Amazing game!!
Oldschool fun
Excellent tactical RPG, unforgiving and challenging
For those who haven't played XCOM, this game might be even more enjoyable. Its strength lies in being light for a turn-based game, with excellent apocalypse map and character design. However, the downside is that for a light game, it doesn't quite justify its price. The character pool is small, leading players to use the same characters repeatedly. There aren't many weapon types, and upgrade materials are scarce, so you end up using the same weapons. This makes the battles repetitive and dull in the later stages after an initially fun experience.
Mutant Year Zero is an excellent twist on the XCom formula that takes that one element from XCOM 2 (setting up ambushes at the start of some missions) and makes it the whole game, but in a way that works really well. It is very fun to divide your characters up, set them up in perfect locations, and then unleash all heck and cut down the enemy. If you do not do this, you will die, pretty quickly! The ambush is the main way you level the playing field. Really fun to upgrade your characters with new gear of course! But the story and the world is also really good! Got a good mystery to chase down! Is definitely a fun, post-apocalyptic world that had a nice tongue-in-cheek sense of humor! Definitely worth a go for XCom fans!
excellent game
