “NBA Jam” like Fairly Easy achievements, albeit some time consuming one Con’s Price $49.99 ouch, kinda expensive Recommendation – I kind of enjoyed the game, it has some issues for certain but overall it was a pretty fun game, I enjoyed playing it quite a bit, while I can’t say it would replace NBA2k, but if I’m just looking for a casual NBA game to play for 10 – 15 minutes, this might scratch that itch. The fact it has real teams is nice, the fact it has the Mascots you can use is even better. The biggest Drawback is that price, 50 dollars just seems a little bit overpriced. I can see the game getting kind of boring over the long haul of an 82 game season as no stat tracking, All star games, etc etc etc, people will likely get bored. Ultimately I’d recommend this game 100% if the price was 25 – 30, but 50 dollars is just too much. So if you see it for 25 – 30 buy it immediately at 50, I’d hold off.

I bought this game for my five-year-old to help introduce her to sports games. It plays a lot like a NBA Jam Lite but is missing A LOT of the fun of the NBA Jam franchise. Pros: Characters and gear need to be unlocked by playing, not microtransactions - very refreshing. Pretty simplistic, smooth playing. Nothing too overwhelming. Graphics and animations are decent, not clunky or awkward with a few minor exceptions (namely shot blocking and balls bouncing around the rim). Customization of characters is decent. You get an okay amount of control over things like head size, eye positioning, etc. Things like hair and skin color are pretty limited. Cons: Very minimal effort in the presentation - like very minimal. The announcer repeats the same hand full of lines; that doesn't usually bother me but about half are nonsensical like a shot bouncing off the rim and getting "airball...". You're also restricted to the NBA teams in the game, which is fine, but the announcers say "home team" and "away team". You couldn't add 30 singular voice lines for each team's name? To harp on the announcing, characters restricted to about 100 names with no option of entering your own and the announcer doesn't say the name at any point and I don't think it's ever even shown on screen outside of player selection. You can't view stats in games. Which is silly since some achievements are stats based. It's not NBAPA licensed, so no NBA/WNBA players in the game either. Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars. Despite all it's flaws, it's a great speed for my five-year-old and a great introductory sports game. I don't think I could justify to anyone paying $50 for the game. I feel like a dope paying $30 for it. It's bare, bare bones. If you have a kid new to video games and/or sports, consider grabbing it for $5-10 but otherwise a pass.

This game is a lot of fun, definitely not worth full price though, wait for a big sale or cheap key (unless you’re a basketball nerd like me). Think of NBA Jam/Playgrounds mixed with Hoop Land. Although it has the more party game feel, with a party mode that has varying fun gameplay mechanics. You will play as cute chibi mascots or avatars for teams without one (e.g. my Lakers), these avatars can be customised also. The only thing I really want them to add is some basic dribbling/crossover mechanics like in Hoop Land, time will tell if they will add it. Easy to play for kids wanting to play a basketball game but aren’t old enough for 2K also. Cannot wait to kill some time playing this on the Steam Deck. Edit: runs great on Deck at low TDP, as expected.

Yes it's a fun little basketball game. However, I got it with 40% discount being still 30€. My thought was buying it for this price as it should have been the full price of the game in the first place. No way it is a 50€ game...

Get this game so you can dunk on your kids

It's fun for a quick play, but overall extreemly basic and a bit poorly designed Hitting shots even when the shot gauge seems like it should miss the net, (in the yellow for example) usually results in a basket The stealing feels more like RNG rather than skill When possession changes, the AI sits behind the basket for a moment before snapping into place and putting the ball in play (Would be excusable if the gameplay werent so basic) Too easy The voice lines repeat a little more than is tollerable Overall, fun for a few games but definately overpriced 64.99 Canadian dollars, even on sale for 32.49 (what I paid) is asking way too much Feels like it should be around 14.99 Not sure who decided pricing but they overshot the value by a solid 60% at least I won't complain about visual presentaion or art style because I think they were going for a cartoony minimalist style intentionally My final opinion, kind of fun, lacking in features, gameplay and challenge (personally) DEFINATLEY DONT PAY ANYWHERE NEAR FULL PRICE
