It's good. If you liked Myst, Riven and/or Myst III, you are gonna like this one as well. Making it work with xbox controller was a little tricky but you can do it through steam controller settings.
Myst IV: Revelation was a magnificent and nostalgic trip down memory lane for me. This chapter brilliantly resolves many of the saga’s long-standing lore questions with a stunning, cinematic approach. The storytelling is so powerful that it makes you truly appreciate every intricate puzzle, guiding you through a journey elevated by a monumental and deeply moving soundtrack. I highly recommend this experience, but with one essential caveat: to fully appreciate its depth, you absolutely must start from the very first chapter.
Art design, nailed it Sound design, nailed it Story, sorta ok Gameplay design, failed it
Humorously bad puzzles with a catastrophic control scheme and a story that is as cheesy as it is nonsensical. Could be fun to screw around in but not to solve organically.
Awesomeness
Myst IV should be taught in college game design courses. Genuinely a contender for worst adventure game I have ever played, in stunning, fascinating ways. (Though not so fascinating that I could actually complete it. I believe I'm two puzzles from the end. I've turned to walkthroughs, I'm using a fan-made quality-of-life patch, I have hand-written notes, and still the act of inputting the solutions is so soul-draining that I can no longer bear to let this travesty occupy space on my hard drive. Myst III was merely disappointing. This game is an achievement.)
