Genre
Ein Hidden Object Adventure
Story

Follow Main group
 Follow Second group
 Follow third group
"Mysteries of the Undead" is a Hidden Object puzzle game, the type you normally see on mobile app stores or even as browser apps. There's literally hundreds of these on Steam, mostly published by Artifex Mundi, many of them free on mobile app stores, but this one will cost you money on Steam. There's a undead island/horror theme to the game, but this is a just a veneer over a tired and overdone set of hidden object minigames and Adobe Flash tier puzzles, wrapped together with a bunch of static screens that you "move" through by tapping your finger on your iPhone screen. While these kinds of games are popular amongst casual gamers, it's difficult to argue this is a great value proposition as a PC game, especially considering the price of this compared to the hundreds of free HOGs on the mobile app stores. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes "Mysteries of the Undead" might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 11 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. "Mysteries of the Undead" has the completely unrealistic cash grab price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. Because this is the kind of game you can just play for free on mobile phones, it's impossible to recommend anyone should pay money for the same experience on Steam. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "Don't Starve Together", "Left 4 Dead 2" or the "Tomb Raider" remake. Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this. There's also thousands of free, superior quality games on Steam.
This is a basic puzzle PnC with Hogs. The cut scenes and story are atmospheric - and the game's name is pretty self explanatory. Really good game for beginners, tho look out for some of the cursor positioning, where you have to be really accurate activating items. As for the Hogs, the art is such that it took me a while to find a few well placed items - making an interesting journey for Hidden Object Lovers - especially if you like the interactive items within the search. *One Hog it asks you to look for a Hunter.... I clicked EVERYWHERE and it turned out it was the number '2' - so game bug there. The map is easy to navigate, showing where there is available game-play and instant travel. No Achievements, although I find that can help enjoy the immersive experience, instead of wondering if you forgot to search an area for collectables, or having to replay to complete the set. This game only took a few hours for me to play and is on the basic end, skill-wise in its genre. Being quick, its a nice gentle brain work-out. Would recommend it on sale.
It looked really cool and I liked the story, but there were issues with it. I had to click the same spot over and over again to get it to register. Some hidden objects were mislabeled. Really appreciated the almost instant skip button for the puzzles, because I really didn't get some of the instructions`. The hint button took ages to recharge though, which is super annoying because there were times when I could see the object I was supposed to be clicking, but I guess I wasn't clicking the exact right spot
unfortunately there are a number of issues with the game. I have had to restart to get past certain areas where you may make a wrong move and then you cannot go any further. The next time it lost all the collected items and there was no way of resetting it, except for starting again but it has taken 11 hours to get that far, so who knows what would go wrong again if I started again.
If you can get past the game's spurts of Roberta Williams logic, then this is a fun little puzzle game.
