I was a Stardew player at heart, it was always my go to game, until my husband showed me My time at Portia and now I'm hooked on that and My time at Sandrock. I love the red herrings, all the NPC's, both the big story and all the small storries that let you get to know the NPCs. And I can't wait for the next game either!
My Time at Sandrock takes everything that made Portia great and improves it in almost every possible way. The world feels bigger, the writing is stronger, the characters are more memorable, the gameplay systems are smoother, and the overall presentation is on an entirely different level. This honestly feels like the developers fully realized their vision for the “My Time” series. What surprised me most was how attached I became to Sandrock itself. Despite being a desert town, the setting is full of personality and charm. Watching the town slowly grow and improve because of your work makes your progress feel genuinely impactful. The characters are fantastic. Nearly every NPC has depth, unique dialogue, and memorable story moments. The relationship system feels far more natural compared to most life sims, and the voice acting adds so much personality to the world. Gameplay-wise, Sandrock is dangerously addictive. The workshop management, crafting chains, exploration, combat, farming, mining, and automation systems all flow together perfectly. There is constantly something new to unlock, improve, or work toward, which makes “just one more day” turn into five more hours very quickly. The quality-of-life improvements over Portia are massive as well. Inventory management, building systems, traversal, combat, quest tracking, and overall pacing all feel significantly more polished and refined. On top of all that, the developers clearly care about the game and its community. The amount of content, polish, post-launch support, and attention to detail is honestly impressive. My Time at Sandrock is easily one of the best life sim / crafting RPGs available right now and one of the strongest indie games released in recent years.
Bought the game on a whim (Logan), heard some good things (Logan), saw some cool fan art (Logan) and suddenly I'm 100 hours in and just finishing the main story (maybe, when does it end????!) This is one heck of a game, the story has some fabulous twists and the characters feel so full and well thought out. I haven't even really delved into the romance side of the game yet so can't comment but I'm excited so see what happens. I would however, recommend having the internet open at all times to research where to find specific item A to unlock specific item B - as I found it is often not very clear and there are sometimes time limits (again not always clear). I also have to put it out there for the girlies looking for Logan: he is END GAME, you'll have to get to the end of the story to even interact with him. Please be prepared for the long haul wait! I've played a fair few farming/romance games and this one really feels refreshing. Not sure how well it will stand up for re-playablility but there are reasons to try! (Fang) I'm hyped to see what this studio brings out next, they will have my money for sure! <3
I enjoyed playing my Time at Portia so of course I had to buy My Time at Sandrock. It's good, has improvements on the first game such as can save anywhere. I didn't realise that there was a second page for researching machines. Thought I had to wait to be able to cook from a quest. As had no idea how to cook or tailor until I was in Autumn of 1st year. I love the starlight DLC outfits the dresses Mi-an and Amirah get but disappointed they are only for them and not your character. I guess that since it's an Indie game clothing is the least of their concerns if you have a limited budget. I did buy most of the DLC's as Pathea do make good games. And I want to help support them make even better games. I can't wait for the next My Time as there is nothing else with the same vibe as the My Time games. I experienced a few bugs in the game such as Logan bugged out he was just walking around near the train station spinning around in circles. And my character becoming invisible when she hops off her horse. The magic mirror is annoying, buggy and not worth hiring. It just follows me around saying the fuel in my machines are depleted even though they are all full. The game has fantastic voice acting with some actors voicing multiple characters and it's amazing how different they can make each of them sound. I liked the games story and most of the characters. They are done well. I like trying to befriend and help everyone. I named my workshop Get Fixed as I feel like Iam fixing everyone as well as the town and desert. Fang is my most favourite. So of course I make him my husband. Children are poorly done. They just look like clones of your builder and not at all like the other parent besides a slight eye colour highlight. They aren't worth having as they just mostly waste your time though it is kind of cute when your spouse interacts with them. They just wander around town by themselves and don't go to school with the other children. They are just like high maintenance pets and not an engaging family member. And other NPC's don't acknowledge them besides when they are born, they dump a pile of gifts on you. The game is like your playing field. I looked up what happens about character relationships you can date multiple as long as they don't find out and most if they do will forgive you if you gift an apology bear, but some wont forgive if caught such as Fang which is understandable after what he's been through. Though it seems like you can marry, divorce and remarry as much as you want. You just have to build up the relationship again and they have no resentment towards you even Fang. It's a bit unrealistic but I understand that they don't want to limit players. I would prefer if the game had risk and real consequence for bad behaviour such as cheating and divorce. Such as characters would react more realistically and be upset and/or angry. Though I watched on Youtube when Fang is divorced what he says is sad. But most seem to not act any different except lose relationship points. I only want to romance and marry 1 character and not likely to play more than once to romance others I like. There are missions you can only get if dating, but Iam not bothered if I miss out as I already have so much to do. It would be nice if I could play matchmaker and match the rest of the bachelors and bachelorettes together to make more families. I thought some of them would be so perfect together, it's a shame they all stay single. I don't like the house building in the game. Stairs take up so much room and it looks much smaller inside than the outside. It's not intuitive and I struggle with it. It's so frustrating so I just use one of the premade houses. I preferred what they had in Portia. You can annoyingly miss out on things as I didn't go visit Nia at the moisture farm so it locked me out of being able to buy and plant rhino horn catcus and desert roses. It is a very long game and often it has too much time in between getting the next mission. Even so I didn't want the game to ever end and I feel sad like Iam leaving all my friends behind. The game has a lot of different things to do. I never felt bored playing it. It's a really good game even with all the bugs and things I don't like there is a lot more I do like. The my time games are so unique, there is no other cozy games that are done this well with so much variety. I'd rate it 8/10 I really enjoyed playing the game.
GREAT STORYLINE, GREAT NPC DEPTH. I am formally a new member of Sandcult. Highly recommended for people like me who loves a story driven, grindy game. And also the romance is top-tier!
How I feel about My Time at Sandrock…. As of writing this review, I have 8 hours in this game. Now, this review could come across as not entirely fair or potentially negatively biased. I got this game to play multiplayer with my boyfriend. We are always looking for a new game to play. Now I won’t lie, going into this, I had extremely high hopes because the trailers made this game look so AWESOME. But as other reviewers have stated, the multiplayer aspect is very empty, and a lot of the progression feels slow or just inconvenient. We also found that it was frustrating how some things are just stupidly annoying to get. Take, for example, the item sandberries. WHY do you literally have to build the general store to get them, which takes way too long to craft everything, when you can literally forage some near your camp every day? What is the point of making so many things locked behind an upgrade or a mission to build stores like the general store? Or why does the shop level have to be so high to get some basic recipes? In my opinion, the recipe for a better sandtrap for fishing should not be a level 10 shop recipe. Some may disagree with the pacing, but I find it to be both too fast in some areas and unbelievably slow in others. Plus, I have no knowledge of how things are in single player, but the mounts are EXPENSIVE and a daily expense in order to ride them. And frankly, what has stopped us from exploring really far is that running/walking is SLOW. But we just don’t see the point in paying that much for mounts every day. If it were a one-time expense, that would make way more sense. I get the idea of making multiplayer more difficult in terms of leveling, etc., but I think that they didn’t really balance that at all. Plus, I am personally a person who prefers a little more guidance from a game, but this, to me at least, wasn’t very beginner-friendly. For a lot of it, we found ourselves having to search the internet for how to get certain items, recipes, areas unlocked, etc. Plus, is farming this weird/difficult in singleplayer? It was very laggy, and sometimes you could plant in the plot and then all of a sudden you couldn’t plant there anymore with no explanation as to why. And also the sandfishing made me semi-annoyed because I would throw the bait, and sometimes the game would just function as if I didn’t throw any, and would tell me to try using bait, which got annoying with certain bait options since they were either hard to find or more expensive to buy. Also, I find the food to be useless in the early game. Not to compare this game to Stardew, but… at least in that game, even in the early game, the food that you were given or you foraged for gave some health and stamina back. These foods in the early game? Didn’t give that much. Now you could unlock it with the little skill knowledge tree they have, but I still think that they could have reworked things differently. One thing I will say I do enjoy is the little card game they have in there. Not only can you play it with your friends, but you can also do it with the residents in the town, which I do really like! I would find myself liking certain things about the game, but overall, every time I would think that I started to like it, something would happen that made me find myself annoyed again. And I really did try to like it, hence the 8 hours invested in the game already. I am not quite ready to give up, but I would say to anyone who wants to do this game for multiplayer, don’t do it. The game feels empty and incomplete yet has so many roadblocks to get to one item. Like, it genuinely gets annoying sometimes how many steps it takes just to get the one item or quest you needed done/made.
it is a good game. good voice acting. good game pace. the most wonderful thing is that they detect things from storage. no more wasting times going over storages to look for that 1 specific item, for quest.. that surely saves a lot of time from player prespectives.
后面内容想裹脚布一样,唯一作用就是催眠,BUG超级多。再也不买测试版,一个没诚信、信用的公司,建立一个讲诚信讲信用的模式,完全是来搞笑的。
