I really wanted to try this game, but I couldn't. I know nothing about the story or how the game actually is, because for whatever reason the developer(s)decided that: - You need a beast computer to not FPS drop below 30 (my GFX would be the bottleneck, but that's not an issue for, say The Witness, Apex Legens and other "big" games) - That you really should question whether you need to visit the optician or not, because the game is so damn blurry it gave me a headache in literally 1 minute (I've been trying to improve the FPS and texture quality for 30 mins) - The mouse smoothing, probably because of the uneven FPS, is just yuck. - You guys are using UE4, how can the points above even be a problem? I'd love to try the game out, but because of the issues mentioned I'm not even going to bother, sadly. If these issues gets fixed in the future I'd gladly try again.
MYHA: Return to the lost island is a Myst-like puzzle game where you take on the roll as an astronaut who lands on the moon only to discover a strange black cube that transports you and your ship to the island of MYHA. Pros: Graphics are very well done Animations are decent Very simple controls Many puzzles to solve Non-linear Cons: The world is very confined The ending was lack luster Voice acting was very muffled (radio messages) There isn't much to say about this game other than it's very Myst like is appearance and how you solve many of these puzzles is very logical. In other words, it's pretty much a Myst clone but that doesn't take away the fact that there is plenty of puzzle solving fun to be had. The controls are simple and the puzzles range from easy to kill me know. Other than the so-so ending, the island of MYHA could have been a bit more spacious. Myst island wasn't big either but there were other ages you could travel to giving the game a bigger feel. At the time of this review, MYHA was selling for $17.99, well worth it in my opinion. I really wouldn't wait for a sale, I'd buy it now.
Enjoyed playing the games, the puzzles were, as usual for the black cube series, quite fun to decipher. I couldn't run the game on the highest settings as my computer is quite old but the day/night cycles looked quite beautiful. I'm impressed with the quality of the graphics for a one-man team game. If you like games like Myst or Quern, go for it, you'll have a few hours of fun.
Despite the lack of optimization with the real-time graphics and minor technical issues with the UI and audio (which wasn't an obstacle to play and enjoy the whole game), Myha is a great puzzle game with an intriguing story and an interesting world. The puzzles are hard but fair and challenging. A must-have for all Myst-like lovers.
Overall I would recommend this game to players who like games like Myst, Quern etc and are looking for something new to play rather than replaying old classics! Pros: Challenging puzzles but no leaps required. I did consult a walkthrough a little bit but only because of impatience, I would have got there eventually. Good environment. Ability to run quickly around the island. Lots of achievements. Cons: Very difficult to hear the audio messages. Playing at low quality on a laptop is a disadvantage to puzzle solving not just visuals. Would have liked to opt out of the night/day cycle - night was annoying especially as I was already struggling to see items from playing at low quality. Some things never become part of the game even though they look very much part of the game. Ability to detach the 'hand' movement from screen movement would have been good (like in Myst).
I love Myst-like games! Myha looked promising, but does crash and freezes up. The glitches makes it too unstable and takes away the fun. Hope there will come an FIX/UPDATE that will sort this out. Had to uninstall and get refunded this time around, sorry!
If you like point and click games similar to Myst and Obduction with challenging but not impossible puzzles, then this game is for you. Happily there are no timed events or actions that require quick reflexes to destroy something - at least at my current spot in the game. And no tongue-in-cheek sarcastic dialogue; in fact there is only one protagonist where information to advance through the game is gleaned through letters left about and from the environment.
