About
Mysteries of Perception is a 2D investigative game structured like a choral narrative where you can jump from one character's perspective to another during the investigation. To gather more clues and progress in your investigation, it will be necessary to collect information from all viewpoints and confront them to reach plausible conclusions. Confirm your theories by consulting the stars. Jump from a past to a future perspective and discover every facet of the mysterious deaths that will be presented to you.
Dive into this dystopian universe with desaturated colors and solve the mysteries that govern the world. Perhaps you will uncover the mystery of your own death...
See through their eyes.
See the world through the eyes of more than five different characters and perceive the scene from their point of view. Some will see details that the ordinary person will overlook. Others will see the world in an even more unique, biased, strange manner. The information you obtain from them will be all the more subtle to decipher...
Each character will provide you with new pieces of the puzzle.
Untangle the plot.
During each investigation you will amass evidence and incriminating elements by interacting with the world around you. You can use them in the Constellarium. You have always thought better when gazing at the stars. By placing your evidence in the right spot, the path to the truth will become clearer and clearer.
Under the Iron Star
The continent has been under the yoke of an authoritarian party for too long. The Astralist Party promotes individuals with high animic potential, considering them superior to others. Dirty tricks and manipulations are multiplying within the party as a revolutionary cell, active for over twenty years, begins to challenge the authorities hold on the artifacts. These relics, are ornate bones from past civilizations that, according to myths, hold powerful powers.

Very shallow and short experience, the whole game feels like a demo. My play time is probably twice as much as it should take to finish the game, because I restated the game from the begining because of what I though was a bug. (Might have been or might have been a poor design decision, or maybe a translation problem ? not sure...) Perspective from different character is supposed to be important, but it really doesn't feel like it. I was expecting to see the same scene through the eyes of different character, but no, you mainly gather clues in different places depending on which character you are playing. The 3 cases are pretty straightforward and the worldbuilding was disappointing. The characters whoses perspective is supposed to be so important are one dimensional stereotypes. I was mainly disappointed because of the high expectations I formed while reading the description and some of the positive reviews, so it might be an enfoyable game for as long as you temper your expectation of it. So, keep in mind that : - There are only 3 cases, one of which act as the tutorial - Perspectives and the characters your are "playing as" doesn't really matter you are just gathering clue in the end - The cases are quite easy The art style is beautiful, that was for me the best part of the game.
A nice little game The visuals are unique, and the story and characters are very interesting Even though the game isn't perfect, I definitely recommend it! 👍
Bravo 50 rats !
I don’t know how to say it in restrained terms. This is an absolute masterpiece. This game costs less than either of the DLCs for Case of the Golden Idol, yet delivers more content and an even deeper detective experience, despite being a standalone game with three (yeah, a full THREE) cases, each forming a rich and compelling story. You are immersed in a beautifully realized classical world, shaped by the vision of a bold and thoughtful author—where an oppressive empire maintains order through disciplined and strikingly designed enforcers, while rebels fight for their dubious cause. Scientists pursue their research with conviction, fully aware of the risks posed by defying authority. Meanwhile, the rebels—chaotic, flawed, but undeniably driven—must navigate a complex world where morality is never black and white. The first case, which brilliantly doubles as a tutorial, introduces an intriguing mystery that requires careful deduction. A tightly crafted experience that draws you in from the start. The second case unfolds into a sprawling, intricate narrative, filled with richly developed characters that contribute immensely to the overarching plot. Despite the game’s three-case structure, the worldbuilding remains exceptional. The highlight? Piecing together a sequence of clever story beats, thoroughly investigating a compelling crime scene, and experiencing the satisfying thrill of uncovering a well-hidden truth. The third case is an expertly woven, surprising, and deeply satisfying climax that leaves the door open for a sequel in the best way possible. Am I supposed to connect with characters who are only on screen for five minutes? Yes, because they’re written with such depth. Am I supposed to be enthralled by a mystery I can solve in three minutes? Of course not—it’s a masterfully crafted puzzle that respects the player’s intelligence. Am I supposed to see the finale as a “grand reveal” even though the hints were subtly placed throughout? Absolutely—it’s a payoff that rewards attention and deduction. This game could be compared to The Lemurian Vampire, a case that some consider one of the most fascinating in the Golden Idol series. It follows a similar structure but refines and elevates it with engaging time-based puzzles, recurring characters that become familiar to the player, and a perspective-shifting mechanic that actually delivers on the promise of its description. The game is also incredibly intuitive in its mechanics, making brute-forcing nearly impossible, particularly in its third case. The challenge lies in truly understanding the events, as the solution spaces demand careful thought rather than simply selecting between “person,” “item,” or “action.” If it were that simple, it would undermine the depth of the experience. And you’d expect a short game that pays homage to Golden Idol to be meticulously polished at launch? It absolutely is. I unlocked the “Clues for Case 2” achievement without missing a single important autopsy detail. Meanwhile, the “Clues for Case 3” achievement required a truly thorough playthrough—encouraging me to re-engage with the game, search for every possible nuance, and appreciate the level of detail woven into every dialogue and scene. I don’t understand the negative reviews claiming it’s “short but disappointing.” Are they from people who expected a different kind of experience? Critics unwilling to engage with the genre? Players too accustomed to hand-holding? Because this game captures the exhilarating “eureka” moments of Case of the Golden Idol and other detective classics. The gameplay is rewarding, the characters are compelling, and the narrative, though concise, is deeply engaging. It shares familiar themes with other rebellion stories, but executes them with intelligence and originality. This could have been a forgettable entry in the genre, if it had fewer chapters, weaker storytelling, or shallow worldbuilding—but instead, it’s an absolute gem. A passion project that delivers a complete, satisfying experience while leaving room for a potential sequel (which I can’t wait for, whenever it arrives).
Very happy to recommend this game, I bought this on sale, but even at full price I think it's value for money. It's a short game (I completed this game with 100% achievements in just under 2 hours) but for the the price I don't know many places you can absorb yourself in good writing, beautiful artwork and some decent mysteries. On the flip side, I am disappointed by a failure to achieve it's full potential. The writers clearly put a lot of thought into names of worlds, characters and arcane artifacts. They have created some kind of ancient history that is beginning to clash with the more modern world. There are a lot of characters where backstories are hinted at and leave you wanting to know more. But none of this is expanded on! It's like picking up a book that promises so much then finding out that most of the pages are blank. I really hope that this game finds enough success to spawn another game in the same universe as I'm desperate to know more about it. Especially after seeing the statue of a 'Queen' with the same hairstyle as me...perhaps I'm secretly royalty in another dimension?! Anyway, I have been left feeling very empty by this game, but that shouldn't stop anyone playing, and I think anyone who loves deduction games will not regret their time playing.
Da sollte man also fit drin sein.
