Pros: fun puzzles! As a big fan of Picross I may be biased. The string puzzle was torturous for me though. Cons: TERRIBLE ACCENTS that have aged very poorly. There's only ONE Japanese voice actor in the whole game. It really breaks the immersion.
my first ever nancy drew game. very enjoyable. my favorite part was when the phone glitched and we couldn't get the final text message to complete the game. I ate an entire block of mozzarella cheese that night and gave myself a stomach ache. 8/10
This is Nancy Drew at its best! Spooky vibes, compelling mystery, characters you actually get to know and care about, fantastic puzzles with a perfect balance of investigating and puzzles. Genuinely my favourite of the series, I play through it about once a year 10/10
I knew that i would love this game the moment i saw it i use to watch my sisters play Nancy drew games like the wolf one can't rember the name of that one just that there is one that has a wolf and castle malloy and ghost of Thorten hall i also love Japan so i knew i had to play it. would highly recommend!
MY FAVOURITE NANCY DREW GAME EVER. Maybe it's because I love sudoku and picross, but the puzzles in this game are my favourite - I know the bento box section can be frustrating but it's so satisfying to figure them out, and they're adorable! The characters are so fun and interesting, the entire vibe is somehow both calming and spooky, the horror elements are great, music is great, puzzles are great - this is a need to play for Nancy fans <3
As a long time player of Nancy Drew games, I really did enjoy this one but it does have several frustrating moments. Some of the puzzles are tedious as you need to do them several times over to progress the game. More than that, this game has the most difficult puzzles (and sometimes unfairly so) that I've ever played in a Nancy Drew game. If you're up to the challenge, just beware. I enjoyed the frights as well and the story kept me very engaged to the point that I was thinking about the case outside of playing the game.
I am a big fan of Nancy Drew games, I grew up playing them with my sister. This one was great and had all of the traditional aspects of a good Nancy Drew game.
The game is well made with fun puzzles, a realistic ryokan setting, and a super fun and creepy mystery. The characters are also great. However, as someone who has lived in Japan, the accents are mostly awful (one VA appears to be Japanese... maybe), the train system is so hilarious I laughed until I cried, and the mall/expo location is really bland.
(Played on Amateur) Lots of spooks for sure - I personally quite enjoyed it! Of course the accents are terrible, but the puzzles were DEFINITELY challenging. Fortunately the story flows well so it's not that hard to figure out what to do next. The NPC chatter was realistic -- but a lot of Nancy's questions weren't realistic. Nancy is oblivious and you ask *very* personal stuff no one should ask ... but this is a video game so ask away.
One of the better Nancy Drew games, but also one of the scariest.
