You open a book, and suddenly you're stranded on a mysterious island with no instructions, no hints, no hand-holding. Just you, the environment, and a series of increasingly clever puzzles to solve. The old-school approach is both its biggest strength and a potential barrier for newcomers. But if you're willing to embrace it, the satisfaction of cracking each puzzle on your own is hard to match. The story, while not the main focus, is surprisingly deep and worth following. A randomized mode also gives the game some replay value. On the downside, controller support feels a bit clunky, and some CGI sequences don't seem able to keep up with the graphics improvements of this reamke. A slow, thoughtful, and rewarding experience, just don't expect anyone to tell you what to do. Recommended.

Diese Version von Myst ist nach meiner Auffassung die bislang beste (ohne VR). Grafisch sehr schön und ich konnte es ohne Bugs gemütlich durchspielen. Besonders Rime hat mir sehr gut gefallen, das Zeitalter erzeugt eine besondere Stimmung. Ich denke. es lohnt sich auch für die Spieler, die eine oder mehrere Versionen von Myst kennen. Ich selbst habe das Ur-Myst das erste Mal vor über 30 Jahren auf einem 386SX gespielt. Meine Spielzeit von über 17 Stunden sollte nicht maßgebend sein, ich bin aber ein gemütlicher Spieler und schaue mir alles in Ruhe an. Und dann bin ich doch noch auf ein Ärgernis gestoßen. Als ich meine fehlenden Erfolge nachholen wollte, stieß ich auf den Erfolg 'Speedy'. Ich weiß nicht, was sich Cyan dabei gedacht hat, sowas zu integrieren. Für mich unmöglich zu schaffen. Daher habe ich das Sammeln der Erfolge abgebrochen. Cyan würde gut daran tun, diesen Erfolg aus dem Spiel zu patchen oder die Zeit auf ca. 5 Minuten zu erhöhen, damit bei den Spielern kein Frust aufkommt.
Myst (2021) is an amazing remaster of the original Myst. I've now completed all the versions, even the ones that aren't on Steam and I can confidently say that I'd always recommend this version. It has the benefit of free roaming in 3D while looking stunning. It's a good mix of staying faithful to the original while playing around with new designs. Although I wasn't a fan of the new faces of the characters they can easily be toggled on and off in the settings which I appreciate! One thing I didn't like was the notebook. It took way too many clicks to open and close it. I also encountered a bug in Stoneship where the water levels didn't go down as expected. After reloading my save it worked again.
