My Maid Girlfriend

As a fan of the french maid aesthetic, I just had to get this game to see what it offers, and I am currently on Chapter 2. I am not a fan of graphic novels, but the story in this is intriguing and definitely not "half done", I would say it is a good bit of escapism and it knows its target audience. However, some of the transitions in the cartoon between blocks of text feel a bit jarring, being from the UK I am not used to Japanese art styles. The animation is fluid and English translation makes sense and was definitiely done by a human and not Google Translate, however the interface has the feel of a Windows 95 "Shrek" print studio that came free with a printer, a game like this would have worked well as a 3D adventure. Overall - 8/10 from me and it has inspired me to look more into this genre.

The first playthrough was a paradise, with so many choices that made it interactive and the impossibly adorable Mina. The balloon breasts were appreciated at first, but it felt like they were trying too hard as they bounce throughout the whole game so that I just felt indifferent to them. The backgrounds were beautiful, and there was an unexpected amount of drama and unexpected length for the story. Unfortunately, it's just one story. I paid $10 for a romantic choose your own adventure, and ended up with a single path story. There are no branching paths. There are no flags, as all girls will confess to you even if you blow them off for the whole game. Half of the many choices add a slight change in dialogue or a full on CG, but many don't and outright disrespect your choices.Trust me, I've spent so many hours testing this. Even the endings for each girl are all similar, and it just ends with a title card without credits, as if they didn't even have the decency to give credit to the artists, musicians and developers aside from their own company name. If you want a first-person romance anime experience (not counting the anime "The Room", as those girls as way too young) then I guess you could get buy this if it's on sale for 70% off (or even watch it on Youtube). Otherwise, don't bother. I enjoyed the experience, but the time spent trying to get a different story only to realize that I paid for a misleading product is a shame.
