The game was very arduous and tedious. The plotline was partly depressing. The avatar paper dolls and the bento meals were the most enjoyable puzzles. The music was excellent and the atmosphere was beautiful.
Game 170 of my backlog A much better overall entry into the series after playing The Ghost Dogs at Moon Lake (which I didn't like). Longer and more difficult but the puzzles were not outlandish and annoying and not complete fetch quests. The minigames were fun, and tied into the actual game. The only potentially annoying part of this one is the Sudoku portion. It's required to play it. While it is not a difficult game (in general) to play, the one in this one is very forgiving and overall straightforward. I actually like Sudoku so this was a relaxing experience for me

(Played on Amateur) Lots of spooks for sure - I personally quite enjoyed it! Of course the accents are terrible, but the puzzles were DEFINITELY challenging. Fortunately the story flows well so it's not that hard to figure out what to do next. The NPC chatter was realistic -- but a lot of Nancy's questions weren't realistic. Nancy is oblivious and you ask *very* personal stuff no one should ask ... but this is a video game so ask away.
love this one so much! its my all time fav and replay it constantly! it is super puzzle heavy which i love and has some really tough sudoku, which tbh i actually really dislike. but over all really good characters and really emotional story. would 100% recommend
Holds up super well. I originally played these with my mother when I was younger and it's so great to see that it's still just as fun.
Love the spooky factor of this Nancy mystery and the cutesy Japanese vibes of things like Bento, Plinko, and Suki the Robot Cat. I got addicted to Sudoku and Renograms - but HATED the nonograms. Overall the plot, location and characters are likeable and the puzzles are good, but I wish we didn't have to keep on skipping days to trigger things happening as sometimes it felt like all I was doing was sleeping until 7 pm, then again until 1 am. More could have been done with the hotel setting as was done in Carousel/Blackmoor/Tower with things like room service or helping with hotel tasks instead of making Nancy just another guest, but that's just nitpicky! Still has a spot in my top ten.
This is a classic Nancy Drew game and its a joy to come back and be able to play these games again. This specific game is great if you're someone who's into puzzles like nanograms and sudoku. My one qualm with this ND game is that some of the events didn't make sense to me, like
getting all of the images from Yuri; they came in a weird order at weird times and I was missing one until I just...walked around for awhile
. Overall this is super nostalgic and fun.
I enjoyed the Bento, I did enjoy the plot of the story and the characters.
This is Nancy Drew at its best! Spooky vibes, compelling mystery, characters you actually get to know and care about, fantastic puzzles with a perfect balance of investigating and puzzles. Genuinely my favourite of the series, I play through it about once a year 10/10
Drowing in shrieks, sudoku, and tepid water. You'll gasp, you'll groan, you'll probably be forced to confront a walkthrough. Let it be known that Nancy Drew has no idea what the meaning of mirror image is. Friend to friend, you only need to do one of each type of puzzle in the puzzle book, the rest is optional for sick freaks that like to play sudoku with the worst interface known to mankind.
